Boracay Beach Resort

Making a Memorable Trip by Staying in an Affordable Boracay Beach Resort

If you want to make the best out of your vacation in Boracay, it is important that you try out the different activities that will leave a mark. But because the many activities that can be done on the island are expensive, it is recommended whether you want to get a Boracay beach resort accommodation that is reasonably priced or to go further than that.

The advantage of staying in the luxury hotels in Boracay is that they will pamper you. These are the hotels for the rich and the fabulous. The staff will spoil you and make you feel like you are royalty. However, these hotels will cost you huge. Instead of choosing to pay for such treatment, just save your money on your accommodation so you can try out the different activities that the island has to offer.

You can choose to stay in one of the many reasonably priced hotels in Boracay that can be found just about anywhere. This is a good suggestion because they will not charge you with such a high rate. In fact, you can get a good accommodation for as low as $20 a night. You might even get lucky and find a much cheaper accommodation. Never take these hotels for granted because they can make your stay a memorable one, just like the luxury hotels.

Instead of paying for the fine treatment that a luxury Boracay beach resort will give you, you can use this money to pay for the many activities that you can find on the island. This will give you a taste of what Boracay truly is. Since you are looking for an adventure of a lifetime, it is recommended that you splurge on the different activities offered by the island.

However, when it comes to choosing from the reasonably priced hotels in Boracay, you have to be wary about making your selection. You need to choose a hotel that will provide you quality service at an affordable rate. This means you need to look for an accommodation that provides comfortable beds, clean showers, and most importantly, a safe and secured location. This is because you will be leaving your belongings while you go out. You have to make sure that when you return, they will still be there.

The good thing about this is that you can easily find an affordable Boracay beach resort. All you need to do is go online and make a search. After you have found the different options that are available to you, make sure you go through every information they provide on the internet, if any. Look at the pictures of their rooms as well as their surroundings. Check out their address and map out if this is near a secure neighborhood. By doing this, you can save on your Boracay beach resort accommodation and still get to enjoy the best that the island has to offer!

Clark Philippines offers attractive investment opportunities in hospitality, residential and tourism sectors

Yats International is itself an stakeholder in Clark Philippines owning and operating several establishments in the hospitality industry.  Yats has worked with local and foreign investors to successfully establish businesses inside Clark Freeport Zone.  Here are some of the most attractive investment opportunities:

Residential House and Lots

There is a 22000 sq meter (2.2 hectare) lot located adjacent to the beautiful Clearwater Resort and Country Club available for a 40-year long lease.  With a full view of the 2.5-hectare lake of Clearwater Resort, this is a very attractive property for residential development, a subdivision of housing lots.  Estimated price for the land is US$2.8 Million.

Mixed-used Condominium/Office medium-rise building

Apartments and condominiums are peculiarly absent in Clark Freeport.  Most residents of Clark are forced to make do with villas and townhouses, even if they really require something simple such as a one- or two-bedroom 60-100sm apartment/condo.  Although Clark Philippines was more of a travel, tourism and recreational destination in the past, the emergence of large businesses such as Texas Instruments, Samsung and a number of large BPO centers as well as new casinos and hotels, has led to an acute shortage of apartment units.  There is a 30000 sq meter (3 hectare) property located in Clark's central business district, actually neighboring Texas Instruments, available for sale (long lease).  Business activities approved for this property include leisure and tourism projects, resident, low- and medium-rise structures for mix-used including light industry and warehouses aside from residential and vacation homes.  Estimate price for the land is US$3 Million.

Hospitality

With new golf courses springing up in and around Clark Philippines and an ever-increasing patronage by tourists from neighboring South Korea, Clark Freeport is short on hotel accommodation.   A very interesting property has just become available for purchase.  It is a garden-styled restaurant that was built on 3000 sq meters of land.  The property has excess land sufficient in size to build a 20- to 40-room "inn".  It is located near Clearwater Resort & Country Club within Clark Freeport's Central Business District.  Estimated price for the land plus improvements is US$550,000.

Golf Course Development

Even with the addition of 27 holes in 2009 and 2010, there is an acute shortage golf tee times for at least 5-6 months each year.  Local players compete with frustrated (golf) tourists from Korea and China for tee times.  Unfortunately Clark Philippines doesn't have the luxury of vast tracts of land suitable for this type of development.  However there is a 93-hectare property within 30-minutes of Clark Freeport in neighboring city of Magalang, Pampanga (adjacent to Angeles City) that was slated for golf course development.  The development can acquire a small property inside Clark Freeport to shuttle tourists from Clark to Magalang.   The property lies on the foothills of the majestic Mount Arayat with a full view of Clark and the entire San Fernando valley, quite breathtaking.   This is a free-hold property with commercial titles.  Estimated price for this land is US$10 Million.

Small-to-Medium Sized Investments

There are numerous opportunities for investments between US$100,000 and $500,000.  These opportunities are especially attractive for semi-retirement lifestyles.  The best, easiest and safest way to go about with this kind of investments is to deal with an existing business – a locator as business in Clark is called – so the investor is spared of the hassle of dealing with red-tape and bureaucracy that is always present in third-world countries.  The existing locator has already cleared the path so to speak and even if it means asking for small premium for a partnership, it is very much worth the while of a new investor to take this route.  Business opportunities depend largely on the skills, interests and experiences of the investors but there is a strong demand for more establishments in these areas: entertainment, shops, office space, construction and engineering services, restaurants and bars, transportation and travel assistance.

Holiday Travel - Making Plans Can Help Save You Money

When you make good plans for your holiday trip, you will end up saving more. Spending less does not mean you have to compromise on the quality of your trip. You can still enjoy a high quality vacation while you save. When you go on a luxurious vacation, be prepared to shell out premium price. Here is how you can go about planning for your trip.

First, be clear about why you are traveling. Are you going there for business? Or do you want to go sight seeing? Remember, different strokes for different people. Spare a thought for your travel companions, and think about what they want. Always communicate with your travel companions to avoid misunderstandings. Reconcile your travel goals as much as you can.

It's easier to work out the rest of the details when you have clear goals. For instance, if you are traveling to Bali to golf, then focus more your golf plans. Find travel companions with similar goals. What equipment will you need? Then figure out how much time you need for each activity. You can mix your activities if you like to make the trip more interesting.

Of course, the best travel plans always have a wide variety of activities. For instance, after scuba diving, you can always plan for a relaxing evening reading at the cafe. When you have your days filled with fun and relaxing activities, your trip will be an enjoyable and memorable one.

