Hello, I've searched the net about this but I'm kinda confuse since some posted that there is no need to, then no need to if it's less than 59 days then some say it is needed. .If it is then, since the Korean embassy is not in our place, is it okay if I do not need an appearance for the VISA application only our travel agent would arrange it.. would that be okay or not?
Philippine passport holders NEED VISA to enter South Korea. Some countries like US (citizens) don't need to apply for a visa prior to entering Korea, they will be just allowed to enter for visit or tour.
Personal appearance is not required to apply for a visa.
Once you have all your documents, the visa process itself takes only 1 week.

You don't have to do anything but her. She has to apply a tourist on her own at British embassy to be able to come and visit you and that it depends if she'll get approve. If not, then you will be the one to give her a visit in the Island.
considering a 3-4 day trip to northern Palawan(I like the idea of Coron). i want to spend around $120 USD per day for myself; would that be enough money to enjoy myself or should i rethink this? i want to bring my 3 cousins with me also, but won't be paying for them.

It depends what site you're on. Some sites (especially the official sites of resorts) have rates per person per night. Some travel sites like agoda etc, require you to provide info such as number of pax, rooms etc. Whatever rate comes up will be based on that. It's usually specified anyway.
I like Northern Palawan too. There's El Nido, Coron or Busuanga. There are all-inclusive resorts such as El Nido Lagen, El Nido Miniloc, Club Paradise, El Rio Y Mar, etc. You can research on rates online. The average is 150-200 usd per person per night, inclusive of everything (except drinks). All you need to pay for is airfare. It covers accommodations, full board meals, use of facilities, taxes, etc. You might also want to consider Dos Palmas and Apulit Island Resort. They don't have limestone cliffs and lagoons though.

There are no flights from Cebu to Australia. She will have to travel on Philippine Airlines if she wants the convenience of checking in her luggage tagged to Australia as her destination. That means she will be advised from the domestic arrival area to proceed directly to the international departure area.
She can also fly Qantas from manila, but then she will have to book a separate flight from Cebu to Manila, and manage the transfers on her own. If she hasn't traveled before, she might find it inconvenient to move from the domestic terminal to Terminal 1 where Qantas takes off.
Any travel agency can arrange her ticket. Or she can go directly to the Philippine Airlines office.
I did a lecture on Altitude Diving last night and it made me thing about putting a "Tip Sheet" together. Following is a list of tips to remember when Altitude Diving.
1. Any dive between 1000 feet and 10,000 feet is an Altitude Dive
2. There is relatively little test data for altitude diving, flying after diving or driving to altitude after diving.
3. At sea level, the diver is surrounded by one atmosphere of pressure. At 10,000 feet, the pressure is .714 atmospheres (a 30% decrease in pressure). This is the same pressure change as 10 feet of seawater, which we know makes a big difference in our no-decompression limits. As we'll see, this must be accounted for when using the RDP or any other dive table or dive computer.
4. Besides decompression sickness, there are heightened concerns for Hypoxia and Hypothermia when divng at Altitude.
5. Unless the actual depth is converted to a theoretical depth for table use and special procedures are followed, at altitude the pressure ratio can exceed the maximum limit intended by the table or dive computer, increasing the possibility of decompression sickness.
6. There are several equipment considerations when diving at altitude: (1) Air, trapped inside the cells of a wetsuit, expands at altitude, possibly making you more buoyant. Do a buoyancy check. (2) Different Gauges act differently at altitude, check with your gauge manufacturer and know what kind of gauge you have and how altitude effects it. (3) Computers either automatically adjust for altitude, need to be manually adjusted for altitude or have no adjustment for altitude. Know your computer!
7. When using an RDP or Table to plan your dive, consult the Theoretical Depth Conversion chart first and plan your dive using your theoretical depth, not your actual depth. Adjust your safety stop accordingly.
8. Ascend from depth on an altitude dive at a rate not to exceed 30 feet per minute. Safety stops are mandatory on all dives.
9. Make no more than two dives per day when diving altitude.
10. When arriving at altitude, wait 6 hours for your body to acclimitize or adjust your dive profiles to account for the residual nitrogen in your system as a result of the increase in altitude. When diving above 8000 feet, always wait 6 hours.
11. When using charts and tables, always round conservatively - whether it be up or down.
12. Consult your certification agency or Divers Alert Network for recommendations on altitude or flying after diving. It is generally recommended not to increase your altitude more than 2000 feet for a period of 24 hours after diving.
13. Do not make repetitive dives at different altitudes. Always wait a minimum of 6 hours when diving between altitudes.
14. If you are diving at altitude, seek proper training and get certified. Tip sheets and articles found on the Internet are no substitute for training. Dive within your training limits.

