Staying at a casista assures you of absolute privacy from other guests. In addition to the beach-front casitas, four more are constructed on the higher ground of the island among the treetops. If you prefer to have a more magnificent view of the sea and the whole island (as well as the sunrise and sunset), you may choose to stay at one of the seven more casistas situated on the hillside.

The main building in the resort is called The Clubhouse, which houses The Restaurant as well as The Lobby and the Bar. While the resort offers a 24-hour private dining experience, guests may also choose to enjoy a wide choice of delectable Asian and Continental cuisines at the restaurant.

For some quiet reading, guests may visit the Library, also at The Clubhouse (which has an art gallery and boutique as well). Located several steps away from the Clubhouse is Amanpulo's Beach Club, where anyone can avail of water sport equipments.

Since the island is surrounded by breathtaking coral reefs, a wide variety of aquatic life thrives under the island's clear waters – perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving activities. Windsurfing is also a favored activity, as well as sailing. Guests may also choose to go island-hopping as the surrounding islands not far away are also beautiful. But before you go exploring other islands, take the time to go round Pamalican itself. Measuring five and a half kilometers at its farthest point and only 500 meters across, you can finish a tour on foot in less than a day. If you don't feel like walking, there's a golf cart assigned for each casita that you may use to travel around.

If you prefer to stay indoors, there are several activities that you can do within the island, like sample Amanpulo Resort's excellent spa services. You may choose to enjoy a nice massage and other aromatherapy treatments from the resort's resident masseuses in the privacy of your rented casita or in the Spa Casita (you may also get a massage while in the Garden or Beach Sala). Or if you are a fitness buff, feel free to use the fully-equipped gym or play in any of the tennis courts (there are two) in front of the Clubhouse.

As it's an exclusive Philippine travel destination, Amanpulo is only accessible through chartered flights from Manila (prepare US$400 for a roundtrip package). Guests are flown directly to Pamalican, where they will land at the island's own private airstrip. If you are concerned that the place might be too isolated for its own good, there's no need to worry. Amanpulo Resort is fairly self-sufficient (it even has its own doctor and nurse in residence). Cellular phone signal is strong while the Internet is accessible thanks to the complimentary island-wide 2MB Wi-Fi connection.

According to partial 2009 data of the Department of Tourism, domestic travels reported a dramatic 21 percent increase despite the decline in international tourist arrivals in all world regions.

The Philippines is a wonderful tropical country, with a fantastically diverse array of culture, wildlife, and landscape scattered across the 7,107 islands that make up the Philippine archipelago. The vast majority of the 2 million travellers who visit the Philippines each year have incident-free trips. But, as with almost any country in the world, there are dangers individual to the Philippines that travellers need to be aware of before they go.

The countries in the tropics are both blessed and cursed by their location. The Philippines sits on the edge of the Pacific Ring of Fire, where seismic disturbances are common. This is why the Philippines is prone to so many active volcanoes; but thankfully modern scientific methods are able to give early warning of eruptions. Of greater importance still, is that the country sits inside the Western Pacific tsunami belt, and suffer, on average, 19 strikes a year. Exemptions such as this are likely to affect remuneration for displacement expenses more than medical care. Also, things like backpacking may need dedicated backpackers insurance.

The other main unexpected exemption is for sports such as scuba diving. The Philippines is one of the world’s top diving destinations, so again, make sure that the policy covers this. Some companies even offer policies that take into account such extreme activities and sports. Generally, it does not cost much toditional cover, and this is sometimes the easiest way to make sure an existing policy provides adequate cover.

Mt. Apo

Dulang-Dulang is logistically challenging, according to expert climbers. So it is best to consult local climbers and be equipped with travel information about the mountain.

Mt. Pulag

I'll get straight to the fun stuff mate. Girly Bars are heaps good fun and expensive if your not carefull. Depends on the quality of what girls you like and your budget. In Manila I highly suggest two streets where you will find some of the best girls for a fun evening. Quezon Avenue in Quezon City and P.Burgos situated along Makati Avenue in Makati. Both are the red light districts so to say and many many good clubs. Prices Range from 550 pesos per hour just to sit and drink with a pretty lady. Ofcourse other things happen there and if your up for that sort of thing then exrta services attract extra prices.

Your not going to the beach resorts without any company are you? So good idea go find a girl/s if you like and take them on afew days trip to a nice island. Borocay is ok but lots of people and very overpriced. Puerto Galera is a good choice, very relaxing and not to crowded and its much closer.

Try to stick to a budget as common sense goes out the window when one is having fun and don't fall in love with any girl you meet to fast now. Since your a white guy they will treat you differently and very nicely too but your there for fun right and its your first time in the country so your basically just getting a feel for it. Don't pressure yourself by saying your going to find a keeper. Plenty of time for that later mate. Enjoy your youth and join the slave line later.

Tips on travel - Cavite?

I am planning a trip to Cavite, Philippines in July. I would be grateful for any tips on how to get there from Manila (is it possible to go direct from the airport?), what Cavite is actually like, and any accommodation tips.

1. From the airport, take a "metered taxi" from the airport. You may want to take good but 4-star hotel Island Cove. Just tell the Taxi Driver (pre-paid taxis from the airport, they will issue receipt). I think it is between 700-1000 pesos only.