In sum, make sure that your plan works in your favor. Don't set yourself up for more stress. Distractions are abundant, so you must be careful not to let them spoil your vacation. Just focus on enjoying the trip. Having some peaceful moments to yourself is rare and precious. Your travel plan will help you achieve that.

Once you have made up your mind to go on a luxury vacation, you will now have to pick a destination. Destinations differ in terms of facilities, scenery, and price. But there will be a place that will appeal to your own personal preferences.

When we talk about luxury vacations, we are referring to villas. We are not talking about resorts here. Villas are private dwellings with their very own facilities. They are highly exclusive and very peaceful. Of course, given such exclusivity, they cost a lot more. But in return, you get more space.

The most expensive destinations are those from developed countries. This is because real estate prices are high in such countries. Therefore, you can expect the prices of such villas to be two or three times more than villas in other destinations.

If price is a concern, then perhaps villas in the eastern part of the world such as Indonesia or the Philippines. You can expect prices to be very reasonable.

On top of that, you will also see sights that are more exotic and unusual. For instance, the people in Asian villas dress in traditional costumes that you may have never seen before. Luxury villas in destinations such as Bali are renowned for their exotic feel. Even the surroundings may be a breath of fresh air. For ultimate luxury, try staying in a super large 5 room villa!

So who says you have to spend a fortune to enjoy luxury holidays? Just spend a little more time looking around. If Asian destinations don't suit you, try Australia or New Zealand.

Dakak Beach Resort Philippines

Hi , can anybody give me nice names off places to stay on Dakak beach in Dapitan city not Dakak beach resort

I wanna spend some time on Dakak beach (Dapitan city-Philippines) and would like to find nice and affortable room there . Can anybody give me some names off places to stay. Not dakak beach resort. I checked that allready , its very nice but expancive. Any other places near Dakak Beach , Thx a lot

Dakak beach is owned by Dakak Beach Resort. It is located in a cove so there are no other resorts there. I have stayed there and what I like about it is the cleanliness of the beach and the resort.
What you can do is stay in a Pension house in Dapitan City and visit Dakak during the day. Dapitan city is roughly about 20-30 minutes from Dakak. There are several places to stay in the city. I highly recommend Villa Pilar Pension House which is owned by a distant aunt. It is very clean and safe and the rates are very reasonable. They can help you to arrange the transportation to Dakak Beach Resort (which is owned by a close family friend).

Hotels In Manila Philippines

hotels in manila philippines"hotels in manila philippines"

Places to visit: Manila, Philippines

Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, bears a uniquely fused spirit that is both Asian and Spanish. Colonized by Spain in 1571, it was known as 'The Pearl of the Orient', the jewel of Spain's empire in the Pacific.

The country gained its independence after World War II. However, much of the city was destroyed, and it never managed to rebuild itself or reclaim its regional importance and identity. Present-day Metro Manila is a conglomeration of 17 cities and municipalities--a "mega-city" offering a blend of cultures.

It is hard to determine exactly what Manila is. It is an amalgamation of contrasts: extreme wealth and poverty, sidewalk vendors and civilized shopping malls and bustling chaos and peaceful greenery.

The city of Manila houses numerous landmarks, parks and open spaces, museums, shopping centers, as well as abundant nightlife. At the heart of the city lies Intramuros, where forts and dungeons, old churches and colonial houses can be found.

Getting around Manila

Like many Asian cities, Manila faces a great deal of traffic congestion that leaves you in a quagmire during rush hour or rain. Fortunately, transport is fairly cheap, including the taxis.

Local Jeepneys (brightly colored converted Jeeps used as minibuses) are a popular form of transport and can be hailed anywhere. They are cheap, plentiful and best suited to shorter journeys. Local buses are useful to get to places on the main roads as they are prohibited from most streets in the center of town. Like Jeepneys, buses have their destinations indicated on signboards.

The elevated light rail system (LRT) and the Metrostar have helped to alleviate some of the congestion. They are an excellent way to soar past traffic but are normally packed during rush hour.

In sections of Manila you can find Kalesas (horse-drawn carriages) that plod through the traffic, carrying passengers and goods. Tricycles (motorcycles with side cars) and pedicabs (bicycles with side cars) are also for hire, servicing narrow roads and inner-city alleys.

Don't miss…

Manila is just as alive during the day as it is at night, and you will never run out of things to see and do. Here are some highlights:

Intramuros

Within Intramuros is a fort built by the Spaniards when they colonized Manila. The fort walls were twenty feet high and over a mile in length, protecting several rich mansions, churches, and schools. Unfortunately, the fort was destroyed during World War II, but a strong sense of history still remains.

Much of Intramuros has been rebuilt and proves to be an interesting attraction for visitors. Here you will find the Casa Manila, The Manila Cathedral, and the Rizal Shrine Museum.

Quiapo and Chinatown

Chinatown is the center of the vibrant Chinese community, where the locals venture for a taste of true mainland delicacies. Walk along Ongpin Street where you'll find dozens of goldsmiths, herbalists, teahouses and shops, incense, trinkets etc. Venture out to the nearby backstreets of Quiapo and visit the Quiapo Church, one of the most famous churches in Manila (also known as the Church of the Black Nazarene). Built in 1582, it has amazingly withstood earthquakes, riots, rebellions and the war. The church houses a statue of Christ that is believed to have miraculous powers, attracting hoards of visitors.

Coconut Palace

Under the Marcos regime, the Coconut Palace was built for Pope John Paul's visit in 1981. However, he declined to stay, snubbing it as too pretentious and flamboyant. The Coconut Palace is now effectively a museum, which is almost entirely made from palm wood and coconut fiber. Some of the highlights include the 101 coconut shell chandelier and the dining table made of 40,000 tiny pieces of inlaid coconut shells.

Malate

The popular district of Malate showcases a wide variety of hotels, restaurants, clubs, bars, cafes, art and antique shops. The nightlife offers everything from cultural shows to discotheques, cozy jazz bars, entertainment lounges, and fashionable cafes.

The clash of local ingredients with the palates of conquering Spaniards left Filipino food with an unambiguous emphasis on meat. Filipino food is served in almost every restaurant in town. Local dishes include liempo (steamed spare ribs), lechon (spit-fire roasted pork), kare-kare (a stew with peanut sauce and ground toasted rice) and, if you can stomach it, balut (fertilized duck embryo steamed and served in the shell). For something sweeter try halo-halo, a drink of ice, sweet beans, fruit and condensed milk, topped with ice cream. You can find all types of cuisine in Manila. A few favorites include:

La Cocina de Tita Moning

315 San Rafael St., San Miguel, Manila

As you enter the gates of this old mansion, you walk into an actual ancestral home, filled with priceless works of art and memorabilia. You are welcomed with drinks on the patio, before being given a mini-tour of the place. Dishes are served on antique china, glassware and silverware. Select from a choice of old world recipes handed down from generations and served in a classic way, or those with a modern twist. A particular favorite is the paella and bread pudding.

