Boracay Philippines

Where is the best place to stay in Boracay Philippines?

Thanks the hotels are so great but I also want to know the ones with not so high rates but highle recommendable.

I like Boracay Beach Club.
The resort, rooms, and pool are clean and quiet. The food was delicious and fresh (Ariel's Restaurant). Its one minute walk reaching the white beach, 2 minutes if you want to eat at Jonah's shake (must try!). It was rainy when we got to Boracay but the pool saved our first day, spending the whole afternoon with my family. We also rented ATV and Reef walker the next day. The beach itself is lovely, you can just play and splash around.

Try browsing TripAdvisor. I learned this hotel at this website. There are lots of options - hotel, inns, and special lodging. Feedbacks from other users may help you assess if the place/resort is worth the visit.

Philippines - Australia Economic Cooperation Results in 17% RP Exports Growth

<!-- @page { margin: 0.79in } P { margin-bottom: 0.08in } -->

In the first quarter of 2010 alone, a 17% growth has already been documented in Philippine exports to Australia. This further boosted the two way trade between the two countries which amounted to $2.5 billion in 2009. This significant development in Philippines - Australia economic cooperation was reported at the website of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade website.

Philippine - Australia business relations have always been fruitful. In fact, as early as 1975, the Australia Philippines Business Council (APBC) had already been established with a Philippine counterpart organization, the Philippines Australia Business Council (PABC). These two organizations take care of widening and strengthening networking among the business communities of the Philippines and Australia toward even better business cooperation.

More recently, on 1 January 2010, the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA) was forged. This covers Australia, the Philippines, New Zealand, Brunei, Burma, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam. Evidently, based on the results so far, this has indeed enhanced Philippine - Australia trade and investment.

Growth was being seen in Philippine – Australia trade even before the AANZFTA was put in place, though. In 2009, Philippine – Australia trade in terms of services totaled $407 million in exports to the Philippines and $463 million in imports from the Philippines. This represented a growth of 11.7 per cent over the 2008 figures. Australian service exports to the Philippines in 2009 were dominated by education-related travel at $150 million and personal travel services at $81 million. Australian service imports from the Philippines in the same year were dominated by personal travel at $320 million and business and professional travel at $41 million.

Philippine – Australia trade in merchandise exports and imports also show positive figures. In 2009, the largest Australian merchandise exports to the Philippines were copper ores and concentrates at $195 million; human and veterinary medicaments at $120 million; milk and cream at $95 million; and refined petroleum at $70 million. The largest Australian merchandise imports from the Philippines in the same year were batteries and electric accumulators at $36 million; copper at $31 million; telecommunications equipment and parts at $30 million; and radio broadcast receivers at $27 million.

Philippines - Australia economic cooperation extends to the mining industry. About 10 Australian companies are involved in mining explorations and development in the Philippines. Australia is actually considered as one of the major foreign investors in Philippine mining. In this connection, the Philippines-Australia Resources Education Excellence Program (PAREEP), launched in October 2009, awarded 25 scholarships to Filipino undergraduate students for studies in geology, mining, metallurgical engineering, environmental science and management, and community development. This is seen as another worthy investment in the future of Philippines - Australia economic cooperation.

Philippines - Australia tourism has also been healthy. In fact, in an online poll conducted by the reputable Australian website, Expedia.com.au, in December 2007, the Philippines ranked first in the Top 10 Emerging Food Destinations among 5,067 poll responses.

It is expected that in the following quarters of 2010, even higher growths will be seen in the bilateral Philippine Australia trade and investment activities as business relations are further strengthened. After all, economic and business cooperation will redound to the good of both countries.

The Philippines

The Pearl of the Orient Seas is known for its pristine white beaches, diverse flora and fauna, alluring tourist destination and exceptionally warm people. This is why more and more tourists come back to the Philippines every year to relive the magical experience only the Philippines has to offer. It is said that one comes to the Philippines for the view but stays for the people.

The Philippines is a diverse culture. It offers numerous ethnolinguistic groups, as well as different tribes, all of which contribute greatly to the diversity that is the Pinoy culture. The richness of the culture does not just begin at these various ethnic groups, but is also borne out of the numerous colonizers who came to the Philippines: the Spanish, the Americans and the Japanese—all three of which occupied the country at one point in time.

Living in the Philippines mean having to be surrounded by warm and hospitable people. Filipinos are hospitable by nature because they take pride and honor at treating other people with enthusiasm. This rapport with guests is borne out of the fact that Filipinos treat everyone as if they are part of one's extended family.

The Philippines is well-renowned for their warmth and hospitality which is why every visit to the Philippines guarantees a good stay as the people make sure and take pride at treating their guest right at home. Not only that, but because of the rich culture of the Filipinos, their arts (performing, visual, and culinary) are all but stunning and exceptional. Puerto Galera: Serendipity at Its Finest!

For sand and sun lovers, food lovers, party lovers and for people who wants to fall in-love, Puerto Galera gives you the easiest access to a perfect summer getaway. This island is deeply scalloped with snorkeling spots and coves edged in powdery white sand, the islands inviting coastline will give you a charming atmosphere you always dreamed of.

