Motel Manila

I need info on getting a Philippine Visa for a female?

Ok People I need your help I love asian women so Im going out on a limb on this I have met a girl a few months ago and she lives in the Philippines so Im trying to get her here to the USA she lives in Davao and has two children she has given me a cost of $807.00 US $$ this includes a plane trip to manila plus motel for the embassy interview .....also includes Drs office visit for Health cert for travel into the USA ..... Now my question is ..... is she telling me correctly or is this a little high this is for a tourist Visa if u have any help and input please give me your opinion

If she is in the Philippines and you are in the U.S. she does not need a Philippine visa she needs a U.S. visa.

If you are trying to get her a tourist visa, like Bill said, you might as well hang that one out to dry, 99% impossibility.

If you are trying to get a Fiancee visa, Have you met her in person do you have photos and letters to prove you have met her? If not that is 99.5% impossibility.

Also even if you have met her in person I hope you have a very, very good income, to meet the income level that the U.S. immigration requires to get her to the States.

Have you filled the papers for her to come to the U.S.?

You are the one who has to file the first paper work, not her.

For her to go to Manila, (she is not going alone) so you are paying for at least 2 to go, herself and at least one companion, (which is fair).

If you have met her and you have filed and everything is in order, The price you give is pretty cheap, (if that is all it costs)

If she is lying to you that is still a cheap price to learn a lesson, others have been taken for a lot more.

By the way if you have to ask if she is "telling you correctly" maybe you don't know her as well as you should.

Surfing Spot In The Philippines

surfing spot in the philippines"surfing spot in the philippines"
Wheres the best surf spots in the Philippines and are there any crowds?

plus are there and shops to rent or buy boards

besides siargao and la union, there's another in baler, aurora province. it's said to be the real first surfing capital of the philippines. not much crowded yet so you'll have the waves to yourself though foreigners have gone there already to surf. the locals have picked up the sport too so for sure you'd find a lot of stores that sell surfing stuff.

Scuba Diving Holiday Packages

Scuba Diving Holidays?

Thinking about going on a scuba diving holiday as a family, however none of us have any previous experience. I understand that a PADI open water course is needed to be taken and this can be done along with many holiday packages. However to those who have been on these before/ had more experience than us... is it better to do the theory stuff beforehand so you dont have to do the "boring part" whilst on holiday?
Additionally where are the best places to go and learn scuba diving?
Thanks

Under the PADI system, you can do the pool and theory training through a dive centre in your local area, at your own pace and convenience, and then do the qualifying dives at a resort--it's called a 'referral course'. Doing your course this way is a very good idea, especially if none of you have dived before--if it turned out that diving's not your thing (it's not to everyone's taste), you could pack the course in at home, without spoiling your holiday.

The way the referral course works is, your instructor at home fills out a form to say which theory and pool training sessions you've completed successfully (there are five of each, plus a multi-choice theory exam and an easy 'swim test'), and you take that form with you on holiday. The dive centre where you do the skills training may be able to recommend--or even book for you--a place to do the qualifying dives. Once you get to your holiday destination, the receiving instructor fits you with any equipment you don't already have (I don't recommend you buy everything straight off--maybe just snorkelling gear), and takes you for the qualifying dives.

Depending on how long it was between you doing the training and going on your holiday, and/or how confident you are, the instructor may also recommend that you do a 'SCUBA review' (or 'refresher course') (a half-day, one dive), before you start on the qualifying dives. This will give you some extra tuition time during which (1) you can get used to the new gear (2) you can get your weightbelt set right, so buoyancy control is easier, and (3) the instructor can see how comfortable you are with all the necessary skills, and help you iron out any problems s/he notices.

(During pool training, the instructor demonstrates each skill for you before asking you to do it. On the qualifying dives, the instructor doesn't do any skill demonstrations, since you're supposed to be showing that you've learnt how to do them already--all you'll get will be a pre-dive briefing, and then signals underwater).