Sala

Podium Level, Locsin Bldg., 6752 Ayala Ave. cor. Makati Ave, Makati

A refined and contemporary European bistro, featuring fusion dishes with an emphasis on simple mains seasoned creatively with organic herbs. Offerings include sesame crusted seared tuna with crispy Asian coleslaw, porcini mushroom risotto cake with brie and roast tomato, and beef tenderloin with horseradish mash and red pepper chutney.

Shang Palace

Ayala Avenue at Makati Avenue, Makati City

A restaurant that is renowned for its elegant ambience, unique furnishings of wooden latticework, glittering Swarovski chandeliers and intimate fuchsia dining booths. It has often been described as the best Cantonese in Manila. Try out specials such as the chilled sliced pork with spicy garlic sauce, sauteed prawn with orange sauce and sweet spare ribs in a clay pot.

Shopping

The tropical weather in Manila, combined with the facilities of its world-class malls, continue to attract Filipinos to the shopping malls. The biggest mall in the country is the SM Mall of Asia, which sits near Manila Bay. It has a skating rink, science discovery center, IMAX theater and many other attractions. There are also high-end shopping malls such as Shangri-La Plaza, The Podium Ortigas Center, and Glorietta Mall, where you can find designer goods and accessories.

Venturing beyond the shopping malls you can head to the markets, where bargaining will be a major part of your shopping experience. Visitors often return from the markets laden with mirrors, lace, capiz-shell lanterns, and hand-carved trinkets. Every district in the city, with the exception of Port Area, has its own public market. Bargains are easily found in mass market malls such as SM or Market!Market! More adventurous shoppers interested in serious haggling can head for a flea market (known as tiangge), such as Divisoria, 168 Mall or Greenhills. Bear in mind, that you may need a well-trained eye to spot fakes.

Tutuban Center in Divisoria offers more comfort as an air-conditioned mall, but prices of goods are still very similar to those bought outside. In Quiapo, a unique spot is the marketplace under the bridge, which sells original Filipino crafts and delicacies. Also in Quiapo, Hidalgo Street is the place to come for inexpensive camera equipment and accessories.

Outsourcing Alternatives to a Politically and Economically Unstable India

Outsourcing: A love / hate relationship for U.S. I.T. professionals.  Ask the average employee in any I.T. organization, and hearing about fear of jobs going to India and China is almost unavoidable.  Although many have started the move toward business service management (BSM) to address the chaotic labor trends, I.T. labor itself still consumes over one-third of I.T. budgets.  This figure is perfectly in line with a recently published Gartner report stating that 37% of the typical I.T. budget goes directly to personnel costs.  What are you as the CIO going to do to manage this frenzied situation?  Is outsourcing, or “offshoring,” the answer?

How can you outsource your operations to a foreign country and still maintain compliance with best practice frameworks such as ITIL or MOF?  How do you maintain Sarbanes-Oxley, PCI, or HIPAA compliance when utilizing 100% offshore resources with far less control?

Almost everyone in the I.T. sector has at least one story about various operational tasks being “offshored” to India, and no call-center, network operations center (NOC), or infrastructure team has been immune to rumors of jobs going offshore.  No longer are the cities of Mumbai and Delhi simple manufacturing hubs and suppliers of raw materials.  The country is home to some of the largest corporate call centers and development centers in the world.  In late 2005, the Indian outsourcing workforce numbered 350,000 individuals.  That total is now estimated at well over 800,000, with many new positions going unfilled due to the lack of qualified candidates.

Eleven years ago this month, USA Today published an article titled “Can political instability be eliminated in India?”  Looking solely at the news of the past six months, the answer to that question is an obvious NO.

The trend toward a twenty-first century India has not fostered the sort of sweeping political change one might expect from the world’s most populous democracy.  Moreover, the unwillingness of the Indian government to more robustly combat intellectual property theft is the stuff that causes your legal team to lose MANY nights of sleep.

Recession has made its way to India as well.  The 4 December 2008 issue of The New York Times ran an article discussing the wave of outsourcing firms scaling back their daily operations in India due to the unhealthy global financial climate.  As of this week, the Indian rupee is at a record low.

India makes a strong case as the “global back office,” yet it has failed to produce an environment supporting front-office operations such as product innovation and corporate strategies.  The prevailing thought of the past 5 years has been that Indian outsourcing firms are masterful in the art of efficiency and product development measures.  What about now?

On 7 January 2009, Indian stocks took a nosedive in the wake of announcements by Satyam Computer Services that corporate profit summaries had been inflated for several years.  The announcement by Satyam’s chairman and co-founder that he had directly falsified accounting documents on an ongoing basis has thrown the entire Indian outsourcing industry into dramatic turmoil.  As a provider of back-office services for many of the largest banks and healthcare institutions in the world, the result of the SATYAM crisis is nothing short of devastating.

By Friday, January 9, 2009 news sources were reporting that interim CEO Ram Mynampati does not have faith that the firm can continue past the next few weeks.  Mynampati stated they were working to find the liquidity to pay current employees, suppliers, and creditors.

In less than a week, the crisis has crossed the Pacific Ocean and hit U.S. shores.  Auditing giant PricewaterhouseCoopers is expected to pay a hefty price for the emerging fraud.  The auditor has been responsible for Satyam financial oversight for over eight years, and Satyam investors are expected to go to court in attempts to recoup losses. According to legal sources from within India, most are likely to attack PricewaterhouseCoopers directly rather than Satyam.

The tragic events of November 2008 in Mumbai clearly show that the concerns go much deeper. Over 200 people were killed in the attacks, and the entire central business district in Mumbai ground to a halt for several days, resulting in billions of dollars in lost labor.   Within one week of the attacks, five high-profile Indian cabinet members were forced to resign.  On 1 December, TIME magazine posed the question “Will India’s Government Survive the Mumbai Massacre?”

Many companies are selecting alternate destinations, and some trends show an actual migration OUT of India to other knowledge-rich environments such as Singapore, The Philippines, Armenia, Pakistan, and various Latin American countries.  Companies requiring less interaction with the public (for example, a software development center) may select destinations where English is not the primary language, or in some cases, is not a language spoken at all.  Companies building public-facing operations such as helpdesks or call centers are being forced to reconsider earlier decisions, and many are moving to more English-centric countries like Taiwan and the Philippines.

