Tours Philippines

Is it possible for a Peace Corps volunteer to spend three tours consecutively in one country?

I have a Peace Corp volunteer friend who's about to finish his two tours in the Philippines and now he wants to renew for third time. Is this possible? Are there any tour of duty limitations in a single country?

Your friend needs to talk to his CD. It's only with that person's permission it's possible, and the CD won't have the final say -- it will lie with the Regional Manager.

And it might be tough, since after two terms, he's unlikely to have the same CD he came in with. A newer CD might not be familiar enough with your friend's work to fight for it, which is what it will take.

See the Peace Corps manual, which is posted here: http://www.peacecorpsjournals.com/manual/MS281.html#3.0--extension_of_volunteer_service_within_the_host_country

"3.3.2 Extensions Beyond 25 Months
A Volunteer's request for an extension of service beyond 25 months from the original COS date may be approved only by the Regional Director. The Country Director shall send an email, fax, or cable to the Regional Director explaining why, based on the criteria in paragraph 3.2 above, the extension is warranted; what extraordinary circumstances warrant the extension beyond 25 months; and whether special leave would be applicable. The Regional Director shall send an email, fax, or cable to the Country Director either approving or disapproving the request. If the request is approved, the Country Director must report the extension using the format described in paragraph 3.3.1, noting the Regional Director's approval. "
