Sight-seeing in Manila

Manila is a bustling, vibrant city boasting history and culture at every corner. Here, you will see a fascinating mix of Spanish, Chinese, and Malay influences that collectively make up the Philippines' unique identity. If you ever find yourself in town, the places listed below are just some of the popular attractions that you must check out:

Manila Cathedral. Originally built in 1581, this centuries-old church is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Manila. Although it has been damaged several times during wars and natural disasters, the church still stands as a lasting reflection of the Philippines' deep devotion to the Catholic faith.

Rizal Park. Also called Luneta Park, this historic landmark is where National Hero Jose Rizal was executed in 1896, sparking a revolution against the country's Spanish colonizers. Today, it is a popular recreational venue, with a monument of the beloved hero as the focal point of the park.

Intramuros. Built during the Spanish regime, Intramuros is a stunning sight to behold with its majestic and sturdy walls that have lasted for more than four centuries.  This used to be called the Walled City of Manila and housed only the Spanish elite. Nowadays it is a favorite attraction of both history buffs and those desiring to enjoy the night life. The place is presently surrounded by a bevy of restaurants with live bands and other cultural performances occasionally being held within its premises.

While touring Manila, you can stay at White Knight Hotel Intramuros, which is located at the Walled City's Plaza San Luis Complex. It offers cozy, amply equipped accommodations where you can rest those tired feet after wandering all day. This hotel in Manila is also currently offering the Eat-All-You-Can and Eat-All-You-Can-for-Students promos to guests who will be dining at its Coco Bango Café. Students get to enjoy an even lower rate when they present their school ID.

Golf enthusiasts, meanwhile, will find the hotel's Golf-All-You-Want and Golf-All-You-Want-Too promos quite enticing. Reservations for a 2-night stay at the Executive Twin or Queen room type of the hotel entitle guests to 2 days of golf time at Intramuros Golf Course. Those staying for 3 nights, on the other hand, are afforded 3 days of golf time. These packages are also inclusive of breakfast, transfer and car service to and from the golf course, airport pick-up and send-off, and golf-all-day-long fees.

So what are you waiting for? Explore Manila and have a dose of Philippine history and culture!

White Knight Hotel Intramuros' Eat-All-You-Can and Golf-All-You-Want promos can already be availed when you dine at the Coco Bango Café or upon reserving at the hotel. For more information and to start booking your Manila accommodations at the hotel, visit http://www.whiteknighthotelintramuros.com/. Use its online reservation system to make direct reservations and receive instant confirmation.

Anyone hear anything about a new hotel in Vegas for Filipino workers only?

My wife, a filipina, said she saw an ad on TFC about a new hotel in Vegas that is looking exclusively for Filipino workers. The hotel is still under construction, but she said the owner is willing to pay for workers to come from the Philippines, and they pay him back through their wages.
Anyone know anything about this? Thanks!
Phoenix do you remember the name of the hotel? Is it too late for someone to have a chance to get there?
If you can remember the name of the hotel, I'll do the research.
San Francisco is in California? How much you want for that bridge, smartass?
Y'all are going to be really surprised to find out that this is true. Most of my responses, I posted it in 2 different places, are from Americans and they automatically think scam, or give a smartass remark. Just can't believe that anyone would want to pick another nationality over us. Wake up people, Americans are usually rude and grude.
Now about that bridge in San Francisco (Iowa isn't it).

yes it is true. It was even on the news. They conducted interview in the Philippines a couple of days ago. Applicants that will be hired will be flying to the US probably on October this year. It also says that the owner wants Filipino worker because they were dedicated with their job, honest and industrious. They also like the working attitude of Filipinos for they always wear smiles while working and seldom whine about hard works.

What hotels in Bangkok hire filipino waiters?

I am a Filipino presently living here in Bangkok with my wife. I'm looking for a job as a waiter in hotels or restaurant within Bangkok. Hopefully someone can help me...

Not being Thai you are not allowed to do any work without a work permit. For the jobs you state there is no way you will get one. Foreigner's to Thailand can only get work permits for work that cannot be done by Thais. Some examples are, Teaching English, very high skilled technicians, etc.

Free Advertising for Filipino Entrepreneurs

Press Release:  "FILAMABUHAY"

In an unlikely bi-coastal merger, the Philippines will begin the launch of its largest re-branding campaign -ever. Discover the Philippines, will give international recognition to the beauty and success of the Filipino community.

(Financial Update: During the past decade, while recession plagued the US and Europe and countries; like Mexico and Hawaii, who depended on their tourism dollars. The economy of the Philippines has actually flourished. Smart investors flooded the islands with cash and sparked a renaissance in the business sectors. On average, over the past decade, the US Dollar has maintained a 40-times return in the Philippines, making it one of the last 'old school' financial havens for internationals (and wealthy locals) looking for more secure investments. For them, it was no longer safe enough to invest in the United States 'Inner Cities' or 'Emerging US Markets' so, they outsourced their investments to the Philippines and gained $40 from $1 instantly. But growing concern is that Filipinos are not benefiting enough from this surge due to a lack of business interest and/or knowledge.)

Now, with a new economy in place, the Philippines is ready for a huge marketing and re-branding effort that will shine a light on the new sprawling estates, exquisite hotels, high-end boutique resorts, and other ventures that have popped up all over the islands.

The savvy Filipino entrepreneurs who have remained in or jumped into business in the past decade will benefit big. Making the Philippines the next hot tourist destination means billions of US dollars to the countries economy. To ensure the success of this effort, award winning and controversial entrepreneur and publisher Kareem Antonio will need to unify the vision of the more than 7,000 islands and promote them heavily in the US. Standing behind pop Icon Arnel; who lives in Manila, publishing and visual icons in the Philippines and Los Angeles will create the largest marketing campaign to promote the Philippine islands and foster entrepreneurship amongst Filipinos.

In a recent interview, pop mega star -and proud Filipino- Arnel expressed the importance of entrepreneurship within the Filipino community. Especially, Filipino-Americans who are well educated, gainfully employed and living in the States.
In another interview, publisher Kareem Antonio announced that he would be leading the group launching the Philippines largest re-branding campaign in history. "......the Philippines is in need of a new branding strategy that will spark entrepreneurship and showcase the booming businesses already in the Philippines. Not to forget the natural, unrealized beauty of the islands themselves." says Kareem.

Beginning with the premier of The Philippines Magazine, (the exclusive sponsor of Discover the Philippines) which will showcase photography from the islands and garner nearly 1,000 entrepreneurs. Award winning visual creative Melvin Cerna, in Davao will lead the team of creatives who will capture the beauty of the Philippines and translate it onto the pages. His unique style will hopefully be eye-opening to Americans and peek interest in the islands.

With nearly 1,000 Filipino-American entrepreneurs and distribution from Beverly Hills to the most rural islands in the philippines -that may not have consistent internet, the magazine will bring awareness to the Filipino entrepreneur communities and create commerce by an between Filipinos.

Sponsorships have made nearly $100,000 in free advertising available for Filipino Entrepreneurs. If you're Filipino and have a business or service more than likely you qualify for a free listing in the Philippines Magazine. Filipino entrepreneurs be counted "FILAMABUHAY"