2. Island Cove is a resort. I think one night stay is 2,500 per room or 3,500 but its worth it, good amenities.

3. From Kawit, you can visit Tagaytay, you may want to contact the hotel concierge for details. But from the hotel you can take jeepney or tricycle going to SM Mall and from Aguinaldo Hi-Way take a bus to Tagaytay.

4. Tagaytay has many hotels, you can choose from bed and breakfast to the 5-star hotels there. Good and quiet, safe.

Is it legal for a a hotel, resort or dive shop to charge you an 6 to 8 percent fee for using your Visa there?

I have had the experience of trying to use my Visa Card on both of the Bay Islands in Honduras. They have tried to change me 6 to 8 % fee for using my visa. Isn't this in violation of there agreement with Visa? I had no problems with hotels on the mainland doing this.

I also experience this in the Philippines in Puerto Galera.

If it is Illegal who do I turn them in to and how do I get my money back?

It is in violation of the Visa agreements. I too have experienced this with smaller establishments in certain areas. It is illegal to do that in my country but there was nothing I could do. They would rather not do business with you. Sometimes I agree to pay if it would cause me more inconvenience to withdraw cash.

If you were not informed before you were charged for it, maybe you get a chance to get it back but are you willing to go through all the hassle? If you agreed to pay the fee when paid for it, why do you want to get the fee back unless it is substantial. Those establishments may be going through a third party to get your payment.

Just do not patronize those establishments.

DH and I finally got to stay onsite for the first time this fall. We were @Port Orleans Riverside and enjoyed it and ease of transportation system from Airport to Resort and also to the Theme Parks.

Some airlines book WDW vacation packages, so check rates with airline you prefer to fly with.

I had everything as a child and as a young adult I still have everything. Things of value are bought for me. I travel first class everywhere, I drive the best cars and I carry an Amex centurion to cap it I enjoy a fantastic luxury life. I have no financial worries at all. So don’t try to preach poverty to me because I won’t understand you.

One day I got up and left, I travelled to Thailand then the Philippines to try and discover myself, a kind of enlightenment perhaps, but just something I needed to do. My girlfriend busted up with me, my friends, well I’m not sure if I have any real ones, were nowhere to be seen. So off I went, first Thailand then the Philippines. As my ex explained to me, I lack that adventurous spirit, I lack character and I lack gumption, all I have is mummy’s money nothing more and nothing less.

Escape

My roommate at school was sleeping heavily that morning so it was easy for me to slip out unnoticed.  I climbed over the wall to avoid the screws, with passport and a little luggage; I travelled to the airport and took the first flight out to Thailand. When I got to Bangkok I got in a taxi and asked the driver to take me to a hotel, any hotel would do but was willing to pay a reasonable price.  Dusit Thani Bangkok seemed like a reasonable hotel, but it seemed like all the other five star hotels I had stayed in many other different countries. Its marble flooring, gold fittings- the Majesty Suite seemed too perfect for someone as imperfect as me.  And I wondered how I would find enlightenment here amongst this wealth of luxury and extravagance. I spent a week in Bangkok, saw the sites, did some shopping, ate some great food and missed my ex-girlfriend so I tried to call her. When she didn’t answer, it made me feel worse than ever so I got drunk that night. Determined to seek some form of discovery I took another flight, this time to Manila in the Philippines, as I didn’t know my way around I checked into Dusit Thani Manila, again a slightly newer version of the Bangkok Dusit but beautiful just the same, unlike Bangkok the Philippines lacked a certain spiritual element that I had found at some of the temples there. However, some of the ornate Catholic churches were beautiful and interesting and I allowed myself time to pray and take stock of my life.

The road to enlightenment

After staying a week in Manila I received a call from the front desk asking if I’d like to extend my stay for another week. The hotel food was excellent, I had everything I needed- a fitness club and wonderful international cuisine. So I decided to extend my stay here since I was beginning to feel more and more enlightened. That is until, the front desk informed me that my credit card had been cancelled and did I have another one?  “Unfortunately no” I replied –still thinking over optimistically that I’d be allowed to stay after making a few phone calls. Of course Dusit Thani Manila is not a charity and they advised me that I could stay the night but would have to find alternative hotel accommodation as soon as could be arranged. I thought about calling mummy but changed my mind since she was probably one of the reasons I was there in the first place.  I was in rather a mess unfortunately, I lay awake that night wondering where my next hotel fee would come from, whether I could find a place to stay or even a meal to eat. The thought frightened me and I felt a surge of desperation creep over me. The next morning the helpful hotel staff advised me that I should contact my embassy, which seemed to be a good idea at the time. I did so and was informed that my Mother had been searching for me and after learning that the card had been used in the Philippines; she cancelled it in order to call me in. She’d worried about me and so had everyone else, my school included. She offered to come over and bring me back home but I insisted that if she’d reinstate my card I would come back on the earliest flight.  Of course I did finally return home but it took at least 3 more months. More enlightenment was necessary or is called luxury nowadays?

I really can't decide if I will pursue this opportunity because I have no idea if I will be in a company which is in lined with what I have studied.