Key players are making a strong case for themselves as these trends develop.  In the Western Hemisphere, Costa Rica and Peru have marvelous records of rock-solid software development and high customer satisfaction ratings.  In Europe, Armenia is emerging as a major powerhouse and model of efficiency.  In Asia, many are discovering that the almost-perfect English spoken in Taiwan and the Philippines combined with some labor costs equal to or less than those in India make each a destination of choice.  In fact, the November 30 edition of The New York Times Magazine featured a four-page article touting the viability of the Philippines as a premier outsourcing destination.

While China, Russia, and Korea have fantastic talent pools, the labor cost and in some cases difficulty dealing with local and national governments make them less attractive to some U.S. based companies.

While being one of the lesser-mentioned yet more historically colorful European countries, Armenia is a virtual strongbox of extraordinary talent.  As mentioned by the CIA World Factbook, 18% of Armenia’s current population is under the age of 15, meaning the talent pool is poised for huge growth.

Armenia declared independence from the former Soviet Union on 21 September, 1991 and is now a bastion of political stability (a particularly attractive factor for the O&O industry).  A healthy GDP real-growth rate of 13.7% makes Armenia one of the top producers in the EU.

Additionally, Armenia is rapidly becoming a major challenger in the index of relative economic freedom. As reported by the Heritage Foundation, the change has been nothing short of amazing. In 2000, Armenia ranked 84th in relative economic freedom. As of late 2008, Armenia ranked 28th – ahead of European powerhouses Spain (31st) and France (48th) and just behind Sweden at 27th.

Hong Kong ranked #1 on the list for 2008, with the U.S.A. at #5.

The appraisal of economic freedom is based on 50 economic indicators within the following categories: capital flow and foreign investment; financial systems; monetary, budget, and trade policies; salaries and prices; government interference in the economy; property rights and regulations; and black markets.

Many outsourcing experts are finding a presence in Armenia quite successful for many of their clients and partners.  The cooperation offered by the Armenian government to ease immigration and visa restrictions for executives and other technical employees traveling between Armenia and the United States has been a huge advantage to many, and this is compounded by great satisfaction with the talent pool offered by this European country.

Having a stable presence in Armenia is but one example of alternatives to the current Indian instability.  There are numerous other alternatives as well, and diversification is going to be the keystone to success over the next few years.

As pointed out by one CEO, “...the logical approach for today’s global economy is to diversify.  Many of my contacts who previously invested heavily in Indian resources are already asking for new alternatives, and we believe the best approach is to simply avoid the old cliché of “putting all the eggs in one basket.”

Singapore has emerged as another destination of choice, with an extremely stable economy and government as well as strictly enforced laws on intellectual property rights.  Perfect English is widely spoken, and the country is considered one of the top-five technical innovators in the world.

Originally founded as a British trading colony in 1818, Singapore joined the Malaysian federation for a short two years ending in 1965. Now completely independent, Singapore is undeniably one of the most prosperous, diverse, and cosmopolitan destinations in the world and has a per capita GDP greater than that of many “leaders” in Western Europe.

In 2006, the World Bank rated Singapore as “the most business-friendly economy in the world.”  Immediately behind London, New York, and Tokyo, Singapore is the fourth largest foreign exchange trading hub in the world.

The country is home to three major state universities:  The National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technological University and Singapore Management University, resulting in a literacy rate over 93%.  The island nation accomplishes it all with a geographic size only three times that of Washington, DC.

The Philippines and U.S.A. share not only a very similar legal system but the English language as well. Companies in the legal sector consider this fact especially attractive. Once a U.S. colony, the Philippines has a workforce that is already familiar with many legal factors not readily obvious to those in countries with less of a seasoned relationship with the United States.

A few facts about the Philippines:

  •  Population of 91,000,000 as of 2008
  •  550,000 college graduates per year on Average
  •  Educated labor pool of Over 30,000,000
  •  Entry-level I.T. salaries average $2500—$8000 USD P.A.
  •  Top-quality CBD real-estate costs average $17 PSF
  •  95% literacy rate
  •  English as a primary language

One of the top-three law firms in the world relocated their entire network operations center from Chicago to Fort Bonifacio, Manila, in 2003. That operation has since grown much larger, also encompassing legal operations and software development.

From 1997 to 2008, companies such as Citibank, Fluor, IBM, Convergys, Telus, HSBC, Dell, JP Morgan, Siemens, and Deutsche Bank have all opened major offshore facilities in the Metro Manila area of the Philippines.

More than just a country filled with call centers, the Philippines is home to dozens of offshore operations involving network operations, wireless services, energy, shipping and logistics, legal and medical transcription, finance and accounting, and software development.

The country is now recognized by some as the top destination of choice in Southeast Asia. In 2006, the country generated in excess of $3.0 billion in outsourced operations, and that figure is expected to more than double by the end of 2009. The Philippine government has targeted a global market share of 8 to 10% in the O&O market by 2011.

Regardless of where you go, there is no “single best answer” to every situation.  When looking for that “trusted advisor” to help you make your next outsourcing, offshoring, development, or infrastructure decision, you need a firm with the knowledge, process, devotion, and proven direction to make it a success.

Only by in-depth knowledge of your core business can any firm help in an effective O&O engagement. You need a firm that endeavors to understand and optimize how the process will enhance not only the I.T. department, but all other business units as well.

O&O will continue to gain momentum over the next few years, regardless of what happens in the Indian subcontinent.   The recent events in India and the surrounding territories are but a small stumbling-block to an ever-evolving global business model.

Businesses today realize that three very important factors have emerged in the outsourcing and offshoring industry:

  • O&O cannot and should not be based on the “one size fits all” methodology anymore.   Diversification is the key.
  • Every situation is different.
  • Unless you are prepared to invest in learning foreign tax and H/R systems, unfamiliar holidays, unique infrastructure, governmental regulations, and possibly a few foreign languages, you NEED a trusted advisor on your side.

Companies and their investors who spent the billions of dollars (and thousands of man-hours) building outsourced operations based solely in India have found that trying to separate the technology from the actual business process is not only foolish—it is futile.   Outsourcing and offshoring can provide limitless possibilities, but they must be done with precision , care, and proper distribution.  Rather than outright withdrawal from offshoring operations, now is the time for diversification.

“There is timing in the whole life of the warrior, in his thriving and declining, in his harmony and discord. Similarly, there is timing in the Way of the merchant, in the rise and fall of capital. All things entail rising and falling timing. You must be able to discern this..”

Beach Resorts In The Philippines

beach resorts in the philippines"beach resorts in the philippines"
what is the cheapest hotels or beach resorts in Cebu Philippines that has a pool at least?

