Cebu Extra! No Bail Recommended For "shabu Queen"

Jasmin U. Labacokang-  (The Freeman News) Updated February 09, 2010 12:00 AM

CEBU, Philippines - Unlike in her previous arrests, the Regional Trial Court has denied bail to Chueve Lim tagged by police as the “shabu queen.”

Prosecutors yesterday charged Lim and her friend Edna Flores before the court for drug possession and selling. They were caught in a buy-bust operation last February 3 in barangay Basak San Nicolas.

Police said Lim was in possession of 4.89 grams of shabu in big plastic packs and 1.74 grams of shabu in medium plastic packs. She also allegedly sold 4.42 grams of shabu during the buy-bust.

Meanwhile, Flores was charged of selling 0.18 grams of shabu. Prosecutors recommended P200,000 as bail, but she may have to remain in jail owing to the other non-bailable offense.

Lim and Flores are currently detained at the Cebu City Jail.

Under Sec. 5, Art. 2 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002, a person who sells, delivers or distributes a dangerous drug, regardless of the quantity and purity involved, faces a penalty of life imprisonment or death, which can be an unbailable offense if evidence of guilt is strong.

It was the fourth time that Lim was arrested on drug charges, police said.

On February 2008, Lim and her friend Grace Alejandrino were arrested by police during a raid at Alejandrino’s home in Quimada Street, barangay Guadalupe.

Lim was allowed to post bail because only less than three grams of shabu was found in her possession.

Alejandrino, on the other hand, was not allowed to post bail after police recovered shabu worth about P1 million from her residence. — Jasmin U. Labaco/JMO  (FREEMAN NEWS)

Diving Locations

diving locations"diving locations"
What airlines allow you to bring scuba diving equipment for free?

Are there any airlines out there that realize that scuba divers travel to exotic locations with their heavy gear and have added dive equipment into the free luggage allowance? Golf equipment and surfboards already are common so why not dive gear?

Scuba equipment is like anything else you check in as baggage. It is subject to the same rules and regs as checked baggage. I am an instructor, own a PADI Dive Center, and I have trucked my gear to all parts of the world (including bringing my own soft weights!). If my bag was overweight, I wore my weight belt and carried the regulator in my carry-on. Pack light. What else do you need if you're a real diver? Shorts and T-shirts, and maybe one good set of clothes--IF--and that's a big if--want to go out to party. (Remember, if you stay out late, you'll miss the dive boat in the morning!) Just make friends with other divers, and get together with them, and don't worry about your clothes. Incidentally, keep that dive knife in the gear bag and check it into luggage. By the way, my gear weighs about 40 lbs., and most airlines allow 50 lbs.

That said, I have had a negative experience in a well known dive destination: Cozumel. Coming in with dive gear, I checked in my luggage and paid nothing extra--I was within the airline luggage rate regulations. Leaving, I had the same luggage, same airline, same flight-and they told me my bags were over the allowed limit, and I'd have to pay a $100 fee. After arguing for a half hour, causing a scene, and backing up the line, they finally let me through without an additional charge. If it happens again, I will contact the airline and file a formal complaint. I doubt that it would do any good, but you never know. However, it would be a good idea to arm yourself with airline documentation that states poundage allowed, and other regulations, so you can be prepared, just in case. I have also met a lot of surfers and golfers (I live in a resort location--Manzanillo, Colima--in Mexico). To my knowledge, they exchange a surfboard or a golf bag for the equivalent of one piece of luggage.

Subic Hotels And Resorts

Looking for a great, high-end (?) resort in Luzon. Any suggestions?

Going on a roadtrip and looking to spend 10,000-a-night on a boutique hotel/resort.

Something like Lighthouse in Subic ( http://www.lighthousesubic.com/ ) or Acuatico in Laiya ( http://www.acuaticoresort.com.ph/ ).

Willing to drive 6 hours tops. Any ideas?
Hi. Please no narky answers. This is the first vacation I've had in five years. And I'd like to be pampered for a change. I know 10K's a lot, but I saved up for it. Please don't tell me how to spend my money. (Yes, Dom, I'm looking at you and your self-righteous answer.)

For a great pampering, go to Segara Villas in Subic. It is better than Lighthouse. Indulge yourself in this spa-hotel, where all accommodations are in villas. A villa I got is called Denpasar, costing me P10,900 per day.