Situated on the northern peninsula of Mindoro island, approximately 160km from Manila, Puerto Galera (Port of Galleon) was an excellent port for Spanish Galleons seeking refuge from heavy storms and typhoons. Now that the Galleon days are over, the island become a world class diving spot and a perfect get away for anyone who shows interest in outdoor activities. Trekking high up over the sea-front hills shows vistas of sandy cove after sandy cove fading into the horizon. But the greatest attraction of this island cannot be seen from here. More than twenty world-class dive sites await those willing to put their heads under water, and the nationalities of the diving instructors reflect the main visitors; Americans, Europeans and Australians tend to dominate the diving stations around Puerto Galera. The cost of vacationing and diving is as good as it gets and beginners can qualify inexpensively on a three-day course. The scuba diving season in Puerto Galera is year-round, and going under water can be a good way to escape any rain.

The Trip

It was early morning of Thursday when I left Manila to catch up with the first trip to Puerto Galera via Batangas Port. It has been always in my plan to travel during evening for long trips and early morning for short trips, practically to avoid the traffic in the metropolis. Upon reaching White Beach, it took me fifteen minutes to reach New Encenada Beach Resort, located at Sitio Pandangan, the resort offers a different Puerto Galera experience, no beach vendors, no roving masseurs, only turquoise waters nestled in the famous encenada cove. Unspoiled and uncrowded, Endcenada Beach Resort is the place to get away from it all. The beach here, arguably the best in Puerto Galera, is almost one hectare of nice designed cottages, dive shop, restaurant, souvenir shop and beach volleyball court. Encenada means a protected place; true to its name, the beach itself is a complete island destination where you can be treated like a god.

On the second day, I met Joey, the jolly and gay all around majordomo of the resort, he brought me to the poblacion by a fifteen-minute walk by the seashore. The resort staff’s are all nice, a living proof of the famous Filipino hospitality. The place is more of a garden and the beach is just another unusual surprise. Imagine a sunrise in a beautiful veranda, surrounded by various species of palm trees and colorful flora that gives a vista of a beautiful and exotic hideaways, truly; stumbling upon this beach was serendipity at its finest. Now tell me, who needs the Caribbean?

The New Encenada Beach Resort may not be a five-star resort but its ambiance is more of a home, giving you the feel of being in Boracay a couple of decades ago. No noisy night bars, no internet but mobile phone connections are excellent. During night, the overlooking veranda type of restaurant offers not so expensive freshly cooked local foods. There are 42 rooms available, composed of ten nipa hut and thirty-two concrete cottages located in the main building. For underwater explorers, there is an in-house dive shop with professional dive instructors to guide you to the coral gardens just of shore and in the marine reserve of Varadero Bay. If you like island hopping you can hire a motorized banca and explore the nearby beaches or you may walk along the beach to reach the town center for gift shops, internet cafes and a couple of restaurants.

On my third day, I met Christina Fuentebella, the charming owner of the resort. She managed the resort for almost fifteen years in partnership with an Australian lawyer. She prepared me a jigger of “Mindoro Sling”, their in-house specialty mixed drink, thus heaven begins. Live acoustic bands are performing in the restaurant every Friday and Saturday night, singing romantic love songs and reggae, a la Jamaica nights. On my last evening I’m beginning to love the place like a home, walking around the shore alone sounds lonely with the crystalline night sky like a trespassing constellation. The stars are thick upon my head. I’ve spent the entire trip by myself, it’s all about resting like you never did before, and the serene coolness that comes with being alone but not lonely has settled into my body. I’ve stopped listening and observing my mobile phone, and even though I’m wandering in completely different environment, I feel no danger. Still, if I were part of a honeymooner couple right now, I’d head right off this secret cove and sneak onto the beach to re-create another travel tale, this time more romantic. Oh well, next time.

Getting There

More economical are the commercial buses of BLTB, JAM and TRITRAN. Bus terminals can be found in Cubao, and in Buendia in Pasay City. Schedules of these buses are quite erratic, but the earliest bus usually leaves at 6AM and every hour from then on (depending on the volume of passengers). Fare on these buses range from Php 80 to 100 depending on whether it is a regular or an air-con bus.

At the Batangas City Pier, there is a wide selection of ferries going to Puerto Galera, depending on which port guests intend to enter. (There are three main entry points to Puerto Galera by way of its port facilities: Muelle Pier, Balatero Pier, and Sabang Beach).

Travel Nepal

Enchantment is everywhere in Nepal; be it in the cool and invigorating shade of the high mountains, or on terraced farmlands carved like stairways out of hill ridges, or still across waterfalls, creeks, rushing mountain rivers amidst gorges, valleys and forests teeming with a cornucopia of flora and fauna. There are lakes amidst breathtaking settings, strong-current rivers for rafting, Wildlife Safaris, the tallest mountains to climb, trekking across vales and dales, and, above all, warm, friendly, welcoming people. In this respect, Nepal becomes a perfect holiday destination for tourists, trekkers, mountaineers, writers, honeymooners, lovers, retired people and people interested in research.

Nepal Geography

As Nepal is sandwiched between two economic and geographical Leviathans, it is rightfully regarded as “ A Yam between Two Boulders” as While Nepal abuts on Indian border in the east, the west and the South, Tibetan Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China shares the vast Himalayan frontier with Nepal. The length of the county is 885 kilometers from east to west, and its breath varies from 145 kilometers to 241 kilometers from north to south. The total area is 147,181 sq. kilometers.