PADI requires 4 open water dives for Open Water Diver, which will take you 2 days (2 dives per day), so if all goes well, you could even fit your Advanced Open Water Licence (5 dives, usually also over 2 days) into a week-long holiday. :-)

The best places to learn or go SCUBA diving depend on where you live. For Europeans, then the Red Sea would always be my advice. For Americans, Florida, the Caribbean or Hawai'i are closest/most convenient. For Australians, the Great Barrier Reef (via Cairns or Townsville) is a must-see. Yes, I like warm tropical diving, and I'm not ashamed to admit it! :-)

Feel free to email me through Y!A (or check out my previous answers to SCUBA-related stuff) if you have any more questions.

All the best.

Local Philippines: Have Fun in Bulacan

Bulacan is a household name in Philippine literatures due to its rich historical heritage. The province, which is located north of Manila, is the birthplace of some of the country's great men and women such as Marcelo H. del Pilar, Gregorio del Pilar, Francisco Baltazar, Nicanor Abelardo, and Guillermo Tolentino, among others. Bulacan is also the cradle of Asia's first constitutional democracy.

Aside from its full-bodied past, Bulacan is also considered one of the favorite travel destinations among local and foreign tourists due to its immediate proximity to Metro Manila. The province, which is less than an hour drive from the metro, has its fair share of astonishing attractions that are magnets to discerning travelers.

Most travel guides about the Philippines list Bulacan as one of the best backpacking destinations in the country. Tourists can use the public transport system to roam around the province. There is also a host of resorts and hotels that are perfect for overnight stay. So pack your bags and get those traveling feet ready for an ultimate Bulacan experience. The following are some of the must-see attractions in the province.

Barasoain Church
Start your Bulacan trip by making a stop in Barasoain Church in Malolos. Dubbed as the "Cradle of Democracy in the East," this 17th century structure was the site of the First Philippine Congress on September 29, 1898. It was destroyed at the height of the Philippine Revolution but was renovated several times to preserve its original structure. Never miss a visit to a light and sound museum while in Barasoain Church.

Verdivia Falls
One of the natural wonders in Bulacan is the Verdivia Falls in the municipality of Dona Remedios Trinidad. This body of water is known for its wide-catch basin. Verdivia Falls is best for group picnics and outings. The local government is offering tourists an overnight vacation package that includes different activities such as trekking, swimming, and community immersion.

Obando Fertility Dance
Bulacan, which covers an area of 2,774.85 square kilometers, is also famous for its colorful events and festivals. One of the more popular among them is the Obando Fertility Dance, which is held from May 17 to 19. It is believed that childless couples have their prayers answered by dancing and praying to the Virgin of Salambao. The festival is also a magnet for maidens and bachelors who are looking for partners.

Biak-na-Bato National Park
Visit the Biak-na-Bato National Park in San Miguel to enjoy a twin feeling of historical and ecological experience. Declared a protected area by President Manuel L. Quezon in 1937, Biak-na-Bato was the site of the proclamation of the first Philippine Republic. It is also known for its wonderful scenery such as the Aguinaldo, Cuarto-Cuarto, and Bahay Paniki caves. Biak-na-Bato is likewise popular among trekking and birding enthusiasts.

Aside from the above-mentioned scenic spots, Bulacan is also renowned for its historical, religious, cultural, and natural attractions such as the Marcelo H. del Pilar Shrine, the Battle of Quinga Monument, St. Martin of Tours Church, Plaridel Church, and the Pulilan Carabao Festival. With these breathtaking visual treats, Bulacan is truly a perfect vacation getaway.

Outrigger Canoe

History

The traditional ppao of Tonga.

Hawaiiloa, a double hull sailing canoe built as a replica of Polynesian voyaging canoes.

Outrigger canoes were originally developed by the Austronesian speaking peoples of the islands of Southeast Asia for sea travel, and were used to transport these peoples both eastward to Polynesia and New Zealand and westward across the Indian Ocean as far as Madagascar during the Austronesian migration period. Even today, it is mostly among the Austronesian groups (Malay, Micronesian, Melanesian and Polynesian peoples) that outrigger canoes are used.

