Subic, A Quick Getaway From the City of Manila

Subic is a town that belongs to the Zambales province. This is the place that was home to many American Fleets because of the American navy base that was established there years ago. It was the largest base for American military in Asia. The base was first established by Spanish colonizers where ships would dock for repairs. After the defeat of Spain by the Americans the base because the marine and navy base for Americans. The base grew each year becoming a huge facility for the US seventh fleet.

Then in 1991 the Senate of the Philippines rejected the contract by the US government to lease the Subic Naval base for more years. The USS Belleau Wood was the last ship to leave the base on November of 1992. The Americans who left helped eight thousand residents of the city of Olongapo for many years in terms of business and infrastructure. The mayor then was Richard Gordon. He pledged to protect the facilities that have been established there amounting to eight billion dollars of properties. He pledged to protect the place and stop the people who will destroy and loot on the premises. Subic Bay became a zone for commercialism under the authority of the SBMA known as the Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority.

Recently the expressway for Clark to Subic and Clark to Tarlac was completed. This expressway made going to Subic faster in thirty minutes only from Clark. Subic then added an airport for international flights. This airport has reported a rapid growth. It is becoming another gateway to the country. Olongapo city and Angeles city will attract more tourism ventures into their provinces. Manila the capital city is closer to Subic.

More budget airlines have opened their business in Subic. There is an airline that is offering direct flights from South Korea to Subic. The number of tourists coming in to visit Olongapo city is fast rising. The former US base is becoming a zone for economy. There are more businesses for recreation like hotels and resorts. Tourists come to see the place but to experience the new programs for eco-tourism. Tourism is actually the reason why the revenue of the town is largely increasing each year. Most of the tourists come from Asian countries like Japan and Korea.

There are many things to do in Subic. This can be an ideal place for scuba divers. The officer for tourism calls Subic as the pearl of the orient seas. There are many ship wreckages to visit and the seas are teeming with marine life as well as different varieties of coral reefs. Major ship wreckage sites can be reached in twenty minutes from Subic. The boats that are used are motor boats and not the wooden bancas. There are many diving schools with licensed divers to help each visitor. They will also suggest sites which the visitors can choose. Diving is fast becoming a sport and recreation for many city dwellers wanting to explore the underworld. The novice diver can enroll and study in many diving schools in Subic.

Subic also has a safari attraction. The whole are is a land with twenty five hectares. The animals just roam about and enjoying nature. The animals are not kept in cages. Visitors can have an interaction with ostrich, bears and dears. They will also see horses, ducks, monkeys and eagle.

Subic is one of the nearest towns from Manila where there are many activities to do. Other things you can do is playing tennis in the tennis club, swimming in the different resorts and beach clubs and sightseeing dolphins in the ocean park. If you need a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city Subic can be the place you need for a break.

Professionals  strive to avoid these errors while those who are not, cannot avoid for lack of education or training. Try to use the spelling check provided by email providers such as gmail. Of course there exceptions like when you are writing in vernacular to somebody who prefer the vernacular way.

3.  S - Smile – make your Email Smile.  When you say for example: " I would like to inform you" it's just a flat idea that does not connote something that you are smiling, but if you say  " I'm pleased to inform  you" , it connotes a smile because you say that you are pleased.  Other examples: "I'm happy to inform you that ..." ;  " I would appreciate if you can ..." , ; "I shall be glad to hear from you"

4. D - Dwarf the negative, Giant the positive. In a conversation with a client, you can encounter problems involving complaints, blames, regrets or any situation that makes you unable to meet client's expectations. Try to minimize or dwarf  the negatives that you are bombarded with, then maximize or giant the positive that your client may not have possibly considered. To soften the approach, start with acknowledging concern of the problem.

Example: a) Problem:  "Location is far"

Acknowledge concern: "I understand your concern sir. And certainly there are locations nearer than this but their prices could also be much higher that could go way beyond your budget.

Dwarf the negative: "But look, the main highway is accessible by jeep and going inside is just 3-minute ride with a tricycle.   Giant the positive: So you can enjoy comfortable living in your home with its affordability and accessibility   Example b) Problem:  "The price is quite expensive" Acknowledge concern: "It's true that price is an important factor.   Dwarf the negative: But with good location, security, and with all the first class amenities of the subdivision, and yet you can apply for a long term loan Giant the positive: So you can enjoy all these features and benefits at an affordable monthly amortization.

