Getting around Manila: The Light Rail

No matter which of the different cheap Manila hotels you use while staying in the city, the options for public transportation are fairly vast, but the most up-to-date version is the Manila light rail transit system, commonly referred to simply as the LRT. It is the easiest way to get from your cheap Manila hotel to any destination in the city. While it is technically referred to as a light rail system because it uses light rail vehicles, in many ways it functions much like a rapid transit system, with an extremely high passenger throughput on a daily basis. In fact, if you are on your way back to your cheap Manila hotel during rush hour you are likely to be crammed in like a sardine. Thankfully, the light rail is extremely cheap to use and it is also extremely efficient, moving people to and from various destinations throughout the city, ranging from cheap Manila hotels to apartments, restaurants and otherwise.

The light rail system in Manila operates 30 different lines along a 19 mile stretch of track, with two distinct lines. The Yellow Line travels along the north and south route, while the Purple Line runs east and west across the city. While the original LRT line was built as a no-frills type of public transportation with very little in the way of comfort, these days there are additional seats and barrier-free access to ferry people back and forth from their cheap Manila hotels to destinations throughout the city in reasonable comfort.
