I live in the Philippines and I can tell you that the hotels here are just about the same as everywhere else in the world. All cities have low end places that cater to locals that may be traveling between the provinces. The bigger cities usually have luxury places similar to say Holiday Inn that cater to foreigners and wealthy Filipinos. The resort areas like Boracay have luxury resorts that would compare to any where like Hawaii, Cancun etc. The hotel industry has developed over time the same way as in America. Years ago there were lots of small basic places and over the years that has developed into a very sophisticated industry.
One thing that we do not have here is time share.

I am in Singapore calling a hotel in Philippines Manila. The Country code is 63, Area code 2 and phone no. of the hotel is 7508888. I have set the country in YM to Singapore. The number I dial is 6327508888.
I have tried calling many times and each time it sucessfully dial and I can hear the ringtone, but then no one is answering. The hotel I am calling is MANDARIN ORIENTAL MANILA (De Luxe), so the main line should be man 24 hours but I tried both day and night and yet no one is answering. So I suspect there must be something wrong with my steps. Anyone can help ? The issue have been resolved. I added a + sign and it works.