 Climate

Nepal isn’t only the home of mysterious Yeti and elusive Snow Leopard, but also a constant cause of wonder for meteorologists for her simply amazing variations in climatic conditions. Divided into three different geographical regions, Nepal houses the snow-capped Himalayas in the north, a vast stretch of plains in the south and two chains of hills, known as Mahabharata and Churiya range, acting as a geological bridge between the northern and southern region.

The most astonishing thing about the geography of Nepal is that the distance between the tropical lowlands and the snow-capped mountainous region is very less. While the distance between the tropical and alpine regions in most of the countries around the globe is more than 1000 km, it is just less than 100 km in some places in Nepal.. The temperature varies between zero in the mountains to over 30 degrees Celsius in the valleys, and to mercury plummeting up to 38 degrees during summer in the lowlands.

Population

‘Unity in diversity’ is really the mot just for a multi-ethnic, multicultural and multilingual country like Nepal. It had a population of 18,462,081 at the time of the 1991 census. The average population density at the time was 125 persons per sq km (329 per sq mi), although nearly half the people were concentrated in the narrow Terai region. In contrast, the 2003 population estimate was 26,469,569. The population has grown rapidly since 1950 when there were only 9 million people. In 2003 the population was increasing at an annual rate of 2.3 percent. Only 12 percent of the population lived in urban areas. The rate of population in the urban areas, however, has grown significantly thanks to a number of social, political and economic reasons.

Get in

You may need a tourist Visa to enter the country. A propspective visitor can apply for the visa from several embassies and consulates in most countries in the world. Nepal has diplomatic missions in

Australia, Bangladesh, Belgium, Burma, Canada, China, Denmark, Finaland, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Myanmar, The Netherlands, Norway, Pakistan, Phillipines, Spain , Sweeden, Switzerland, Thailand, Tibet, the United Kingdom and the United States of America that issue visas to the propective visitors.

Entrance/Egress

The following entery/exit points have been set by the government of Nepal for the foreign visitors:

1. Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu

2. Kodari, Sindhupalchowk (North)

3. Karkarvitta, Jhapa (East)

4. Belahia,Bhairhawa (West)

5. Birgunj, Parsa (Central Nepal)

6. Jamunaha, Nepalgunj (Mid-East)

7. Mohana, Dhangadi (Far-West)

8. Gadda Chauki, Mahendranagar (Far-West)

Via Air

Since there is only one international airport, Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, in Nepal, it is the Hobson’s choice for vistors to start their Himalayan voyage from the capital city itself. The following airlines company operate their services from/to Kathmandu:

1. Nepal Airlines (Run by the Nepalese government, it operates its service to/from Bangkok, Banglore, Calcutta, Delhi, Dubai, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Osaka, Paris, London, Shanghai, Singapore)

2. Korean Air (Seoul)

3. Biman Bangladesh Airlines (Dhaka)

4. Air China (Lhasa)

5. Condor (Munich)

6. Druk Air (Paro)

7. Gulf Air (Abu Dhabi)

8. Indian Airlines (Delhi, Calcutta, Varanasi)

9. Qatar Airways ( Doha)

10.  Thai International (Bangkok)

11. Martin Air (Amsterdam via Sharjah)

Via Land

Although Indo/Nepal border is a porous one, you must enter the country by road from India through one of the border crossing points ( as described under the heading Entrance/Egress). If you are coming from Tibet, the route is Kodari, Sindhupalchowk. There is no national passenger rail service in Nepal, but there is a rail service operating from Calcutta, India. A train by the name Mithila Express plies regularly between Howrah Station, Calcutta, to Birgunj, one of the chief entry points to Nepal.

Contact

Although the comminication infrastructure of Nepal is not to the world’s standard, still the pincipal cities across the countries entertain almost all forms of sophisticated communication systems. These include:

1. Telephone: The international country code for Nepal is 977. There are two to three digit area code and six-digit local phone numbers. The communication system, operated by Nepal Telecom, a quasi-governmental organization, caters its service in almost all the seventy-five district of the country. But some off-the-map villages don’t have telephone facilities. However, the East-West optical fibre project, which is on the verge of its completion, is expected to cover all the villages and hamlets of the country within two to three years time. Besides Nepal Telecom, United Tele Communication Limited (UTL), a privately owned company, is providing its services in Kathmandu Valley.

2. Cell Phones

Mobiles are widely used, but due to the geoprphical constraints , some rural areas have only analog service, or no service at all. Nepal Telecom and UTL operate operate CDMA networks; Mero Mobile, a private mobile company, operates the only GPRS network. Travellers planning to bring their GPRS phones with them might do well to check that their handset supports the appropriate frequencies.

3. Internet

There are cyber cafes in almost most of the tourist areas all over the country. A trekker can surf the net in Solokhumbu, the entry point of Mount Everest Region. Nomal rate is Rs 20 to 30 per hours in the main cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara. New Pokhara Lodge Lakeside Pokhara offer free internet to hotel's customers.

4. Mail

The snail mail system is there but, as a rule, it is not always speedy. Also, international parcel postal services can be costly. Furthermore, internationally acclaimed courier service providers like DHL and Fedex also have their branches in most parts of the country.

