We are going to Cancun Mexico in February and don't want to stand out like a sore thumb. I want to look my age (40), but don't want to look like a tourist. I would like input on beach and pool wear along with popular casual wear for around the resort. I guess a mild "hip" look is what I am looking for. I usually wear a baseball cap also. Is there any popular head gear that men are wearing now days? Thanks
Hola: Most resort areas in Mexico are quite 'casual'. Footwear: go with tennis, sneakers or sandals (socks only with trousers). You can buy 'huaraches' (mexican sandals) that are nice, comfortable and fashionable. Waist down: Comfortable shorts/bermudas are OK; stay away from flowery/colorful designs to avoid a 'tourist look'. Trousers can be used at night or if climate is fresh for you. Waist up: T-shirts, polo shirts, etc. keep short sleeve. If in Cancun get a 'guayabera'. A jacket will not be required most of the time only the most exclusive restaurants will ask for one. A tie is even more rare. Head ware: Straw hats are found everywhere, some with nice designs. BB cap os OK but a little touristy.

My mom and I are going to go to Myrtle Beach this week as a kind of last minute trip. I think we will be driving(from Ohio) and then staying at a hotel. My dad has a lot of points saved up from Hampton inn/embassy suites/doubletree etc.. and we need to figure out what hotel to stay at. I would like to be fairly close to the beach, possibly walking distance, but we can't afford the very expensive resorts found right on the beach. So has anyone ever stayed in one of the above hotels at Myrtle Beach or what would you recommend? Thanks in advance.

With this experience I give the following advice. 1)When making reservations or buying tickets ask for any discounts or deals. Many of these will be unadvertised and change regularly. 2)Always let the ticket seller know if you are active or retired military, a senior citizen, a local resident, a AAA member, a teacher, etc. 3)If you plan to do an activity multiple times ask about a season pass. For ex: several of the area miniature golf courses are owned by the same company. If you play 10 rounds on these courses over your stay a season pass will save you $3.00 per round. 4)Residents can get a state park vehicle pass at the local library for $30.00. This is good for one year from the purchase date for unlimited entry to all of the South Carolina State Parks. 5)There are 4 different coupon books for attractions throughout the area. These are available at the tourist info centers and free stands outside many area stores.

Now we're hoping to find out if there's any world tour?
It is a local production. The producer just assembled parts of great acts and made them into one coherent show. Who knows, they might offer the show somewhere.

The reason I ask is because, when I would search for the "best" hotel rates in Vegas, I get different price quotes based on the amount of "adults" and "children" I enter. Is that legal?
Worked in hotels for years and yes it is legal. The hotel can charge a per a person charge as long as the rate stays under their highest posted rate (the one on the back of the door in the rooms). The reason they charge the rate is because if they offer breakfast they are charging for that, they take into account that there is another person in the room using water/power/ice machines/ extra supplies ect...They also figure housekeeping for the guest somewhere out in here. I do know however that if you book with the hotel directly they will waver the fee, I hardly ever charged the extra person rate. If you are not going to be eating breakfast then just book the room for one person, we never changed the price even if there was 2 people checking in, just be prepared that some people not be so nice and might charge you the extra ammount. In general since it is summer your best rates are going to be found Sun.-Thurs. Check with the hotel directly they change their prices daily depending on how reservations are going for that time period. Good luck I hope this helps you!