5. A - Appreciation and courtesy must be expressed: Don't just say " This is to confirm that I received your reply and your picture attachments"  say " Thank you for your prompt reply and I appreciate very much your efforts in attaching the pictures"  or " I appreciate very much your efforts in complying with the documentary requirements of the developer."

6.  A - Answer all questions with clarity. Don’t miss even one. Sometimes, you may encounter a lot of questions from your client scattered all over the body of their email. It's good to spot them one by one and number each of the question so your client will appreciate that you really care in every concern they have. Based on experience, some people missed some questions from clients as they simply reply with these questions unanswered.

Specific questions about moving to the Philippines?

I have the basic idea of cost, living, what to do, etc. But I dont know how to find a school for teaching me how to be a dive master, or how to bring money over since I cant get a bank account(cashier check?), where to get DSL, or a cell phone.....

I am coming from the USA and want to move to Cebu, or Puerto Galera and go to school. I know school and gear and everything should run about 2 grand, and I am looking at about 400/mo for a 3/4 bedroom house, and its relativley cheap to live out there. Can anyome make a suggestion as to How to bring money over, or even How much should I bring with the stuff I plan on doing?? Or where can I keep it safe??

Also would I need a vehicle since I may not be able to get a school nearby, a bicycle?? Car?? Motorcycle?? I am saving up right now so I am looking for an estimate to save so I can get an idea.

Yats Wine Experience is a public wine appreciation event.  Because there are no sponsors, participants are never exposed to pushy wine salesmen or subjected to boring sales pitches and speeches.  Every event has a different theme designed to highlight a certain aspect in wine appreciation.  Although the whole point about Yats Wine Experience is really to have a wonderful time with wine and congenial company, many participants leave the event knowing more about wine.

 

Format of YATS Wine Experience – YWE - Session

 

YATS Wine Cellars regularly hold non-commercial wine tasting to help wine enthusiasts expand their knowledge of wine in a most enjoyable and affordable way.  These tastings are different from other commercial tastings.  The wines from these tastings are not sponsored by a wine merchant and there are no salesmen.  You are in the company of people from all ages and all walks with one common interest – wine.

 

Tickets can be purchased in advance at a discount.  Each ticket comes with five tasting stubs.   The wines are lined up at a wine service station.  Present a ticket at this station to surrender the stubs to redeem a tasting pours (roughly 55-60ml per pour) of five wines on the line-up.

 

Someone will always be available to answer questions or discuss topics pertinent to the theme of the wines in the event.  Otherwise the event is a self-paced tasting exercise that is the most structured and economical way to sample interesting wines.

For this event, we re-visit some interesting and some up-and-coming wine regions in France.  Fine vintage wines are being discovered much to the (pleasant) surprise of the more adventurous wine enthusiasts who took the trouble to seek out new and exciting wine regions within the geographical areas commonly referred to as "the old world".  For this particular Yats Wine Experience session, we visit these wine regions:

 

• Burgundy – Featured in this YWE session is the white wine of Burgundy that many wine lovers laud as the best rendition of Chardonnays in the world;

 

• Alsace – is deservedly revered for its lovely full-bodied white wine made from Riesling, Pinot Gris or Gewurztraminer;  they are somewhat heavier than those of

their German counterparts, dry and more intense

 

• Saint-Emilion – political turmoil leading to annulment of its recent re-classification didn't dampen the market's enthusiasm for wine from this Right-bank region of Bordeaux which houses legends like Cheval Blanc and Ausone

 

• Côtes du Rhone – ground zero for the so-called GSM Rhone Rangers,GSM referring to the fundamental Rhone cepage of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre

 

•  Anjou in the Loire Valley is famous for its full-bodied Rosé made from Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Grolleau which is absolutely delightful with all sorts of cold cuts

what happens to a UPS shipped package if the address is wrong?? HELP!?

hi ;) i had a pair of jeans shipped to the holiday inn express at 14814 Hawthorne Blvd. Lawndale CA. but unfortunately i was informed by my uncle (hes a pilot for Philippine airlines and their hotel is the holiday inn) that the name of the hotel changed to Baymont inn and suites in the same address of 14814 Hawthorne Blvd. Lawndale CA. my uncle is still scheduled to fly to CA a few weeks from now and i dont know if the package is really there considering of the change of name of the hotel. i checked the ups website and it said that it was delivered to an office, not FRONT DESK like it usually does. my question is, even if the name of the place changes but has the same location, does that affect the destination of the package?? i live in the Philippines so calling long distance isnt really an option for me, so please help! thanks!