Outrigger fishing canoes are also used among certain non-Austronesian groups, like the Sinhala in Sri Lanka, where they are known as oruwa, as well as among some people groups in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The ethnological significance of this spread has been studied by James Hornell.

When Magellan's ships first encountered the Chamorros of the Mariana Islands in 1521, Antonio Pigafetta recorded that the Chamorros' sailboats far surpassed Magellan's in speed and maneuverability.

The Polynesian Voyaging Society has two double hull sailing canoes, Hklea and Hawaiiloa, and sails them between various islands in the Pacific using traditional Polynesian navigation methods without instruments.

The technology has persisted into the modern age. Outrigger canoes can be quite large fishing or transport vessels, and in the Philippines, outrigger canoes (called bangka, parao or balanghai) are often fitted with petrol engines. The links between seafaring and outrigger canoes in the Philippines extend through to political life, in which the smallest political unit in the country still called Barangay after the historical Balangai outrigger proas used in the original migrations of the first Austronesian peoples across the archipelago and beyond.

Modern sport use

Outrigger canoe racing has become a popular canoeing sport, with numerous clubs located around the world. Outrigger Canoe Racing is the State sport of Hawaii and an interscholastic high school sport. In Hawaii entire families participate in summer regattas with age groups from manini (children as young as 6 with an adult steersperson) and age 12 through age 60+.

Major races in Hawai'i include the Molokai Hoe (43 mi/69 km men's race from the island of Molokai to Oahu across the Kaiwi Channel), Na Wahine O Ke Kai (same race for women) and the Queen Liliuokalani Race held near Kona on the Island of Hawaii.

Racing outrigger canoes. The canoe in the front right, with a narrower hull and smaller body, is a single person outrigger canoe, or OC1. The other canoes are six person outrigger canoes, or OC6.

Six person outrigger canoes (or OC6) are among the most common used for sport use; single person outrigger canoes (or OC1) are also very common. Two and four person outrigger canoes are also sometimes used, and two six person outrigger canoes are sometimes rigged together like a catamaran to form a twelve person double canoe.

Modern OC6 hulls and amas are commonly made from glass-reinforced plastic. However, some canoes are made of more traditional materials. In Ancient Hawaii, canoes were carved from the trunks of very old koa trees. These canoes, although rare, are still very much in use today. The iako are usually made of wood; the iako-ama and iako-hull connections are typically done with rope wrapped and tied in interlocking fashion to reduce the risk of the connection coming completely apart if the rope breaks.

Modern OC1 hulls and amas are commonly made from glass-reinforced plastic, carbon fiber reinforced plastic, and/or Kevlar to produce a strong but light canoe. OC1 are often made with rudders operated by foot pedals. More traditional designs do not have rudders. OC1 commonly use iako made of aluminium, with a mechanism for quickly assembling and disassembling the canoe (snap buttons, large wing nuts, etc.).

Holidays In The Philippines

Why To Spend Your Holidays in The Philippines

The Philippines is defined as Asia's pearl of the orient. The history of the Philippines is filled with culture, century old churches, ancient forts and modern museums. Philippines offer the best of nature with white sandy beaches, forests and modern resort facilities. The country has an extensive coastline and is surrounded by beautiful beaches. Philippines are blessed with a moderate climate making it an ideal sun holiday destination.

The Philippines is filled with tourist spots and locations and is considered one of the best places for a summer vacation. The following are some of the important places for visiting in the country Philippines. Pagsanjan is considered as the most important and popular tourist spot in this country. This place is filled with a series of fourteen rapid mini waterfalls on the way to the main falls.

Pagsanjan is a small Laguna town and the terrain towards the main falls provides enjoyment. The river valleys are covered with cliffs and lashed with vegetation offers a great site. Riding on a rented raft under the falls provides a great cheer of enjoyment to the tourists.