The previous poster mentioned Villa Terisita. At P400 per night in a dorm room, it would be the cheapest place I know with a pool. In fact it has about 5 swimming pools. The main pool has a huge double water slide. It is a very pleasant place to go for the day for a picnic. It is in Talisay City and is about 30 minutes drive from the centre of Cebu City, depending on traffic. Standard rooms start at P800 per night for a double. The website is here
http://www.villateresitaresort.com/rates.php

Also in Talisay City is Aqua Cainta. I have no website but in 2004, it was about P600 per night for a small cottage. It is probably double that now. It has a triple water slide in the main pool and and is a pleasant place to go for the day for a picnic. You pass Aqua Cainta on the way to Villa Terisita.

Tubod Flowing waters was also mentioned. Prices start at P1200 per night for a double. It is situated in Minglanila and is up to an hour from the centre of Cebu City, depending on traffic. It is a water wonderland and a nice place to go for a picnic for the day. The main pool has a large double waterslide. The website is here
http://www.cebuspring.com/rate.html

In Cebu City

Mango Park Hotel has a promo rate of P1750 per night for a double. They have a pool on the roof.
http://www.mangoparkhotel.com/roomtype.htm

Metro Park Hotel has rooms as low as P1200 per night for a double. However, the website says the pool is under renovation until the end of March
http://metroparkhotelcebu.com/room-rates

If you want to get a good deal on resorts on Mactan island. try Asiatravel.com
http://asiatravel.com/cebu.html
I see that Tambuli is only usd $50 per night. It is a nice resort on Mactan Island and will probably be the best value for money resort available.

Denver Scuba Dive Vacations Start With Scuba Lessons And Diving Gear

Scuba diving is a great way to explore a lovely new location, and many people choose Denver scuba dive vacations for this purpose.  If you are ready to try something new and are looking for an adventurous time, you will want to start with scuba lessons.  Denver swimmers will also need appropriate Colorado scuba diving equipment, and with that, you will be ready for your underwater vacation.

A great place to start is with scuba lessons.  Denver residents can partake of a range of lessons, starting with a beginning introductory course and even working up to professional certification in diving.  Children at least eight years of age can also participate in such scuba lessons;  Denver families would then be able to scuba dive together on vacation.   After the beginner's class, you can work up to open water certification, where you will learn to be a safe and responsible diver.  If you already know how to scuba dive but need a refresher course or continuing education classes, these are also available and will help to further prepare you for great Denver scuba dive vacations.

Another aspect that will require your attention before your diving vacation is the selection of the appropriate Colorado scuba diving equipment.  Some people find that getting in and out of airports is easier if they simply rent equipment once they reach their destination, while others prefer using their own customized divers equipment.  Colorado divers in both instances will need assistance at first so they have all the appropriate Colorado scuba diving equipment at their disposal.  Some of the basics that you will need are masks, fins and snorkels, as well as regulators, BCDs and dive computers.  Your diving instructor can help you get started so that you will be outfitted with the suitable divers equipment.  Colorado swimmers can also rent equipment, so that each article can be tried out prior to taking it out on your Denver scuba dive vacations, in order to test out how each piece works for you and determine if you like it.  Armed with that information, you can make informed purchases of great diving gear.  Denver divers will also want to take into account that there are different sizes of diving gear.  Denver swimmers can select from equipment that is sized for larger or smaller swimmers, and get a great fit in diving gear.  Denver divers, after making purchases, will also want to make sure the equipment remains viable by having it serviced annually.

Colorado scuba diving equipment is sold by diving academies online for your convenience.

what are the best hotels in Bohol, Philippines?

what else is there to see in Bohol besides the chocolate hills? how are the beaches? thinking about going there next week!

I've been to Bohol many times and I love it there. If you are staying in Tagbilaran (the main city), stay in Metro Centre Hotel - prices are so reasonable and rooms are great. They have a swimming pool too.
If you are looking for a front beach resort, it's really wonderful in Alona Tropical Beach Resort in Panglao (food there is great too and big servings), do not get confused with Alona Kew Whitesand Beach Resort - it's the resort nearby it and not as good. The price at Alona Tropical is very very reasonable. It's the greatest place at the least price, you have to book at least a day or two in advance coz they are always full. The beaches in Panglao island are the best!
They have a whole island tour, you get to see a neat cave with clear water inside, bamboo hanging bridge, Tinago falls (looked like a faucet to me.lol), the chocolate hills like you said, man made forest, the statue of sanduguan, the oldest church, floating restaurant and of course THE TARSIERS!!!
Have fun!!! :)

Scuba Diving Boracay

Scuba Diving Locations

Scuba diving has long been a popular sport for travelers around the world. There is a certain excitement that comes with seeing the world as it is from beneath the ocean. The rich marine life and crystal clear water can make for an amazing vacation and one that will not be forgotten. Scuba diving will provide the thrill of a lifetime while also taking you to some of the most unique places on Earth.

Throughout the world there are several destinations which offer for great scuba diving. The Caribbean is one of these locations, and it is renowned for its diving. It's no surprise that all three of the following dives are located there.

First off, when you are a beginner, you need not worry because there are a lot of good beginner diving sites that you can go out to. Not only that but there are a lot of trainers that will help you in learning how to dive. There are also a lot of good equipment that you can use when you want to go out and experience how to dive. In Boracay, you can experience how it is to dive and you can be treated to a wonderful scenery even if the site is a beginner site. However, as you progress to learn the different skills that you need in scuba diving, you can be assured that if you want a more challenging dive site, there other places that you can go to.

Hawaii scuba diving presents an assortment of beautiful tropical fish and some of the most gorgeous coral formations all through the island chain, which makes it one of the best scuba diving locations as well. Maui or Kauai is an excellent way to take pleasure in the marine life of the islands. Operators, resorts, dive boats, and dive shops are on hand throughout Hawaii. The warm water dives amidst large green sea turtles, hundreds of brightly colored fishes, and sharks, adds to the excitement and thrill of every scuba dive.

One of the most popular and best scuba diving locations, Florida keys boasts of lovely coral formations, luxuriously warm gulf water, and of course the abundance of tropical fish. Florida also offers thousands of dive locations that offer limitless diving adventure and packed with quality diving stores, operators, and instructors that can assist one to discover the best of Florida scuba diving.

Did two dives here, off of the Coral Cay Beach. I do not know the names of the spots as I dove with a non-english speaking fisherman (not recommended). The water was great, 85 degrees year round, but visibility was only about 100 feet, but I think this was due to the rough water (about 6 foot swells).