Scuba Diving In The Philippines

scuba diving in the philippines"scuba diving in the philippines"
Tourism in Philippines!?

I have booked flight to Manila for the New Year Holiday. I have not got any reservations or whatsoever, as I have no idea what the best place for active holiday is. I am looking for good scuba diving sites with PADI divers there, some sightseeing and beautiful locations. I have been told to go to Boracay, but I am not sure about it. Because I am also tempted to see the Volcano and stuff.
Would you give any recommendations?

diving + volcano = subic.

Subic bay is a world famous dive site due to the many shipwrecks in shallow, calm, clear waters within the very sheltered bay. Mt. Pinutabo Volcanco is a day trip away, and there are some beaches with surfing a day trip to the north. Excellent nightlife, single's paradise.

Taal Volcano is a daytrip from Metro Manila, you may want to do that trip if you have a free day in the Manila area while you are catching a flight out of Manila or something.

Boracay, Bohol, Palwan all have excellent reef diving excursions, PADI diving schools, etc.. These places tend to be more family or couple orientated.

One of the best deals in the Philippines is the domestic airfares on Philippine Airlines or Cebu Express, look into flights.

Overview of Medical Tourism Philippines: Cosmetic Plastic Surgery

By: Edwin Paul Magallona, MD

Cosmetic surgery has been on an upward trend worldwide especially with the constant and continuous development of surgical and non surgical techniques in recent years... from laser resurfacings to thread lifts...from endoscopic lift surgeries to minimally invasive rejuvenating techniques...

Unfortunately these relatively new and popular elective procedures together with the traditional and effective surgeries are not always accessible and affordable even to those living in developed countries as the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, countries in Europe and parts of Asia. Medical and health services there in general have always been expensive. Cost of course has always been a significant factor and important consideration among many other things for the potential patient...it is after all something universal...The good news though is that certain select countries such as Mexico, Brazil, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines just to name a few, have taken notice and have taken advantage of this dilemma by offering these surgeries at very affordable rates to interested patients outside their territories. The significant price differential between medical and surgical costs between these developed countries and the Philippines in particular have made patients abroad take a second look at this attractive option. Who won’t be amazed with getting a surgery package cost of about a third to a quarter of the price found in most developed countries with just the same results?

Medical tourism in the Philippines has actually been silently ongoing for decades now however it has only been recently wherein the Department of Tourism has actually emphasized and strongly encouraged the Medical profession to join the band wagon. In Asia, Thailand still leads the way in organized and systematic channeling of medical tourism services particularly in cosmetic plastic surgery. The Philippines is rapidly catching up though and is steadily getting a bigger share of the pie.

In 2006, the Department of Health in cooperation with the Department of Tourism came up with the Philippine Medical Tourism Program (PMTP) which is a multisectoral program with the ultimate goal of making the Philippines the leading and foremost destination for wellness and medical care in Asia.

Aggressive local and overseas promotion and an improving tourism infrastructure is a priority of the Philippine government and has brought a significant boost in medical tourism in the country. Initially driven and encouraged by very competitive rates and costs of surgery in this part of the world, patients are now flying in with the desire of having surgery and rejuvenation with the added bonus of seeing and experiencing the best places these islands can offer. Tagaytay, Batangas, Boracay, Cebu, Palawan, and Davao are just some of the more popular tourist destinations which have caught the eye of our foreign visitors and “balikbayans”.

However, sometimes unknowingly, providing much leverage in the development of this relatively new industry is actually and simply the inherent qualities of being a Filipino. The Filipino physician and support staff are typically compassionate, caring, friendly and hospitable. This not only helps in making a foreign patient comfortable and relaxed but also eventually makes his trip and surgery a very pleasant experience. Aside from being generally fluent in the English language, the Filipino medical work force is competitive and of high standards as compared to their Asian neighbors.

Therefore when patients coming from abroad do decide to have elective cosmetic plastic surgeries here in the country, more often than not they get excellent value for their money. Medical and surgical expertise, world class facilities and island destinations, mastery of English, and the typical Filipino, all contribute to the Philippines rise to global competitiveness in medical tourism. Simply put and everything said nothing beats a combined quality and affordable surgery in the setting of a tropical paradise for leisure and recuperation.

Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) in the Philippines

Introduction

The business process outsourcing industry is internationally recognized as one of the fastest growing industries in the world. The demand for outsourcing services is expected to reach a whooping $200 billion in 2010. Customer contact services, finance and accounting, and human resource sub-sectors have the biggest share in the BPO market. It was also forecasted by experts that the BPO trend of cost-effectiveness will inevitably shift to skills quality and competence as the demand, supply and competition continues to grow. This gradual shifting boosts further the Philippine’s drive to becoming a huge leader in the BPO industry.

Philippine BPO

The demand for offshore call centers continues its form hold as the leader in the BPO boom in the Philippines. The Philippines put itself on the spotlight of the BPO map in 2006 when it generated business process service revenues of $2.1 billion, ranking third behind India and China. The Philippine BPO industry reaped a $0.8 billion or an outstanding 62% from its 2004 revenues of $1.3 billion and now has an estimated 200, 000 employees working in an estimated 120 BPO companies in the country. BPO Philippines is expected to earn $11 billion and employ 900, 000 workers by the year 2010.