The second important place for touring Philippines is the Hidden valley springs. Hidden valley springs are considered as the familiar resort situated in Alaminos in Laguna. The valley is located at the foot of mountain Makilin and the mountain is termed as the mystical mountain of myths. The mountains are filled with number of hot springs, huge fruit trees, tropical shrubs and flowering plants. It has big cottages for holidaying and it acts as an ideal base for visiting the towns of Laguna and Quezon.

The third important spot in Philippines is Laguna. Laguna has beautiful sceneries. Laguna province is termed as the largest in the country. The towns of Calamba and Los Barios are surrounded with swimming pools and resorts. Many of the tourists visit this place for spending their summer vacations. The famous ancestral house of National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal is situated here and the house has now been converted into a museum. The volcanic mountain Makiling stands as barrier for the town.

The next important location is the Siargao Island. This island is newly discovered and has lots of white sandy beaches and surfing waves. This place is situated 800 kilometers from Manila. The Siargao Island is considered as a mass of tropical land with scores of reefs, points and white beaches. It has provided as a surfing Mecca in the discovery during 1993 by the American photographer John Callahan who investigated the rumors of spectacular waves. Sun bathing on the white sandy beaches and swimming in the crystal clear water is a great way to relax.

The next holiday spot is Tagaytay. Tagaytay has an altitude of 2,250 feet from the sea level and this city enjoys a cold climate all year round. Tagaytay is considered the best spot for the Picnic Grove and gives a clear view of the Taal Volcano. This volcano stands at a height of 406 meters from the lake and is considered the smallest volcano in the world. This tourist spot is considered as the sister city for Las Vegas and Nevada.

Which resort is better for Boracay Island, Philippines: LaGuna De Boracay Resort or Pearl of the Pacific?

I am interested in both of these resorts. I am wondering which one is in a better location (the pros and cons of the locations). If anyone has had any good or bad experience with either of them I'd love to hear about it. Any advice would be a great help. I am planning my trip for January.

Pearl of the Pacific is better. Be sure to make reservation right now. By the way, is this your first time to come here in the Philippines? There are lots of other scenic spots here. Also try the Pearl Farm in Davao and Banaue Rice Terraces. You will surely love these places as well as the Hundred Islands.
Hope you will enjoy your trip here. Have a nice day and GOD BLESS.

Do Filipino National and Saudi National both need tourist visas for travelling to Hongkong, China, Japan? ?

Any information about Hadsan Cove Beach resort in cebu?

I would just like to ask where specifically the Hadsan Cove beach resort located in Cebu? How far it is from Mactan international airport? Is there any nearby hotel to stay overnight with? how much is the cost? Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance

HADSAN COVE is an unpretentious resort located at Mactan Island, which is a small known for its white beaches and dive tours beside Cebu, Philippines. It provides its guests with a natural setting of Philippine scenery. Its ambiance though nothing extravagant, gives quaint version of simplicity at its best.

Houseguests can enjoy the sea by strolling and swimming at its natural cove white sand beach. Sunning oneself is also a favorite past time among its American and European patrons. However for those who want to enjoy the beauty of the seas, scuba diving is highly recommended. The resort has two dive shops, which offer diving lessons and dive tours for a reasonable fee. In fact, everything in the resort is within budget. An average room for two costs US$ 28.00 while a hearty meal for two would only cost US$ 15.00. For nature lovers, within the resort grounds are rich foliage where one can observe wild birds like, kingfishers or quails.

Though it may not compete with the other resorts in terms of facilities, HADSAN COVE can claim its hospitality and its natural simplistic beauty as its best asset.

Selecting the Best Resorts: What You Need is What You Get

Selecting the world best resort is no different to that of the selecting the best luxury hotels. This denotes that both are highly troublesome endeavors which travelers would like to avoid as much as possible.