Sending Flowers to the Philippines

I was able to save more than two hundred dollars in my recent travel to Kuala Lumpur from the Philippines. Instead of boarding up for the week in a cheap hotel, I discovered the week prior to my leave that an old friend had migrated and taken an expatriate status in the Bangsar area of Kuala Lumpur, one of the better-looking districts of Malaysia’s capital. We weren’t really close to go out of our ways to see one another outside work but we were close enough to share a few rounds of alcohol.

So she told me to give her a ring when I arrived in Malaysia. From the Philippines I took a flight to Singapore for a conference and took the bus to Kuala Lumpur, a good five hour drive down the long highway connecting Singapore to KL. She had offered me her place to stay for the week long vacation I decided to take this opportunity to extend my escape from the Philippines, as I still fondly remember. As it turns out she would be leaving (for Singapore, also for a conference) and really didn’t mind entrusting her place to me for the time being. I would jokingly call myself “her kept man.” This was probably the kindest gesture someone ever did for me and there I was, in one of the nicest condominiums in KL for an entire week.

And it took days for me to figure out what to give her in return. You see the catch was that my flight to the Philippines and her flight back didn’t coincide. I would be left leaving an empty condominium, dropping the key into the drop box in the administrator’s office for her to pick up a day after I left.

I usually spent afternoons in the coffee shop a good five minutes away from the condo and right beside it a grocery store where I’d get my cereals for the day and wine for the night. Part of my “returning home gift” for her included me restocking her pantry with cereals, cheese, bread and a bottle of house wine. But there was still something missing. Looking around the furnished condo I knew I was missing that special touch. And then it dawned on me as I glanced at the counter near the television. I ran back to the grocer and picked up a fresh batch of assorted flowers. Back in the condo, I emptied the vase of old water with withered flowers and replaced them. Good as new, her place now had that special touch.

Days later she leaves me a message on the computer saying she was very thankful for the pantry gesture - and especially gleeful about the floral arrangement in the living room. It’s a great feeling to know that you can make someone so happy even when you are so far away.  Since she moved in, this was the first time that vase’s contents were replaced.

How do i properly drop in/ take off in bigger surf?

We had good swell come in this weekend. I surf here in the Philippines, we hit up Zambales.

Saturday, we were getting small clean waves, 3ft - 4ft (between waist and shoulder height), i really enjoyed that session.

Come Sunday, we hit a different spot, it was bigger and clean but the waves were really heavy. It reached a good 6ft - 7ft. I had no problems getting out, i made it out to the line up.

I was just wondering, if there is any specific way on how to drop in or take off in bigger waves, couldn't get myself to take the 6ft drop.

Is it all in the head? i was terrified on wiping out on the wave and getting knocked under the wave.

I need tips/ advice on how to take that initial drop! please help!

a "bigger wave" is no different than a smaller wave. you paddle your hardess and then jump up.
don't look back, just paddle.
the trick with bigger waves is timing. you have to catch it right before it breaks. with bigger waves onces you know you cought it stand up (not to early or it will just pass you), stand up and cruise down the face of the wave. then turn and surf it in!
make sure when you paddle your hands are tite to the board, this makes every stroke count that much more.

how can I remove the words "TAGA LIPA ARE" from the title bar?

Everytime we open internet explorer or open our home page the words "TAGA LIPA ARE" is there. Meaning there is the internet explorer icon, then the words Yahoo then the words TAGA LIPA ARE. Or We do not know how that came about since no one typed those words, we are not even from Lipa (because if translated those words mean "we are from Lipa, a town in Southern Philippines). Everytime we surf the net those words are in the title bar next to the internet explorer icon. How do we remove it?

Have you encountered "pulis patola" in the Philippines?

Well, there are so many here (including the ones in Mendoza incident). It was new year's day (2011) when a wounded teenager suddenly entered our house premise, asking us to hide him because someone wanted to kill him with a sword. We didn't let him inside the house and locked the doors instead. While our dog was barking so loud, I contacted 117 (which is equivalent to 911 in US). The operator sounded angry and connected me slowly to the police. The police (sergeant in Novaliches, Q. C.) sounded irritated during the call (maybe because I disrupted his holiday) and promised to come and help us. In the end, we solved our own problems, the guy went out on his own. When my dad arrived, he searched the whole house . Then, that was the time we felt safe . There was no shadow of any police. We learned later that there was a riot of teenager gangsters on the next street that day.
Maybe next time, it is better to call the media..lol...

Your question is what exactly?

All you have done is tell the world that you refused to assist an injured person who was a genuine victim of a serious assault. You threw him out and locked your door.

i already know that it stands for self contained underwater breathing apparatus