Legal services, Web design, medical transcription, software development, animation, shared services and other higher-end outsourcing services and not the traditional low-value call centers are what sparked the gigantic growth spurt in the Philippine outsourcing industry. Call centers however, still compose the largest part of the BPO sector. The Philippines has started taking measures to leverage its creative design talent pool, its hefty pool of lawyers, and its professionals in accounting and finance with hopes of dominating the other sectors of BPO.

Fiscal and non-fiscal incentives aimed at enticing foreign direct investments in the offshore servicing industry have been the Philippine government’s primary means of sustaining this rapid climb towards being the king of world BPO.

Metro Manila, Cebu City, and Bacolod City house the majority of BPO facilities in the Philippines, although other regional areas like Baguio City, Cagayan de Oro, Clark (Angeles City), Dagupan City, Davao City, Dumaguete City, Lipa City, Iloilo City and Legazpi City are now highly promoted and fast growing sites for offshore operations. The Philippines has been a permanent top 10 choice for offshore operations since 2006.

Call Center Industry in the Philippines

Contact centers or call centers in the Philippines started out s simple providers of email response and managing services. These call centers possessed industrial capabilities for almost every kind of customer relations service, ranging from travel services, technical support, education, customer care, financial services, and online business to customer support, online business to business support.

Second to skills and competence, primarily the ability to fluently speak English – the primary medium of instruction in all educational levels, the Philippines is often being chosen as BPO provider because of its less costly operational and labor costs. In 2007, The Philippines continues to be a top BPO location for the estimated $150-billion business process outsourcing industry.

For high quality business process outsourcing services please contact CallComInc BPO, the premier BPO provider and call center in the Philippines owned and managed by the Network Marketing Sales Machine Tom Green.

Legal and medical transcription

Legal and medical transcriptions outsource providers generally provide medical reports, discharge summaries, operative reports, therapy/rehabilitation notes, chart notes, and hospital and clinic reports using state-of-the-art software and equipment from the U.S. These BPO servicers can execute per day at a 98% accuracy rate up to 1, 000 lines of transcriptions. Also, it has been a practice to carry out regular training programs to have transcriptionist continuously develop and enhance their skills. Most can generate output in three to six hours for emergency or rushed cases, while normal cases have a general turnover of 24 hours. And Philippine transcription providers normally have 24/7 business hours.

The Philippines has also ruled into law the certification process for all individual companies’ services in legal and medical transcriptions to improve quality and further promote the country’s prowess in this area of BPO. The government and industrial sector has also forged an alliance to mutually sustain the rapid growth of the sector. The addition of medical transcription subjects in medical courses has been the biggest step, with the aim of expanding the nation’s pool of skilled and qualified medical transcription experts.

Finance, Logistics and Accounting

Excessive demands for Philippine financial services such as accounting and bookkeeping, account maintenance, accounts receivable collection, accounts payable administration, payroll processing, asset management, financial analysis and auditing, management consulting, inventory control and purchasing, expense and revenue reporting, financial reporting, tax reporting, and other finance-related services such as financial leasing, credit card administration, factoring and stock brokering; as well as for logistics management, and cargo shipment management have bolstered the country to fast becoming not only a regional but a global hub for shared corporate backroom operations.

The Philippines’ rich pool of low-cost yet English- and IT-proficient business, accounting, HRM and engineering graduates has been the main reason why many companies trust the country with their shared corporate backroom operations. The Philippines is even ranked 16th out of 49 countries in terms of international business experience. Filipino finance, logistics and accounting professionals are also highly regarded for their marked customer service orientation, superior work ethic, and high degree of trainability, flexibility, multicultural adaptability, and loyalty.

Software Development and Animation

The Philippines ranks first in the world in terms of availability of knowledge-based workers. The country also ranks fourth in Asia when it comes to labor quality. The country also excels in the quality of its managers and information technology staff and engineers besides its huge pool of productive, trainable and multi-skilled labor force. The high level of English proficiency, with the country being the third largest English-speaking country in the world, is the reason behind the country’s unique competitive advantage in the realm of animation and software development.

The fast growing global market for animation due to the increasing popularity of animation as a form of entertainment when it comes to television and computer games coupled with the increased use of animation in advertising, internet and education has paved the way for the steady rise of Filipino animators.

Filipino animators can deliver the whole animation package, ranging from full 2D and 3D animation, including pre- and post-production services such as lay-outing, in-betweening, clean-up, digital background production through scanning and pre-compositing, color styling, special effects creation, and digital ink and paint application, to flash animation and web design, graphic and art design, mobile applications, and art and animation training.

In recognition of the Filipino talent in animation, major animation studios like Disney, Marvel, Warner Brothers and Hanna Barbera have established big offices in the Philippines. Pixar's Finding Nemo, Paramount Picture's Barnyard and Twentieth Century-Fox's Anastasia are just a few of the latest works of Filipino animators that hit it big in Hollywood.

The Philippines has also become second only to India as the preference of various countries abroad in the software and web development industry. Many companies in highly developed and rich countries come to the Philippines to take advantage of the low cost yet high quality software and web development offered by the country.