The Power of Information

In the process of selecting the best resort it is highly imperative that you have sufficient information of the resorts you wish to visit. Thus, as been pointed out one needs to collect all the information you could possibly have about resorts. Next, you need to validate whether such information provided of the best resorts are indeed true. Examining whether information about the best resorts is valid or falsified can be done through careful examination of the descriptions provided. You can verify whether a particular resort is along the line of the world’s best hotels by browsing through blogs and review. Travelers nowadays, are much adept in sharing their experiences and pictures to the public. Thus it won’t be difficult to get a glimpse of the resort.

Budget and Amenities

There are certain guidelines that could be helpful in choosing the world best resort. I think that the most important consideration in choosing the best resorts, or world’s best hotels for that matter, is your budget. How much money have you allocated for your accommodation? The budget determines which hotel and resort you will stay in, whether it’s economy rates/service or one of the best luxury hotels. One can’t stay in super luxurious places unless you have sufficient financial capacity to pay high fees. Remember too that all amenities in the resort or hotel have a price, so it’s but futile to expect that you will only pay for the room rates. Another important factor in selecting the best hotel is your itinerary or agenda. Your agenda basically identifies the things you would like to do or accomplish in your vacation. There are wide selection of best resorts tailored for romantic getaways and honeymoons, outdoor get-togethers and skiing adventures.

Articles, Reviews, and Publications

For you to make better decisions on how to select the best resort, we highly recommend browsing through resort critics and travel guide magazines like Travel Intelligence, I-escape, and Hotel Guru. Be wary of fancy words and write ups that don’t really tell anything about the accommodation arrangement. Always look for information about the amenities, room size, transportation packages and location.  You can always email or call the resort if you have any inquiries on their services and accommodation.  There is nothing wrong with being well-informed of what you could expect in your travels. Make your travels as stress free as possible. Plan your travels effectively so as to better enjoy it.

Management of the Facility

Another helpful strategy in selecting best resorts is to read about the management of the business. It has been observed that chain hotels are more preferred by travelers for they are assured of the amenities and service provided. Read about the other Hyatt hotels to get a glimpse of the Hyatt hotels in Shanghai; or examine the facilities in Crowned Plaza Manila to determine the facilities in Crowned Plaza Singapore. Finally, an important tip is to really take time, sit down and plan your trip so as to make it very enjoyable.

Contact Center Outsourcing Stages Comeback

Contact center outsourcing  is expected to make a comeback.  With the global financial crisis concluded and countries continue their recovery, outsourcing destinations such as the Philippines, Australia and Chile, are expecting a better outlook for offshore contact center services this year and the next.

According to the Contact Center Association of the Philippines or CCAP on the 28th of September, they are expecting the contact center industry to generate revenues of up to $6.15 billion this year with growth rates to remain within the 20% range in the next 10 years.  CCAP president Benedict Hernandez estimated that growth this year should be around 23% due to increasing demand.  "Voice is still growing and it will continue to grow over the next 10 years," he said.  Last year, contact center seats numbered at 280,000, with call center outsourcing services accounting for two-thirds of the outsourcing business in the country.  The Philippines comes second only to India in providing call center outsourcing services, generating almost $5 billion in revenues for 2009.  Companies such as call center outsourcing company Aegis PeopleSupport, inContact (NASDAQ:SAAS), and Accenture (NYSE:ACN) have already announced plans to expand in the country.

Meanwhile, the results of an annual survey conducted by Callcentres.net and RightNow which were released last September stated that the Australian contact center industry has increased by 13 percent as compared to 2009 with total revenues amounting to $55 billion.  The number of contact center seats also increased by 3%.  Dr. Catriona Wallace, Managing Director of Callcentres.net, commented, "The industry has well and truly shaken off the effects of the GFC and is back in growth-mode. Revenues, seats and employment are all up and we anticipate that this will continue through to 2011, when the total size of the industry as measured by seats is expected to grow by another 5 percent. Demand is not going to go away, particularly given the move towards multi-channel integration."

Chile, on the other hand, is also expected to see a growth of 5-6% in the contact center industry, according to IDC Latin America on the 24th of September.  Revenues are expected to come in at $17 million, up from $16 million in 2009.

