Anyone been to Boracay recently? Were the beaches Clean?
I am arriving in the Philippines Dec 16 and having some difficulty making up my mind where to go with my fiance for a 7 day romantic, relaxing beach vacation before heading to Olongapo to see family. I keep reading that Boracay is no longer that nice, and that it's beaches are dirty and overcrowded with tourists, is this true?
I was leaning more towards Bohol but I'm still not sure. My budget is about $100 a night so Palawan is out of reach for me. Malapascua seems very affordable and quoted to be the "new Boracay" but it is a long journey to get there. And I am coming off of 26 hours travel time to get to Manila from Florida, but staying one night in Manila to recover. Any reccomendations where to stay and which resort to stay in would be greatly appreciated...
This is my opinion so take it for what its worth to you. Boracay was very disapointing.. Way too many tourists and parties. Now if that's what you like then fine go there, but as far as the beach being clean, yes it is still clean considering the amount of people, however a clean beach to me is pointless when it's so crowded and noisey. If it weren't for the recent oil spill, I would recommend the valencia area of guimaras island instead.. but maybe you're better off going to bohol in cebu.. they have some of the nicest beaches and less crowded.. or palawan.. thats another amazing place that isn't too crowded.
