I am wanting to travel with my husband to the Philippines in later November -early December of this year. I have looked at some of the resorts but they seem very touristy and alot of the photos are kinda not what we are looking for. We stayed at a hotel when we lived in the Philippines a few years ago and we were kinda the odd couple out and felt really uncomfortable :(

the Zambales coast seems to be what you are looking for. look at the area just north of Olongapo. the resorts are more family orientated some have small cottages. using the northern Luzon expressway (NLEX) and the Subic- Clark -Tarlac expressway (SCTex) the area is less than 3 hours from Manila.