I refer you to my reply to a question about Subic where I even compared Lighthouse with Segara Villas. The links are also there.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsG755QCdkZCl6T0l8BPkXjty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100212090254AALHvcZ&show=7#profile-info-k1GnXuqPaa

Or you can go to Punta Fuego in Nasugbu, Batangas. Punta Fuego id the Forbes Park of beaches. But you must find a friend who can refer you, because Punta Fuego is exclusively for homeowners, members, and their guests. There are beautiful cabanas for members and guests who did not build beach homes in Punta Fuego. There is a wharf for yachts, and a beautiful golf course overlooking the ocean. Or you may just want to laze around their infinity pools, in different locations within the complex.

The two other alternatives are Anvaya Cove in Morong and Tagaytay Highlands, both of which are also members-only. But chances are you or your friends know some who are members.

Anvaya Cove is the Ayala Group's response to the high-end Punta Fuego.

I trust you will like both places when you see them, or even by first going into their website. Please just google.

Go ahead and indulge, nothing wrong with it. We all deserve worldly pleasures every so often.

Beauty of Philippine Holidays

Philippine holidays have become well known around the world because there are so many great places to see in this South east Asian country. For starters, Philippine holidays can be very much spent by its beautiful beaches that have pristine white sands and vast marine life. Thanks to the beautiful weather that the Philippines has, this is the one place where you will be able to feast over fresh tropical fruits, abundant sea food and green and fresh vegetables. The lush green lands, mountains and clear blue ocean waters are generally the backdrop you will find when you set foot on the towns and provinces of the Philippines.

Spending your Philippine holidays island hopping is very much possible because Philippines is an archipelago which means it is composed of islands. Having over 7,107 islands, Philippines is no doubt very rich with natural resources.

From travellers to beach lovers and nature aficionados, you will surely be able to find your place during your Philippine holidays. There are so many beautiful places to see here. You may begin exploring the historical sites and towns of the country. Having been under the Spanish influence for more than 300 years, you will notice that most of the ancient structures here are of Spanish influence. The western influence which is mostly seen in Manila, the country's capital, come not only in the form of modern homes but also in the establishments from malls to restaurants and even in the lifestyle for the Philippines have also been under the American rule.

Most of the travellers that head to this part of Asia for their Philippine holidays are mostly after its beaches. During the months of April to May, the beaches can get real crowded as this is the time when everybody wants a piece of the Philippine holidays. Popular beaches here are in Cebu, Palawan and Caticlan particularly in Boracay. A great thing to do during your Philippine holidays while at the beaches are engaging into water sports such as surfing, swimming, and diving. You can very much spend the whole day under the sun lying on the white sands and just getting a good tan. When you stay at Boracay, don't miss out on riding the ‘banana boat' you will surely have loads of fun riding it.

During the night time, Boracay turns into a lively night life spot where the best beach parties are held at the shores of the beaches.  Famous DJs bring out those hype tunes as people go dancing on the sands. You will also get to watch locals in the area building ‘sand art' and to think these locals didn't even have formal training, now that's talent!

Your Philippine holidays may also be spent by going on eco adventures. Philippines has tropical rainforests in certain areas that have been left untouched over the years. If you are the adventurous type you will gladly want to ride on zip lines, walk on rope bridges and other fun activities. Families coming here to spend quality time together will surely never forget the experience for there is so much to see during your Philippine holidays.

It's better to apply the visa in Manila, though you can apply the visa in HK.

For one day in Shenzhen, you can go there on your own. You can take the KCR train from Kowloon, and it takes around 40 minutes to Shenzhen with HKD 33.

Meet Philippine Women From Filipina Dating Sites For Marriage

There are a lot of guys like you who would like to marry a Filipina  woman. Some choose to wed a Philippines woman from Philippine , others just intend  to date a Filipino girl in their own city.

If you choose to marry a Philippine woman from Philippines , then here are some tips for you.

Be ready to enroll in Philippine dating sites.

This is the best avenue for you to find Filipina women from Manila  who are looking for a serious relationship leading to a marriage.

It is easy to meet Filipino women online. You can at this moment sign up  in Filipino dating sites and initiate communicating with members. If you are keen to be introduced to Filipino girls from Philippine  only, then you have the option to do so. Mostly, they are the ones attracted to be acquainted with a gentleman like you looking for a serious relationship leading to a wedding.

Put up an appealing online dating profile.

What I suggest with this is that, you should certainly publish a nice and clear snapshot of yourself. It must be recent and not a photo of you several years ago. Take note, you are looking to marry a Filipina woman. Remember that marriage is a serious matter, especially with girls from Philippines.

Prepare to travel to Manila.

