Philippine Hotel Reservation

Any Filipino who can share his/her travel experience in Malaysia?

I am from Philippines, we are planning to go to Malaysia on Oct. 2008 via air asia (Clark, Phils.) We are planing to go there on our own, and stay for 5 days, but we dont know what we should do because this will be our first time to travel. Aside from passport and pocket money, what else should we prepare? How much pocket money is needed? Do we have to get travel insurance? Do we have to present medical certificate at the immigration? Is it required that we already have hotel reservations before we leave? How is the immigration at Clark Airport? What do they usualy ask? How can we avoid having problems at the immigration?

It will be our first time to travel that is why I have a lot of questions...Can anyone help me please...?

I am not a Filipino but a Malaysian. I can answer some of your questions.

As a Filipino, you don't need a visa to enter Malaysia. The immigration clearance will be a breeze, no medical certificates required. You may be asked to present your return ticket though. Always keep the arrival card after the immgration have stamped your passport. You'll need to show this arrival card when you are flying out from Malaysia later. Flying via Air Asia means you will land at the LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal) airport and not KLIA. From LCCT, I suggest you take the airport coach to KL Sentral ( standard fare, much cheaper than taking a taxi ). From KL Sentral, you may take a taxi, bus or LRT (Light Railway Transit) to Kuala Lumpur city centre.

For hotel, i would suggest you stay at Tunehotel. Tunehotel is a sister company of AirAsia, they offer real cheap hotel rate, sometimes as low as RM1.00. You need prior booking for this. Don't worry eventhough this is a budget hotel, it is a very decent and clean hotel. However at very cheap rate, a very basic room is expected. Go to www.tunehotel.com.my

As for spending money, i can't really answer because it really depends on where you want to visit. However to give you a rough idea, RM50.00 - RM70.00 would be enough for you to go around Kuala Lumpur in a day ( decent meals, transportation, light shopping ). Try take the LRT, it has good connections in the city centre, you can save a lot. If you want to take a taxi , always ask the price before you get into the taxi or insist the driver to use meter. If the driver quote you a flat fare, negotiate at least 30% off the price, the same applies when you go shopping especially at ChinaTown (50%)

Eventhough I have never gone through Clark Airport but i can assure you that you will face no problem in getting through the immigration. As a foreigner I have gone through the immigration at Aquino Airport but everything went smoothly. As a Filipino at a Filipino airport, i really don't see any possible problem that you'll have with the immigration. Normally for checking out, immigration officers won't even ask you anything , at the most "are you going for holiday ?" or some general questions.
