It must be my visit to the mystical, magical island of Siquijor. Memorable because the whole island is just so beautiful, and the sand is white everywhere - - - including those in the fishing villages. I felt like I was in an island paradise, away from it all. The island is remote and not very popular because some people even avoid the place, believing that the island is populated by witches, sorcerers, "mangkukulams", "mambabarangs". None of these is true. The people are genuinely nice and happy that i thought I could live there.

A scene that is etched in my mind is that of kids on the beach who climb up a rope suspended from a coconut trunk and then sway from the suspended rope and drop themselves on the water with a nice splash. It was so beautiful I wanted to do it myself, but I did not want to spoil the fun the kids were having.

I stayed in the premiere resort on the first night, and moved to another resort the next day. While service on the second resort was wanting, the overall beauty of the island more than made up for some lapses.

I have blogged about this place and a couple of friends visited Siquijor on the basis of my wonderful experience they felt when they read my blog post. Sharing my blog on Siquijor so that others travel to this island too, either vicariously or by actually going there to feel the sand on their feet.