If you do not intend  to sign up in Philippine dating sites, then you might as well holiday at Philippines  and get a Filipino girl there. This alternative is a bit more complicated for you to bump into the suitable young woman, unless you already have a few Filipino acquaintances who will go with you to Philippines  and show you about and present you to unmarried Philippine girls whom they know. Nevertheless, if you just fly on the plane to Manila , then you will probably meet the wrong girls when you will be there, so be careful.

Though, if you previously encounter Philippines ladies online, and made acquaintances with a number of of them, you will have the opportunity to choose just a few, and then pick one girl amongst them. You can then prefer to meet up this girl in Philippine , and come go to see her and meet her family too. If you are willing to meet her family, it will show her that you are really serious about getting to know her better and in your relationship with her. Filipinas have close family ties, and her folks is very significant to her.

Be committed and mature.

Philippine women are very particular about faithfulness, so you should show that she can believe you. If you have committed yourself to a serious relationship with a Filipino  woman, let her know that you mean everything you say. If you tell her that you will come back and marry her, then do it. If you tell her that you will do everything to bring her to your country and marry her there, then make sure of it. If you tell her that you care for her, then mean it with all your heart. Once you gained a Filipino woman's love and respect, then you will feel to be a very lucky man.

What are the best places for tourists to visit in the Philippines? ?

I'd like to visit the Philippines but where would you suggest are the best places to see. I dont just want to visit the usual tourist atractions or resorts. I'd also like to experience the culture and life in the provinces. Also where are places to avoid for safety reasons. Finaly where are safe places I can take children to in the Philippines. Where's the best places to eat?

It depends on your age and what you like. There is something for everyone. Young and old.
There are many beach resorts. Some with casinos nearby, some with surfing, snorkeling or just beach combing.
There is Tagatay, which has Mt Taal Volcano in the middle of the lake. There is Mt Apo which is a good hike to the top.
Then, there are the historical spots that are famous. If you check in advance, you might want to be present at one of its famous cultural festivals. Dancing in cultural costumes and music and food.
It depends on how much time and money you have and what your interests are.

What are the Losses Travel Insurance Covers!!!

Travel insurance implies the coverage for pitfalls associated with travel. This type of insurance is intended to cover financial and other losses incurred at the time traveling. The losses may be incurred in a domestic or an international level. Broadly travel insurance coverage can be classified under the following heads:

Cancellation of a trip

Very often it happens like this that the traveler must cancel the trip because of unforeseen circumstances. It may be physical illness or any such emergency. Now, if the holiday package is already bought then he must have to face a big financial loss. It is under such circumstances travel insurance works like a savior.

Interruption during the trip

This type of travel insurance covers the damages occurred due to trip interruption. In the event a trip is interrupted because of illness or the booked hotel ceases to continue to operate or any other such occurrences, the traveler shall face a financial loss. However, if the trip is insured then he can avoid this loss.

Loss of luggage or other valuables

Since the work of a traveler is to move from here and there, he may lose his luggage or other such expensive possessions during his journey. To cover the financial damage incurred because of the inconvenience resulted from the loss of luggage one can go for travel insurance.

Other types of losses

In addition to the above, travel insurance covers delayed departure, emergency replacement of essential items, medical expenses, accidental death, injury or disablement benefit, personal liability and rental car damage, legal assistance, loss of income, high risk sports like skiing, scuba-diving, travel to high risk countries etc.

Any reviews on Riu Paradise Island Bahamas resort?

My fiance and I are going away to get married and we just want a small wedding on the beach so we have booked the Riu Resort in Nassau Bahamas. If you have pictures from your trip there I would love to see them! I would the advice! Thanks in advance!

We just came back from a vacation in paradise. We travelled to the Bahamas from June 8 - June 15/08 to celebrate our 5th year Wedding Anniversary. We were pleasantly surprised by our upgraded room. The price that we paid for our vacation was excellent. In fact, I've never seen a deal like it before especially for the Bahamas. We paid $597.00 per person for a 7 night all inclusive stay!

The Riu Paradise Island is a wonderful resort, with hardworking staff members. Every day was sunshine while we were there. The food was amazing. There was always something to eat. Breakfast was one of our favourite meals. So much to choose from, and we found the food always fresh. If you get a chance, be sure to book the speciality restaurants. We loved all 3. If we had to pick a favourite one, it would be "Sir Alexander" the Gourmet restaurant. It was so initimate, and sweet. We also loved the Japanese and Steakhouse.

The Beaches are amazing!!!!!!!!!!! The white sandy beaches, with the beautiful ocean water was perfect and made our vacation that much better.

