i thought filipinos were latinos?
during the summer me and my family went to the philippines because my parents heard it was a good diving spot. i didnt know much about the philippines other than it used to be a spanish colony, so i assumed that the people in the philippines were all hispanic. but when we got there, everyone there was asian. when did this happen?
Of course everyone there is Asian, it's in Asia (shouldn't you know that since you flew there?).
Latinos - people from Latin America. According to the US' racial identification.
Yes Philippines is part of the Latin Union, and was a former colony of Spain but the criteria is different in US and is not based on who is in the Latin Union.
I suggest you do some research rather than assuming or listening to a deluded Fil-Am and believing him/her that Filipinos are Latinos.
@Halle - Ummmm. LOL. Filipinos back then were Spaniards born and raised in the Philippine Islands, or Peninsulares. The native ones are called not Filipino but Indios. And the name Filipino? That's Spanish/Hispanic.
This part's sort of correct though "...it's in Asia,so expect to see filipino as asian looking people..."
The only part that's wrong is...what is the 'Asian look?'. There's no such thing; no such thing as an Asian race. The largest continent in Earth, you expect everyone there to be related in terms of race?
And to the asker - After reading this a second time, it seems like a weird question. Is it even a question? Or did you just put this up to prove something like "Filipinos don't look Latino they are Asian"...but that's just my assumption, it could be that you are just so dumb, that even after flying about 12 to 16 hours (w/c is pretty long to think that it's in Latin America) you still thought it's located in somewhere in South America, and even after seeing the flight attendants/passengers (If you guys used PAL) you still thought Filipinos were Latinos?!
