Manila Philippine Hotels

Did that "Trillanes coup" mess made staying at the Peninsula Manila a corny thing or exactly the opposite?

I've read some articles at Tripadvisor.com about the Peninsula Manila written by previous patrons of the hotel. They almost all state that the mess that happened in November (with that laughably executed "coup d'etat") will make them wanna check-in across the street at the Shangri-La Makati. They say that that the coup d'farce that happened there made the Peninsula name seem so synonymous to incompetence, lack of safety and that good ol' Filipino style of getting things done (or undone).

So my question is... SHOULD that incident hurt the Peninsula Manila name? Do you associate that hotel to any of the mentioned things above?

Makes me pissed really, how people can be so ignorant of the truth behind what REALLY happened during the siege. And the fact that I truly believe that there is no better hotel in the Philippines.

i think trillanes and group choose the hotel bc it is a luxury hotel the government would be afraid to scratch.Unexpectedly, the administration did not gave way for that tactic nor with the news team serving as human shields or hostages for the coup plotters to have an extension of the delay till nov 30 where mass of anti gloria mass protesters would surely group in thereby gaining them strength.
for me, given the notice to vacate the hotel to the news team and ignoring it is tantamount to treason. "If you're not with us, you're with them!!!"Given the situation if the incident was with muslim separatist or terrorist, would this news team stay with the terrorist? None in the history of philippine news i am aware had ever been recorded unless they were themselves made hostages.