This diving was the best "terrain diving" I have ever done. There was not a whole lot of fish life, but the walls and reefs were incredible. The first dive was on a wall going from 60 feet to 180 feet. There were some large eagle rays and schools of grouper, but what held my attention was the sheer magnitude of the walls. They were totally covered with reef life and there were beautiful colors everywhere. There were lots of ravines and caves to explore, and although the bottom of the wall was unreachable at 180 feet, you could see it at all times, which made the wall seem enormous in perspective.

Philippine Beach Resort

Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Jakarta?

I'll be arriving at Jakarta airport via Philippine Airlines and I have a connecting flight to Denpasar, Bali via Air Asia. Are these two airlines in the same terminal or do I have to transfer? How easy is it to get to my domestic flight (Air Asia) from my international flight (Philippine Airlines)?

I have an seven-hour layover. Can I go out of the airport to explore a bit? Is there anything to see close to the airport? Or is it better for me to stay in the airport? Are there things to do? I know I don't need a Visitor on Arrival visa. Assuming I'll have bags, is there depository/storage service in the airport short-term?

Do you have feedback on Kinds Villa Bintang, Nusa Dua? I heard the resort itself is good but the beach is not so nice. Thank you.
How far is this resort from the Denpasar airport?

1. International and domestic terminals are different and the whole airport is huge. I suppose you will need to ride the airport bus to transfer you to the other terminals. However, to ensure, just ask the nearest public information booth. International arrival is at Terminal 2, and domestic departure of Air Asia (if I'm not mistaken) is at Terminal 3.

2. Do not go out of the airport if you 'only' have 7 hours of transit. Soekarno-Hatta Int'l Airport is built quite far from the city center to avoid high rise buildings. You can explore the terminal lobby where there must be several restaurants and also internet cafe.

3. Not sure about the storage service because I always prefer to carry my bags everywhere.

My suggestion is, as soon as you arrive, directly seek the public information booth to find out where shall you go to check in for the Air Asia domestic ticket. Find out where you could ride a free bus transfer. After you reach the terminal where Air Asia is operating, look for the check-in counter to know that you're in the correct place. Then you could explore the surrounding lobby. Usually after the check-in counter, there are also some interesting stores inside the airport. Do check in at least 1.5 to 2 hours before the departure time.

You can check this worldtravelguide.net/airport, but I don't think the information is updated. Currently the airport has 3 terminals, instead of 2.

Thank you for visiting Indonesia.

Best Places to Travel

Best Places To Travel in The Philippine Islands

The Majestic Mount Kanlaon

A nice and relaxing way to spend a vacation is to travel. It depends on a person's trip on what he or she will do on his free time. But for me, I love to travel, it gives you that unexplained feeling of freedom and also an opportunity to experience an alternate or different culture. There are lots of places wherein you could spend your vacation which is very worth. In the Philippines Beaches and resorts are always present in places where you could spend your vacation. Below are the places in which will pass your standards on travel exclusively in the Philippines.

El Nido Palawan

A protected area and sanctuary with lots of beatiful beaches and rich historical culture, El Nido is located in Palawan. Plenty of wildlife and other marine reserves are available in this area and other diving spots. Coming in this place will give you a different sense of relaxation, as there are plenty of resorts also available which gives you high quality service. Best Summer Destination(El Nido Palawan)

A haven for mountain climbers who wanted to experience another chill in hiking, Mount Kanlaon is Located in Negros Oriental, somewhat boundary of Negros Occidental and Oriental, in Visayas Philippines. Mount Kanlaon was said to be extinct but it erupted I think in 1991, I was in Bacolod City when the Volcano erupted, the climate change and I think it rained for a week or so. Mount Kanlaon is now considered to be an active volcano, but although with its Mighty power, Mount Kanlaon Houses some exotic species in its vast rainforest.

Mt. Kanlaon is a majestic active volcano located in Negros Oriental in the Philippines. It is an attraction to tourists and other mountain climbing enthusiast. According to history, the name came from an hiligaynon goddess named Laon. Native priests believes that offering gifts to Laon will bring themgood harvest. Kanlaon stands 2,435 meters and a diameter of 30 km and is abundant with pyroclastic and craters. Mount Kanlaon has many hot springs, and one is located in mambukal resort.

Wildlife is lushing th the forest of Mt. Kanlaon. Mt. Kanla-on National Park is the home of abundant species of birds including the rare and only seen in the area, hornbill, parakeets, and even migratory birds from northern part of Asia. Monitor lizards scramble over fallen logs and Draco the "flying" lizard might sweep overhead. Although there are several harmless species of snakes which are very rare on encounters, caution must be a primaty thing to do.

At the top, panoramic scenes of rock walls and cliffs cover of the forest, beside the Margaha Valley's cogon grass and shrub-covered floor. Mornings are late and the evenings are early in the Valley. Patches of greens, yellows, olives, and tans from agricultural lands below are cut by the sea with formations of clouds hugging the horizon.

The second deadliest snake in the world which I think was featured in National Geographic Channel, the Philippine Pit Viper can also be found here. Other species of monkeys and birds, orchids and other plants can also be found here. In the foot of Mount Kanlaon Hot Springs are abundant, In Murcia Negros Occidental can be found a well known resort, Mambukal resort, Its a haven of tourists who wanted to have a light hiking in falls within the range of Mount Kanlaon itself.

Boracay Island

If your planning to relax and dip into the cool beaches, Aklan province in the Philippines offers a relaxing beach heads in the shores of Boracay Island, 3 hour trip from Iloilo City to Aklan takes you to an enticing and paradise like beach of Boracay. With the gleaming white sand and clear waters. Boracay Island might be your next destination.

How early do I have to be at Manila's airport before my flight if I'm heading to the USA?

I'm from the United States, and I've been on vacation here in the Philippines for a about a month. My flight is in two days. I've been hearing stories of numerous countries with passengers who have to be at the airport for more than the usual two hours prior. One even had a six hour requirement. I'm not sure about Manila, but I'm aiming at 3 to 4 hours before just in case. If any of you have any good tips, that would be great!

It depends on the season. During peak seasons( holidays) try to be there 4 hours before.

In your case, 3 hours should be enough.

Traffic is usually congested in the Metro Manila region.

Philippine Village Hotel

The Beautiful City of Baguio Philippines

One of the cleanest and greenest cities in the country, Baguio is made for sightseeing. And for strolls and boat rides and gentle trots around the park. And for golf. Kennon Road, completed in 1905, opened Baguio to tourism.

The zigzagging path previews the scenic highlights of the city. Along the 32-kilometer highway are the Bridal Veil and Colorado waterfalls. Synonymous with Baguio is Burnham Park. Located in the heart of the city, the park's features include a man-made lagoon ideal for boat rides, a skating rink, an athletic field and stadium, basketball and tennis courts, a biking zone, tree-and-flower lined promenades, and a plant market.

