Where is the best resort for snorkeling and free diving in Egypt?
I am thinking about going to Egypt and would like to know what each resort is like for snorkeling. I would like to know what you can see there and the habitat as well.
I go to Na'ama, and stay at the Sofitel, which is great for snorkelling and freediving. Dahab is the freediving centre, but it's a bit less developed and a bit more bohemian. There are good boat trips out to the other reefs, like Ras Mohamed and the Tiran Islands. All have excellent shallow reefs that are easy to explore without SCUBA.
My advice is to stay at the most expensive hotel that you can afford, in order to minimize your chances of getting the local gut-rot. Staying at a cheaper place may look a good idea, but not when you have to spend a week 'confined to barracks'.