Bohol Things to Do: Bohol Resorts and Outdoor Adventures

If you are looking for a romantic, but affordable island beach holiday then you should consider the beautiful island of Bohol. Located in the Philippines amidst the stunning waters of the South China Sea, Bohol offers a number of adventurous activities as well as romantic views for people with all interests. One of the best things about Bohol Island is the affordable luxury resorts as well as the cheap Bohol hotels available to customers from all economic backgrounds.

Many of the Bohol Island resorts and hotels that line the stunning beaches offer amazing views as well as serene, relaxing environments and accommodations. You can find a number of beaches lined with cozy lounge chairs that look out onto the surrounding waters as well as decadent swimming pools located near the ocean. Walk along the white sandy shores or sit in one of the straw covered gazebos that so many of the hotels offer for their customer's peaceful stay. At night, you can enjoy live local music as well as view a show of spectacular dancing and outlandish dress. Accommodations range from basic one-room huts to master suites with balconies over looking the seas into infinity.

Scuba diving is a popular activity here as the crystal clear waters and numerous islands in the region create the perfect environment for coral to prosper thus encouraging local under sea life to breed and flourish. There are so many amazing diving sites in the region that you may even want to consider planning more than one trip so that you have the opportunity to explore the various underwater wildlife. If getting to know the local animal population is of interest, then be sure to visit the Philippine Tarsier and Wildlife Sanctuary.

The Philippine Tarsier and Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the center of the island, so if you are staying at one of the many beach resorts or hotels along the coast then you will want to contact a local tour operator or your reception desk for more details on how to get to your destination. The sanctuary is home to the country's endangered tarsier in hopes of helping the unique animal maintain a population in the Philippines as well as on the planet.

The Simply Butterflies Conservation Center may also be of interest to you. If you would like a break from the upper end style of your luxury resort in exchange for some local island life, then the Simply Butterfly Conservation Center is for you. You can stay in one of the conservation center's many safari camps and enjoy the nighttime activities of Bohol Island's extensive animal life. You can also book a bird watching excursion that begins just before sunrise should you be so inclined to learn more about the exotic birds of the tropics. Both romantic and exciting, the trip to the sanctuary and the island itself will give you numerous stories and photographs to share with friends and family at home.

For a more active, physical adventure try the Danao Adventure Park. This will also require a trip to the local tour operator or hotel information desk to arrange transportation for, but it is most definitely worth it. With nearly a dozen different type of exciting outdoor activities to choose from, you will want to make sure that your stay on Bohol Island is long enough for you to include all of them. For water lovers, there is kayaking and river tubing. If you love soaring high in the sky, then perhaps you will enjoy the climbing and rappelling adventure. Zip line rides are also very popular here and it is quite possible to purchase packages that include a number of these activities in your trip.

Vibrant And Cosmopolitan City Of Manila

The City of Manila is the thriving capital of the Philippines. The city is also part of Metro Manila together with the other 17 cities and municipalities. The city is the second most populous city in the world, next to Quezon City which is its neighbor. The whole metropolitan area is the second most populous in Southeast Asia. Metro Manila is home to around 14 million people, and the city of Manila is home to 1.6 million people. Manila is nearest Hong Kong which is around 950 kilometers and the city is around 2,400 kilometers northeast of Singapore. The city is located in the west coast of Luzon and the city is surrounded by the fertile plains. There are around 897 barangays in the city and the city is also subdivided into six Congressional Districts.

Manila is a famous player too based on some records. It was said that the city was famous during the Manila-Acapulco trade and this trade lasted for three centuries. In this trade, goods from as far as Mexico were brought to the Southeast including Manila. As a city, Manila is often described as fascinating and a cosmopolitan city and rightfully so. The city of Manila is a lively place that commands an excellent view of the world-famous Manila Bay and its sunset. First time visitors of the city should not miss the well-known Manila bay sunset; a beautiful scene as if straight from the postcards. Another label that can be said of the city is historic- and rightfully so since the city traces a long history in the hands of many colonizers. The city blends the cultures and flavors of its colonizers to bring up a unique Manila experience for the first time travelers and the visitors.

Intramuros: Walled City and Heart of Manila
Intramuros was considered as one of the world’s best preserved medieval cities. The interested travelers and tourists will see here some dungeons and old churches and these buildings share space with art galleries and parks in the area. Just south of the walled city is the Rizal Park. This is considered as the country’s most significant park. This is also known as Luneta, which stands in Stands in Spanish as ‘crescent-shaped’. This is a 53-hectare park and this was the site where the national hero of the Philippines was executed by the Spaniards. Monument in memory of Jose Rizal stands in the park and there is also a towering flagpole to the west of the monument. The park is also the location of Kilometer Zero for road distances on Luzon and the rest of the country.
Rizal Park is also home to many points and places of interest that the traveler will surely like:
• Chinese and Japanese Gardens
• Department of Tourism Building
• National Museum of the Philippines
• The National Library of the Philippines
• Planetarium
• Orchidarium
• Butterfly Pavilion
• Relief Map of the Philippines
• Fountain area
• Children’s lagoon
• Chess Plaza
• Quirino Grandstand
The city is highly urban and a fast-developing city, but still the city of Manila has a number of open public places. The list of open public places and parks include:
• Rajah Sulayman Park
• Mehan Garden
• Paco Park
• Remedios Circle
• Manila Zoological and Botanical Garden
• Malakanyang Garden
And just recently, Manila Ocean Park opened in the city. The city of Manila is also home to the seat of power- the Malacañang Palace. This is the official residence of the chief executive of the country. Travelers and tourists will not be lost and feel tired in the city since Manila also offers a wide range of accommodations, from deluxe hotels to the high-end five star hotels. A number of these accommodations are situated in Roxas Boulevard, near world-renowned Manila Bay. Other well-known hotels in the city are located in the districts of Malate and Manila. One popular hotel in the city of Manila is the Manila Hotel.