A popular golfing destination, the city takes pride in its Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay. What used to be the rest-and-recreation base of American military personnel, the Camp is being transformed into a world-class resort and is also Baguio's biggest pine tree conservation area. Its newly refurbished 18-hole golf course rivals that of the Country Club which has pretty garden-patched cottages surrounding its fairways.

Ornate iron gates open to the Mansion House, the official summer residence of Philippine presidents. It offers tourists with great photo opportunities with its rectangular reflecting pool along a tree-lined walkway. It also houses a museum of presidential memorabilia. Near the Mansion House is Wright Park where neophyte riders can trot around an oval track guided by trainers who lead horses with a hand-held leash. At the Mines View Park, tourists can have a panoramic view of the old mines of Benguet. At the park entrance is a flea market for souvenir items.

Sitting on top of a hill in Upper Session Road is the twin-spire Baguio Cathedral, a city landmark. Another pilgrimage site is the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes which sits on top of Dominican Hill. Devotees prefer to climb the 252-step ascent than drive through a winding road to reach the shrine. Bell Church holds a religious service of mixed Buddhist, Taoist, Confucian and Christian dogmas but tourists come here to have their fortunes told.

Located on an elevated pine-forested ground is the Philippine Military Academy, the country's foremost military learning institution. Its Saturday morning Parade in Review by cadets in full regalia never fails to attract visitors. Also within campus is a Military Museum. A cultural haven established by noted Baguio artist BenCab, Tam-awan Village recreates a typical ethnic village in the Cordilleras with authentic tribal homes uprooted from their original locations and re-set on similar terrain. There is also an art gallery-cum-coffee shop.

It has been said that there is only one kind of lucrative business in Baguio, and that is dining. This, of course, is overly exaggerated but then who can question this wisdom with the proliferation of food places offering all kinds of eats in this tiny city!

Star Cafe along Lower Session Road is noted for its excellent breads and pies and fine Chinese cuisine while the adjoining Dainty Restaurant has the best coffee in town and good noodles, too. For really great old-fashioned breakfasts, check out Casa Vallejo at the Upper Session Road. New Bonuan at the Happy Glen Loop, Jade Restaurant along Marcos Highway and Barrio Fiesta at the Upper Session Road are where you can partake of home-cooked native cooking.

Kalapaw Restaurant in Chuntug Street specializes in grilled squids and tuna jaws. Inn Rocio in Kisad Road dishes out Continental food, Mario's Restaurant in Upper Session Road has good steaks, great Caesar's Salad, and decadent cakes. And the artsy Cafe by the Ruins in Chuntug Street serves eclectic, seasonal dishes.

At the Hotel Monticello in Kennon Road, Hakuun Sanso Restaurant serves authentic Japanese cuisine while 50's Diner specializes in traditional American staples. Rose Bowl Steak House and Restaurant in Harrison Road offers an international fare of Chinese, American and Filipino dishes. The local food chain Don Henrico's has its beginnings at the Upper Session Road and serves yummy pastas and pizzas. (Source: The Philippine Department of Tourism)

Scuba Diving In Philippines

scuba diving in philippines"scuba diving in philippines"
Where are the best snorkeling sites in the Visayas, Philippines?

My girl and I are going to be in the Philippines in July. We'll be contending with the rainy season, but we're hoping to do a lot of snorkeling (NOT scuba diving) when the sun comes out. Where are the best places to snorkel in the Visaya islands?

Apo Island, Moalboal Cebu, Bohol and many many more.

Mactan is not a good place to snorkel the water is very unhealthy.

Have you ever thought of doing SCUBA? You can take a short class called Resort Dive via PADI and do a simple safe dive in less than 5m of water.

Davao Philippines Tourism

davao philippines tourism"davao philippines tourism"
what are some other great places to stay in the philippines besides davao?

I went to Davao last august and had the best trip ever, I am going to come back in a couple months but was wondering where else I should look and why? I thought about Manila, Cebu, Palawan, Boracay, and Bohol, but are there any other hidden gems that I wont get caught up in the tourism, I really liked that most about Davao, I never ran into another American the whole trip and really got a good feel for filipino culture and would like to do that again. Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing you'd prefer the hotter parts of the country (as opposed to the colder ones, like up in the mountains) so I suggest El Nido, Palawan. I remember when I was younger my parents took me there. We stayed in a resort called Miniloc Island Resort. It's situated in this large beautiful island cove surrounded by a cliff where, at times, you'll see monkeys roaming around. They're safe, just don't feed them. The beach front is safe too as they keep it netted. You also have access to kayaks which you can use to explore the other coves near the area. Just be careful. I remember we also had lunch one afternoon in a nearby island away from the resort, which was just amazing (there's just something about eating by the beach after a nice swim). It was one of the best places I had ever been to. It's a getaway type of place, so if you'd rather be closer to land, you can try Bohol. One of the better beaches there is in Panglao. But it's more touristy and might be a bit more expensive. If it is, then you can look around in other beaches. There you can tour the island, see the "jewel of the Philippines," the Chocolate Hills, have a lunch cruise along the river and see their famous tarsier. And while there, go and visit the famous Bohol Bee Farm and have lunch or dinner there. As a matter of fact, why not spend a night there too. That place is amazing. When I first came there, I thought it was a resort that came straight out of Discovery Travel and Living. They grow their own vegetables so everything's organic. I think Bohol would be a fun place to visit if you've never been there.
There are a bunch of other places you can see, like Vigan, where you can see the old Spanish town; or Batanes, which many have said to be like a whole different place apart from the Philippines. As for Manila, it's just too busy and too metropolitan. I doubt you'd enjoy it as much unless you'd want to explore the city. Boracay too is way too touristy already. You're better off going to the beaches I suggested.
Now if you're on a budget you can try looking at Virtual Tourist. It's a website that uses other tourists' personal info on places they've been to and stayed at. You can find everything there too actually. You can also google images the places just to see what's in store for you. I hope this helps. Enjoy!

PS
I've put down some websites under sources that might help you with your decision making.

3 Hot Philippines Travel Tips

When traveling to any other country, may it be the Philippines or Holland or Zimbabwe, you're sure to come across all kinds of hassles and obstacles that could give you a pressing headache and make you wish that you're back at home sweet home. But it's really not necessary to go all through that with the right amount of preparation and research. When traveling to another country, you should always expect the unexpected and make sure you have a contingency plan for each situation you might find yourself in. And in your trip to the Philippines, here are a few suggestions you could take to make your trip to the Philippines hassle free.