Its also good to travel into town if you get a chance. We felt safe, and the shopping is pretty good. The straw market was an interesting place to visit, but you will find a deal. Actually, you will find that they will automatically drop the prices once they see that your not super interested. The people are nice, and not pushy which was a nice change.

All in all, if you are looking for an amazing vacation in a beautiful place with great beaches, excellent food, and great accomodations, pick Riu Paradise Island.

Make Your Holiday Truly Special By Traveling Philippines

Philippines is one of the most compelling and attracting tourist destinations not only in Asia but the whole world. It is an archipelago nation located in Southeast Asia and it is as charming a destination you can ever imagine.

The Philippine archipelago consists of 7,107 beautiful islands, spreading a total area of 300,000 sq km with Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao constituting the main island groups in the country. Known for its scenic islands, exotic beaches, fascinating volcanoes, fantastic diving spots and elusive wildlife among many more attractions, the Philippines is a lovable place to visit. Philippines boasts of hundreds of seductive tourist destinations, making it a popular choice for nature lovers, honeymooners and adventure seekers from across the world.

Philippines is home to some of the most enchanting beaches in the world comprising the famous White Beach on Boracay Island, which is conferred the tag of the most beautiful tropical beach in the world. Cebu, which comes after the capital Manila for its popularity, possesses some of the most excellent diving spots in the world, making it a favorite destination for adventure seekers.

The islands of Panglao, Balicasag and Pamilacan in Bohol also have world-class diving spots. Bohol also has beautiful beaches which includes the famous Alona Beach at Panglao. The highly sought after Tall Volcano and the amazing Tall Lake at Tagaytay never fail to quench the thirst of its visitors for natural beauty.

Besides its unbelievable scenic beauty, Philippines has a lot more to fascinate its visitors. The cultural, historical and architectural heritages of the Philippines are set to enchant those who are interested in exploring the historical background of the nation. The beautiful colonial structures of Vigan in Ilocos and World War II markers of Manila are ever lasting heritage sites.

The Filipinos are generally energetic and relaxed people and choose to enjoy almost every occasion with great flourish. The lively and colorful festivals are major tourist interests in the Philippines. Philippines conducts numerous colorful festivals, celebrated across the year in all parts of the country.

Those who want to flex their muscles a bit will never leave Philippines disappointed. Philippines offers a compelling range of leisure and adventure activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, hiking, trekking, and a rich diversity of water sports. The lovely beaches of Philippines gives you the perfect ambience to relax, sunbath, and numerous other exciting beach activities.

Filipinos are extremely hospitable people. Guests are often considered like royalty in Philippine households. This is revealed noticeably during fiestas when even absolute strangers are accepted and permitted to partake of the feast that most, if not all, households within the town arrange during the occasion. Quite often, this hospitality is mistaken. Some households allocate their complete savings on their fiesta offerings and sometimes are even indebted just to provide splendid food on their table. They use the next year compensating these debts and readying themselves for the next fiesta.

The country features an excellent blend of cultures; in the Philippines, you can witness the jelling of East and West cultures. The roots of the people in this nation mainly lie in Indonesia and Malaysia. You can also find tints of Chinese and Spanish elements as well. The American rule of the past and indulging with merchants and traders resulted in a rare blend of East and West. You will be able to find this in the appearance and character of the Filipinos, or people of the Philippines.

There is no question about the artistic versatility and scenic beauty of Philippines. You are now familiar with the diverse attractions available as well. It is up to you to ensure that your next trip is to this majestic country.

Dive Shops Philippines

Can a divemaster course be taken at two different dive shops?

I want to do my divemasters course. I know it takes approximately a month to complete. I live in Korea. I am heading to the phillippines for vacation. I am wondering if I can do the first two weeks in the Philippines and the other two weeks at a different dive shop when I get back to Korea?

Divemaster is hard to split up. You may be able to do all of the class work and tests with the first instructor and complete all the confined and open water skills with your second. You will need a referral from your first instructor no matter what. You may have to pay more or even double for your certification. You may even have to do parts over again for your certifying instructor. I would suggest waiting till you get back to Korea so all of your paperwork is in one place. It makes it much easier going through one dive shop instead of having to gather things from different countries.

Good luck in your class

Luxuriate In The Most Luxurious Luxury Hotels

Now when it comes to high end quality hotel accommodation it doesn't come much better than the incredible 5 star hotels that are smattered across the world's most inspiring hot spots. Or does it? There is a new drive for hotels that exceed the incredibly opulent 5 star hotels and aim to achieve higher rankings.