Local Philippines: Dazzling Davao

Exploring the beauty of the Philippines is always a thrill. This Southeast Asian nation has been making waves in the tourism industry with its wide selection of scenic spots, festive events, and breathtaking man-made and natural attractions.

Most travelers think that the Philippines is only akin to the beautiful beaches of Boracay and bargain-hunting and bar-hopping adventures in Metro Manila. But most people often missed out on exploring various tourist attractions in Mindanao. One of the leading travel destinations in the southern region is Davao, one of the country's most progressive cities.

Covering an area of 943.6 square meters, Davao is the perfect place for travelers looking to experience an idyllic town setting at the comforts of a modern metropolis. The city, which is three times bigger than the entire Metro Manila, has a lot to offer. The "Land of Promise" is home to pristine beaches, beautiful diving spots, historical sites, and luxury resorts and hotels, among others. It's no wonder, then, that Davao has all the trimmings of an ultimate Philippine vacation.

To guide you to your Davao trip, the author came up with a list of the must-see tourist attractions in the city.

Mt. Apo
Towering over 9,650 feet above sea level, Mt. Apo is the highest peak in the Philippines. This national park is a haven for birdwatchers, as it is home to more than 270 bird species. Mt. Apo is also considered an ideal hiking destination for the adventure-bound. Experts said scaling this volcanic mountain is not a technical one. It may take up to five days to reach the summit depending on your pace.

Philippine Eagle Center
Davao also allows tourists to get up close and personal with the country's national bird, the Philippine Eagle. Situated in Malagos, the Philippine Eagle Center serves as temporary home and a breeding center for the critically endangered bird. The Philippine Eagle, one of the tallest and biggest birds in the world, usually feeds on flying lemurs, wild cats, and squirrels.

Kadayawan Festival
The perfect time to visit Davao would be August, when the city stages one of the most colorful festivals in the Philippines. Kadayawan Festival is an annual thanksgiving celebration for a bountiful harvest. Various activities, including street dancing, tribal parades, trade fairs, flower shows, and horse fight competitions, are lined up during the weeklong festival.

GAP Farming Orchard
You can also embark on a nature trip while in Davao. GAP Farming Orchard is a perfect place to escape city life and pollution. It has well-maintained cottages and camp sites, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, and horseback riding facilities. Exotic flowers and tropical fruits can be found in the garden. A giant one-eyed monster confined in a tunnel built during the Japanese occupation is also a major attraction at the resort.

There are many other things to do in Davao. For adventure seekers, a visit to Camp Sabros in Mt. Apo or to Eden Nature Park for a thrilling zip line experience is a must. For those who love swimming and other water activities, go to Samal Island, which is famous for its white-sand beaches. A Davao adventure is never complete without tasting durian, a fruit famous for its unique odor and thorn-covered husk.

Local Philippines is your travel buddy. We have information about the destinations, how to get there, what to do while in the area and more! Destinations in the beaches or in the mountains, destinations under water, destinations right at the middle of the urban hub, name it and Local Philippines will most likely feature it.

Local Philippines: Nothing Less in Batanes

If there is one place in the Philippines where you can experience a calm, serene, and idyllic vacation, it should be Batanes. Covering an area of 219.01 square kilometers, Batanes is the northernmost and the smallest province in the archipelago. Batanes may be small in size but it is big in natural resources. A patchwork of green fields, reeds, and stone houses brings tourists in this cozy paradise to another dimension.

Batanes, which is surrounded by bodies of water, can be reached through a one-hour-and-forty-five-minute plane ride from Manila. Fresh winds and cool breeze welcome visitors in the province, which is often described as a premier tourist destination in most Philippine travel guides. What separates Batanes from other island paradises in the archipelago is that it satisfies the most demanding travelers even without giant shopping malls, posh resorts, luxury hotels, sublime events, and hip bars.

Home to the great Ivatans, Batanes is composed of ten islands and is subdivided into six municipalities. Its tourism industry is buoyed by natural features such as a subtropical climate, magnificent landscapes and seascapes, and rich cultural heritage. Here is a sampling of what to do and see in Batanes.

House of Dakay
The stone houses of Batanes are surely a visual treat for tourists. The most photographed and frequently visited of them is the House of Dakay, which was built in the 18th century. Located in San Jose de Ivana, this fabled house survived a strong earthquake that leveled the entire town. It has been declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Building. House of Dakay is currently occupied by an 82-year-old woman who is fondly called Lola Ida.

