tourism philippines_3"tourism philippines" why is or what makes cebu the top tourism destination of the philippines today?
Cebu has more visitors than Boracay, Davao (Cebu Daily News)
Cebu has become the country’s top tourist destination based on tourist arrivals, according to the Department of Tourism (DOT).
There are more things to do in Cebu than either Boracay or Davao. Cebu has beautiful beaches and beach resorts on Mactan Island. Cebu is a good sized city with many restaurants and stores and there is very good night life with many bars and clubs. Also you can explore the nearby mountains, the Taoist Temple and some historical churches.
Boracay is a very beautiful place but once you get tired of the beach and water activities there is nothing else to do. The weather in Boracay is bad from June until October with too much wind and rain. Davao is just a big city and has a reputation for being dangerous.
Real estate as an investment option is still a very much valid option despite the real estate mortgage troubles suffered by United States a few years back and can still be felt to this day. These troubles were sparked not by real estate players themselves but rather from the mismanagement of funds by financial companies. For countries in developing and emerging economies where there is still very much room for real estate growth particularly in condominiums it is still an attractive buy. This article looks at some options when one wants to invest in a Cebu condo Philippines.
Cebu is the second largest city of the Philippines that is blessed with a strategic location in the archipelago of 7,000 islands. Located some five hundred kilometres south of the capital city of Manila, it has been dubbed as the Queen City of the South. In fact in the past decade on a year per year basis, it has overtaken Manila in terms of Gross Domestic Product growth.
The city of Cebu is the capital of the Visayas region and is located on the island which is also named Cebu, or Sugbu to the locals. Its sound management of economic growth has brought forth a growth in business processing outsourcing activities, where major world players have located some of their Asian operations. Top earners for the city are call center operations, electronics and tourism.
The growth experience by the city has seen land and real estate prices rise ten to twenty fold in value from the past ten years. This of course has been enjoyed by the locals who have experienced an increased standard of living second to that only of the capital Manila. Apart from the rise in construction projects of office buildings, there has also been an increase in condominium projects in the past few years.
There are currently 19 condominium projects under way in the city, with four having reached completion. Three of these completed in the city proper of Cebu city itself, and the fourth located in the resort island of Mactan, which is a forty five minute drive away. The rest of the condominium projects are scheduled to be finished at the end of 2010 to mid 2013.
Obviously as there is still a lot of these projects now undergoing construction and completion there is a lot of pre-selling going on. And the target of these pre selling are of course the wealthy local businessmen and also foreign investors and clients who may have an eye on the city as a future place of residence.
It should be noted though that Philippine law prohibits foreign nationals from owning real estate, but when it comes to condominiums they can have up to one hundred percent ownership. The only way that a foreigner may own land in the Philippines is if he or she had a Philippine national spouse, thus he or she can own the land indirectly. But with condominiums there is no strict requirement for foreign ownership as there is really no land ownership per se except for unit ownership.
Affordable Cosmetic Plastic Surgery in the Philippines: Medical Tourism
Cosmetic surgery tourism is a price driven phenomenon that has grown by leaps and bounds over the last few decades. Popular destinations for cosmetic surgery tourism include Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Poland, South Africa, and Thailand. What does the Philippines have to offer over other popular cosmetic surgery hotspots?
The primary advantage of having surgery done in the Philippines is the cost. Because of the present exchange rate (1 USD: 41 Pesos as of April 2008), the cost of plastic surgery in the Philippines is only a fraction of the cost in other countries particularly the United States and Europe. On the average, a typical breast augmentation will cost around 7000-8000 USD in the United States. In the Philippines, this will cost around 3000-4000 USD at the present market rate.
Although cost is a primary consideration, it should not be the only factor to determine one’s choice of surgeon. Wherever you are in the world, choosing the right plastic surgeon is the most important decision you will have to make. In the Philippines, there are a number of fully trained and highly skilled Plastic Surgeons who underwent formal training in plastic and reconstructive surgery. The Philippine Association of Plastic Recontructive and Aesthetic Surgeons, Inc (PAPRAS) is the only organization that accepts fellowship training for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. After training, they undergo certification by the Philippine Board of Plastic Surgery (PBPS) which is the only organization tasked by the Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS) to grant board certification in the field of Plastic Surgery.
State-of-the-art technology and professional medical expertise are offered by most Philippine hospitals and out-patient surgery centers. Patients can be assured of first class healthcare comparable to world class standards. Be sure to ask if the center is accredited by the Department of Health.
Filipinos are known to be cheerful, caring, and compassionate. They are warm and very hospitable. Nursing care provided by Filipinos in Britain is legendary as is in the United States. This holds the same for doctors. Their unique characteristics makes them excel in the healthcare industry.
The language barrier can be very frustrating especially for patients. Imagine trying to convey something to your surgeon and all he does is nod or shake his head. Most Filipinos are fluent in English. This is an important advantage in healthcare professions. Communication between patient and surgeon is of utmost importance during initial consultation as well as the post-operative period. It helps make the surgical experience a more “pleasurable” one.
Surgery in the Philippines offers distinct advantages to potential patients of cosmetic surgery. Low costs, highly qualified plastic surgeons, and world class facilities makes the Philippines a potential site in the cosmetic tourism industry.