Done some of the other major sites in Philippines; now looking at Palawan - but it's so big! Where to go? We'll have a 9 month old baby with us so I want somewhere that is child-friendly, not too far from an airport, close to decent medical facilities, nice beaches, diving - and the stunning cliff pictures I've seen on the Magic Sing. Needs to be under Php2,500 per night per person (accommodation only) and near a town so we can go and choose restaurants/bars/etc. West coast would be better for romantic sunsets! Beach front would be nice. Air con and reasonably nice - I'd rather pay a little bit more for a little luxury.
Oh, and close to any other tourist spots like the underground river I've heard of.

there are "2 areas" to go to in Palawan.
The first and the obvious is via Puerto Princessa. This you can access via PAL or Super Ferry.From Puero Princessa, you can already go to numerous places: crocodile farm, the st. paul underground river, island hopping at honda bay, the former vietnames refugee camp, then southward is a totally different trip like visiting the tabon caves, etc...
The other area has to be accessed differently bec. it is at the northernmost tip of palawan, the Calamian Group of Islands. (check out a Philippine map--it's quite distant from Puerto Princessa)
This is cheapest to access via SuperFerry (leaves Manila pier Friday afternoon, you get there Saturday about 7am).We had a grand weekend (2days) coming home Monday afternoon, I think this is cheapest from manila. Same ship will sail to Puerto Princessa and it takes another 8hours or so.Come Sunday afternoon, this same ship sails back to Manila...
In the Calamianes, probably due to the geography of the group of islands, there's a weather phenomenon, some sort of a "squall" (quick rainpour then stop, leaving a quiet mist-filled surrounding). We experienced this and it was amazing.
In Busuanga, CORAL BAY RESORT is excellent (ask for the resorts owned by the Mata Family) Limestone caves, pristine beaches, superb dive sites. The cleanest lake is in Calamian. There is also a hotspring right in the middle of the water between the limestone cliffs. And another one tha't like a swimming pool in a shore somewhere. This area is "not accessible" from Puerto P. in the sense that it is quite distant w/ mountains and rough roads and it is an altogether different area.
In Popototan Island, the farthest westward is where Coral Bay Resort is. The waters in the Calamianes are calm. just calm. excellent to island hop and even do watersports.Good luck!

I live in the Philippines and I can tell you that the hotels here are just about the same as everywhere else in the world. All cities have low end places that cater to locals that may be traveling between the provinces. The bigger cities usually have luxury places similar to say Holiday Inn that cater to foreigners and wealthy Filipinos. The resort areas like Boracay have luxury resorts that would compare to any where like Hawaii, Cancun etc. The hotel industry has developed over time the same way as in America. Years ago there were lots of small basic places and over the years that has developed into a very sophisticated industry.
One thing that we do not have here is time share.
Im going to visit the Philippines this the last week of December and would love to visit unique places to go that is nature related. I will be in the Philippines for 3 weeks and would love to see the best spots that 'locals' go to. I don't want to go to Boracay or any other over-populated beaches. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has recently launched their online appointment system website which is a do-it-yourself site where you can set an appointment for the renewal or application of your Philippine passport.
In the past years, Filipinos have been accustomed to processing their passport renewals and applications through travel agencies and other third-party companies who are authorized by the DFA. These companies and agencies profit by charging a processing fee. It was working like a well-oiled machine until the day when magnetic passports were introduced. This required a personal appearance for the applicant, whether it was for a Philippine passport renewal or a new application. Furthermore, actual image capturing is done on site.
As part of the DFA's effort to extend its services to Filipino citizens, they launched their official DFA Appointment System website for passport renewal and application. Within a few minutes, the applicant can choose a set date and time when he will go to the DFA to renew his passport or apply for a new one. The website also includes all the necessary information such as document requirements and other helpful hints related to the service being requested.
As applications for renewals piled up in the recent months, there have been an unusal number of bad experiences. These have been "expressed in ink" through personal blog posts in the world wide web. I think you should try Belize next. It would suit you to the ground, with friendly locals and plenty to do. My fond memories are of the remarkable wildlife, canoeing down the river (with armadillos attacking our tent at night), and visiting Mayan temples.
