is it too late for me and ballet?
i am 15 and i have only taken ballet lessons in the internet and i attended a ballet class for beginers and i learned the basic terms and how to do them. i love ballet so much but i dont think i can ba good enough because of my age.my teacher was also a ballerina but she didn't reach the ballet pointe but she is really good. i only live in the province here in the philippines and there are only limited ballet schools here. what are some ways where i can still learn ballet aside from surfing the net? are there books about stretching and ballet? do you know a website where i can learn and understand ballet easilly aside from youtube? please help. i really want to become a great dancer. thank you so much
Its never too late to dance. Never.
But the reality of you joining a professional company is slim.
Definitely take classes for fun! Its a great way to stay in shape and learn more about your body.
There are lots of books out about ballet. When you learn ballet from a book make sure that it is a very classical book so you dont get mixed contemporary style into there.
Since you are already 15 your bones are very solid at this point unless you havent had your period. Ballet dancers (interestingly enough) mold their bones when they are soft in order to have better turn out, better pointed feet, etc. The awareness of this comes when a dancer is about 10. And by 14 or 15 theres no more they can do.
But who says you have to have an amazing point to be a great dancer?
There are so many opportunities in dance for late starters.
I hope you get to watch So You Think You Can Dance. Because there are so many talented people on that show who started when they were 16 or 17 and they are amazing. They arent ballet dancers of course but they found a style that fits them and they are extremely successful.
Hope I helped :)