Mt. Iraya
Mt. Iraya is an active volcano situated on Batan Island. At 1,900 feet above sea level, the mountain houses a spring water where the town gets its drinking water. Expert climbers said Mt. Iraya is perfect for hikers and wannabe mountain adventurers. It is home to the Batanes pit viper, an arboreal snake that it endemic to the province, and to dozens of exotic fauna and flora.

Ruins of Song-Song
Another must-see attraction in Batanes in the Ruins of Song-Song. These are the remains of a village in the town of Uyugan after a tidal wave out an entire community in 1954. The group of destroyed lime and stone houses is located just several meters from the Song-Song beach, which is comparable to other great beaches in Luzon and those in Visayas and Mindanao.

Sabtang Island
A common travel tip to Batanes visitors is not to forget a trip to Sabtang Island. It has unspoiled white-sand beaches, steep mountains, and deep canyons, making it one of the 12 Best Destinations in the Philippines as recommended by the Department in Tourism in 1994. This beautiful island southwest of Batan can be reached by a 30-minute boat ride from Radiwan Port in Ivana.

Basco Cathedral
Built in 1783, the Church of Sto. Domingo de Basco is the oldest and the most important church in Batanes. The church, locally known as Basco Cathedral, is designed to withstand strong typhoons and earthquakes. It is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception, the municipality's patroness.

Other notable travel destinations in Batanes are Di-atay Beach in Mahatao, Chewa Cave, the Sumhao Wind Turbines, and San Jose Church. Aside from sightseeing, tourist can also do trekking in the Marlboro and Naidi Hills and surfing at Madiwedved in Mahatao.

Local Philippines is your travel buddy. We have information about the destinations, how to get there, what to do while in the area and more! Destinations in the beaches or in the mountains, destinations under water, destinations right at the middle of the urban hub, name it and Local Philippines will most likely feature it.

Laguna Philippines Resorts

where is the most cheapest but real fine hotspring resort in laguna philippines and where is it located?

how to get there from metro manila? how much will you spend for a detour trip for two?

Crystal Springs: National Highway, Barangay (Neighborhood) Pansol, Municipality of Calamba, Province of Laguna, Philippines.

Though personally, I'd recommend you to try Lake Caliraya resorts instead. Lake Caliraya is a manmade lake high on top of the mountains. It has superb views of the Pacific Ocean and some nearby Philippine islands. It is considered the Windsurfing and Bass Fishing capital of the Philippines, and regularly attracts Filipino as well as foreign clientele. There are a lot of excellent resorts here, especially the Lagos del Sol Resort, which is also an international convention center. Lagos del Sol Resort is a very large resort situated on several hills and is right smack on the lakeshore. It is in Barangay (Neigborhood) Kanluran Talaongan, Municipality of Cavinti, Province of Laguna, Philippines. Nearby attractions from here is Lake Lumot,a nearby lake, Municipality of Lucban, "the poor man's Baguio", and the Municipality of Infanta in Quezon province, infamous for landslides caused by three adjoining supertyphoons during 2004, which killed thousands of people. Infanta itself is a port on the Pacific Ocean, and serves several islands in the Pacific.

Directions:
Take the LRT to Manila City Hall/Central station and walk to the "Park-n'-Ride: Lawton Station". There are lots of buses there going to Calamba. Should you decide to go to Lake Caliraya, go down in Calamba, then ride a bus labeled "Sta. Cruz" or "Pagsanjan". From those two towns, just ask the people there about the jeepney going to Lake Caliraya (there is no bus passing by the lake".

Cheap Philippines Flights

I am part of a missionary group that does a lot of work in the Philippines. Where can I get cheapest flights?

We travel there multiple times throughout the year. This specific trip will be December 28th to January 19th. Does anyone have a consolidator they can give me the number to? I would be very grateful if you could help me find some cheap flights. For more information on our ministry, check out www.thefrontline.asia. Thanks so much for any information!

Philippine Airline sometimes has cheaper airfare compared to their peers as the service is not as good. If you are all leaving from the same city, then maybe the airline will give you a group rate depending the number of people flying. You can try a travel agency as well. Whenever I fly into Asia, I go through an Asian travel agency because they can get a good deal on tickets.

Diving Packages

Scuba Diving and where I start?

I have been looking into scuba diving lately and I really believe this would make a great career. I am 19 and need to set up a career. I found some schools that sound awesome but they say I have to have a PADI Rescue license. I am not sure where or how I get one. I was looking to take out a loan for the package. I need the PADI Rescue license, 60 logged dives, and Current CPR/First Aid Credential. Where Do I start. I live in Indiana, looking to move to Florida. Would I need to take out a loan to just get started with that? I want to get started with a career and this sounds awesome!

Well, you are jumping the gun here. What type of career in scuba diving do you want? Commercial diving is pretty dangerous, and you are away from home all the time.

If you want to be an instructor, you need alot more experience and alot more classes. Plus, it's pretty competitive to get into. Most dive instructors work other jobs as well.

But as far as getting your certifications, call up local dive shops (or sporting goods stores) and ask about their certification programs. Visit the PADI website and see a list of certified instructors in your area. Certification will only cost you about $200, plus equipment usage or purchase. You don't need to take out a loan for it.

The Rescue license will require additional classes, which may cost more. But you have to start with your basic certification, and it gives you the chance to see if you even enjoy it first.