Philippine Travel Tip #1 - Weather This, Weather That
When you're in Dubai, you're sure to expect extreme heat during the day and extreme cold during the night. In the Philippines, however, there are no extremities in temperature to watch out for. If you're going to travel to the Philippines between the months of March till May, be sure to bring lots of light clothes because it's the hot and dry season. During the months of June till October, it's the rainy season that would greet you on your Philippine travel. Lastly, the months of November till February are possibly the best times of the year to travel in the Philippines because it's cool but dry. But to be more specific, if you want your trip to the Philippines unmarred by the occasional typhoon, set your travel date between the middle of December till mid-May.

Philippine Travel Tip #2 - Everything's Within A Call Away?
Manila, the capital city of the Philippines, is also dubbed as the texting capital of the world because everyone, and I do mean everyone, has got a cellphone - or two! - in their name. That's why if you're lost, you need not worry about looking for the nearest public phone because cellphones are able to work in almost all places in the Philippines. Quite a convenient thing for anyone traveling, isn't it?

Philippine Travel Tip #3 - Party Time!
One of the most unique and enjoyable experiences you could have when you travel to the Philippines is being part of the fiesta season. The whole town or city usually participates in a fiesta and each and every house is open to all, natives and foreigners alike. Filipino delicacies are prepared in each household and colorful banners are hung everywhere so that you'd know when there's a fiesta going on. You could also try participating in one of the native games that's usually played like climbing a tree slick with oil or being blindfolded and try hitting the "palayok" or pot filled with candies and coins for children.

Watching Manny Pacquiao train in the Philippines

The next time somebody says that it’s a small world please ignore him. Take it from me, having just done a whirlwind tour to the Philippines, then to New York, followed by a trip to Tampa, it’s still a very big world.

I recently visited the training camps of both pound-for-pound champion Manny Pacquiao in the Philippines, and WBO titleholder champion Miguel Cotto in Florida. Since my first visit was to Baguio in the northern part of Luzon, where Manny is training, I will tell you about my impressions of Manny’s preparations in this article. In my next column, I’ll do the same about Miguel’s training base in Tampa.

To get to Baguio, one must first fly to Manila, the country’s capital. Philippine Airlines has a regular daily flight direct to Manila that includes a one-hour stop in Vancouver, Canada. Its rates are reasonable and the service is excellent.

The plane arrives in Manila at approximately 5 a.m., and the drive to Baguio takes four to five hours, depending on traffic. Only part of the drive is on a regular highway, after which the road continues through one small town after another with traffic moving very slowly. About one hour before arriving in Baguio, the scenery becomes spectacular. Green mountains and valley vistas highlight beautiful scenic views of the China Sea.

Baguio itself is a mountain town 5,000 feet above sea level. It was built by the United States after taking control of the Philippines from Spain after the Spanish American War. Our government constructed Camp John Hay, a beautiful recreational area with huge pine trees, a great golf course and other amenities. It served as a rest and recreation area for U.S. servicemen in Asia until 1990, when it was transferred to the Filipino government.

Camp John Hay now houses the Manor, a luxury hotel constructed entirely from Canadian logs. This is a very popular summer vacation resort for the Manila elite. Freddie Roach, Manny’s trainer and Alex Ariza, his conditioning guru, were both ensconced at the Manor when I arrived.

Pacquiao, on the other hand, chose to stay in a hotel in town which housed the gym in which he was training. If Freddie’s hotel rated five stars, which it does, Manny’s hotel was so awful it would not even get one star. If there was a minus category, it would rate a minus five. But there is no accounting for taste. Manny was happy as a clam at his hotel and refused constant requests to move to the more luxurious Manor Hotel where the rest of us stayed.

The gym that Manny trained in was not much different from the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California, so I could see right away why Manny and Freddie felt so comfortable training there. The residents of Baguio respected the rules with regards to private workouts, enabling Manny to train in relative solitude. On the other hand, the morning runs were quite different. Manny would start at five in the morning and soon, hundreds of runners would materialize out of the darkness and run with Manny up and down the hills and roads. It was quite a scene.

Manny’s workout at the gym can only be described as awesome. In more than 40 years as a boxing promoter, working with Hall of Fame fighters like Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, Marvin Hagler, and Roberto Duran, I’ve never anything like it. His training sessions go on for about four hours without a break. After the usual warming-up exercises, Manny boxes most days with two or more sparring partners, then hits the mitts with Freddie for at least 10 more rounds.

This display of energy and stamina exhausts anyone watching, Manny doesn’t stop. He skips rope and works the heavy and light bags continuously for more than an hour. Only then does Manny finally stand still, which allows his Filipino trainer Buboy Fernandez to pound his midsection with a bamboo pole for about twenty more minutes. The brutal workout finally concludes more than four hours after it starts.

In the sparring sessions, Manny trots out his entire arsenal of tactics and weapons. I was amazed once again to see him attack from one side and then the other. When his sparring mate reacts, Manny’s no longer there but is either right in front of his opponent or on the other side entirely. This unique tactic of disappearing in plain sight is the “Siegfried and Roy” weapon in Manny’s arsenal.

The shear athleticism that Manny brings to his workouts reminds me of the great martial artist Bruce Lee. The more one reflects on Manny and his ring performances, the clearer it becomes that he is the Bruce Lee of boxing. This athletic style is unique in boxing to Manny. In more than four decades of promoting fights, I have never seen anyone like Manny Pacquiao and his Bruce Lee style of boxing.

The mitt sessions with Freddie were also revealing. While Manny hits the mitts Freddie coaches him in moves he will undoubtedly use when he faces Cotto. It is fascinating to watch the teacher and pupil converse while Manny pounds on Freddie’s leather pads.

Three years ago, the mitt session would have consisted of Freddie giving instruction to Manny. Over time Manny the pupil, having learned so much from Freddie, takes an active and important part in the dialogue which sets out the plan Manny will use in fight night against Cotto. Watching the two of them interact now is like being at a boxing ballet, so well attuned are they to each other.

After three days in Baguio I headed down to Manila to catch my plane home. It left at 5 p.m. Sunday and arrived in Las Vegas at about 6 p.m. Sunday. Somewhere, somehow, I picked up a day which seems only fair since I lost one when I flew to the Philippines.

I also came away with the impression that Manny is getting better, improving all the time. Bottom line, Manny is getting into great shape as he prepares to give us another Pacquiao-Bruce Lee type of performance. He knows that in Cotto he faces his toughest foe ever, a real tough, determined opponent.

In my next column I will discuss Cotto’s training and just what he is doing to counteract the typhoon that is Manny Pacquiao.