These ambitious hotels are achieving 6 stars and some of these pleasure domes have even dubbed themselves 7 stars. So where should you go if money isn't an issue and you want to find the most luxurious hotel in the world? There are a handful of these extraordinary hotels dotted around the world. Here is a selection of a few of my favourites.

Burj Al Arab

Arguably the most famous of all hotels in the world the burj al arab refers to itself as a 7 star hotel and as a result is the only 7 star hotel in the world that is currently operational. There are a number of other 7 star hotels that are currently under construction in the world. The morgan plaza in Beijing is set to be completed in time for the Olympics whilst in Iranian kish developers are working on the Flower of the East which is an enormous complex that is fashioned to look like its namesake; a flower.

There are also 7 star hotels on the way in Pakistan and in the Philippines. Nevertheless the Burj Al Arab is currently the most opulent of all hotels. Constructed to look like a ships sail the 202 luxury suites represent the finest in the world renowned levels of Arab exquisite hospitality. Famous for having a roof top tennis court this hotel provides everything man could ever want or desire in its 321 metre tall building. The hotel aims to make the experience unique for each of its visitors and has an unbelievable team of butlers that will look after every aspect of your stay.

The Bora Bora Lagoon Resort and Spa

This beautiful hotel is located on a private island a short distance from the main island of Bora Bora. Situated in a secluded enclave the accommodation pods are built to a traditional Tahitian architectural style and offer sumptuous sleeping space. There are no roads or direct access to this hotel with access instead available through a regular boat service. The hotel has direct access to spectacular reef and has served directly by a number of pristine secluded beaches. From these stunning settings it is possible to get involved in a number of incredible activities including diving and shark feeding. The resort is also the perfect venue for a simple day relaxing and if you want to do nothing at all there is nowhere finer to do it.

Sunset cruises on the lagoon offer a wonderful conclusion to any day in this paradise resort. As would be expected the finish of the rooms is incredible. Each room provides everything that is expected of high end quality. They have air conditioning, satellite television, polished wood floors and idd telephone connectivity. There is also a sliding glass top coffee table through which guests can watch and feed the tropical fish in the lagoon.

Whale watching? When is the best time to go whale watching in Nova Scotia?

Does anybody know of any good tours/resorts for this activity?

It really depends on which whales you want to see. Certain types of whales come out during fall, summer and spring. Usually July would be a good time to see some but maybe not the ones you want to see. I think September is a popular time
I think i went to the one in Quebec same general area.

Philippines Holiday

The Melting Pot in the Philippines Called Baguio City

The city of Baguio is a popular tourist destination in the north of the Philippines. Surrounded by a lush trapical rainforest it is a beautiful place to visit.

Baguio City in the Philippines became a chartered city over 100 years ago on September 1st 1909. Before that, the Kankanaeys and the Ibalois were the natives inhabiting the city which was then called bag-iw that translated to English means moss. This was because the Baguio that we know now as an highly urbanised city built in a tropical rain forest was once covered with moss and a prolific amount of natural resources.

When the Americans arrived in 1900 and built the highways which connected the city to the lowlands, people started to hear about its incredible beauty and the hidden paradise on top of the mountains. Since then, Baguio City has become well known all over the country as the summer capital of the Philippines and is now a popular tourist destination for visitors from the lowlands and particularly in the summer when the population generally doubles. Tourism has become one of Baguio's main industries, attracting both local and foreign tourists.

There are a lot of people who have chosen to settle in the city due to its mild climate and magnificant surroundings. It may not be obvious but despite Baguio being named a city, the cost of living is still significantly lower compared to the other urban areas in the Philippines. The large numbers of people who have settled in the city from far and wide lead to a really good mix of cultures. Various ethno linguistic groups from all over the country can be found in Baguio. People coming from all over the world have decided to settle and make a living in the fascinating city of Pines. Different cultures, languages and social statuses find refuge in the city known as Baguio, making it seem like a melting pot of all walks of life.

Being called a melting pot, the various cultures that have come to emerge in the city sometimes seem to have blended into one. Though Ilocano is known as the lingua franca of the city, English is still widely used along with Filipino. With this, everybody is able to understand each other no matter what nationality or ethno linguistic group a person belongs to. The people are accommodating, honest and helpful resulting in the inhabitants of the city getting along very well with each other which makes Baguio City feel warm and welcoming to it's visitors.

Different cultures with different origins, the people of Baguio have surely expanded to accommodate everybody. Though this may be the case, the original inhabitants of the city once known as bag-iw are still its major occupants. With all the other cultures dominating, the Kankanaeys and Ibalois should never be neglected for all that they have done. They have been here long enough to know the city from every angle and surely have preserved their culture through all these years.