The numbers exhibited and projected by these countries are substantial and positive indicating that call center outsourcing will only grow even more. But while growth in offshore contact center outsourcing services is increasing, the trend towards hiring home-based contact center agents is also gaining popularity.

Provider of contact center services, Alpine Access announced on the 22nd of September that they are currently undergoing expansions in North Dakota in the US, and hiring home-based customer care professionals in the state.  The company stated that they are seeking to fill more than 3,000 at-home agent positions until early next year.  Fellow call center outsourcing company, Convergys (NYSE:CVG), also announced that they are looking to fill home-based call center positions most recently in the state of Utah, where they are looking for 60 agents.  This trend is only expected to continue especially due to the approaching holiday season.  According to CEO of Challenger, Gray and Christmas, John Challenger, "Large companies today are putting in customer service agents in their home, to help customers with their orders, returns, so this is a new type of job, a new way to work."

While at this point it is unlikely that companies will move a sizeable amount of their call center operations nearshore instead of offshore, the search for quality and inexpensive voice services may push the trend towards nearshore in the future.  In the meantime, outsourcing destinations can look forward to increased demand for voice services.

Liveaboards

The word ‘liveaboard' is given to boat diving where you embark for a week or more and live and dive from the boat. Commonly you will dive 3 dives a day, plus a night dive on some days meaning you could complete 18 to 20 scuba dives in a week. They are generally a ‘no shoes' week.

 Things to consider

There are a number of factors to consider before booking a trip:

  1. Diving experience. Often the boats will go to dives sites only accessible by boat and these can be the sites with faster currents, are deeper or involve diving from a Gemini into the blue and descend and ascend with no visual reference. Most liveaboard booking companies ask that divers have completed a minimum of 50 dives before embarking on a liveaboard trip.

  2. Seasickness. You will be in the open sea and once out of site of land it is not unusual for there to be bigger waves and at least a swaying motion. If you get seasick easily you should consider this and seek medical advice before booking.

  3. Close proximity to others. It can be great if you go with your dive club or a group or even with your partner but you should bear in mind that whilst there is usually sufficient space onboard for a quiet time you are on a small boat with around 20 other people and the crew for a week.

  4. Equipment. If you don't have all your own equipment you need to hire it in advance and ensure all equipment works before you travel. You may wish to consider taking common spares e.g. spare mask, fin strap, tank insert as in general the boats don't carry the gear that would be available at a dive resort.

 Choices

These days liveaboard trips are available at most coral reef areas.  The most popular with Brits being the Red Sea Liveaboards which embark in Sharm, Hurghada and Port Ghalib.

If you want to venture elsewhere try scuba diving liveaboards in The Maldives, Borneo, Galapagos, Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Oman or Australia.

 The experience

What should you expect on a week's liveaboard? Dive, dive, dive! Yes that's right most divers go to dive as much as possible often starting with a wakeup call at 7 a.m. or earlier!  Diving at or before 8.

The daily routine can often look like a wakeup call at 7 or earlier, dive before breakfast at 8 a.m.; then breakfast, sleep then dive at 11:00. Lunch follows with a third dive at 3 – 4 p.m. and depending on the dive site, weather and where the boat will be overnight, a night dive at 7 p.m. with dinner at 9.

However you don't have to do every dive, it is your call. Liveaboard trips tend to be all inclusive and the only extras you may have to pay for are nitrox, alcohol and the hire of a torch.

The dive sites, as they are mostly out at sea, although on submerged coral reefs or wrecks have a lush deep blue background and a colourful array of marine life and coral. As you are out at sea in deeper water you can access the more likely places to see the larger pelagics and sightings of sharks, manta rays and dolphins are quite common.

The après diving, as far as it goes (meaning we're diving the next morning at 8 and lots of party party doesn't tend to mix well with lots of diving and you are on the boat, there is no going ashore to the local bar and club) can be great fun and if with a dive club the obligatory banter. It can also be a great week to meet new addicted to diving fellow divers.

Most divers return from a liveaboard trip very excited, happy and eager to book their next trip.
