That sounds like the same M.O. of a big scam going around. They send around an email with a name similar to a Canadian Hotel offering jobs. They connect you with someone to do the paper work. There is a fee for the paperwork, but there is no job. Canada does not approve work visas based on basic labour jobs in a hotel. The job has to be shown that it can't be filled by Canadians, and tends to be Doctors and Engineers.
This is the first time I've seen this hotel name used, but everything else is the same. Yes, there is a chain that goes by "Delta Hotels", they have one they call "Delta Quebec". But they wouldn't send out a email calling themselves "Delta Quebec Hotel"

You being a new diver I would recommend zero alcohol consumption if you are going to scuba dive. Either drink or dive, one or the other, but not both. ( I'm not condoning drinking one way or the other for you, just answering your question about drinking and diving). Actually, the biggest health problem from alcohol, except for the obvious, while scuba diving is dehydration.
I'm sure you have experienced, after a night of drinking, you wake up the next day being very thirsty. All you want to do is drink water or some other non-alcohol drink to quench that thirst.
So, dehydration is a big health danger while diving, because the air you breath from your tank is compressed and very, very dry!!! This compressed dry air sucks the moisture from your body very rapidly while diving, which dehydrates you even more. Have you ever experience a dry parched feeling throat after diving? That is the air from your scuba tank taking the moisture from your body. I'm sure your scuba instructor told you to drink lots of water before and after diving. That's why!!!
So, in my professional opinion, please do not drink if you are scuba diving, because you are so new to diving. Just don't want you to hurt yourself.
If you aren't going to take my advice about zero alcohol, then no more then two drinks, and then drink plenty of water. No sport drinks or Gatorade, bad for you if you're scuba diving, just water. Hope you have a great time on your vacation.....Be Safe!!!

On May 28, 2001 - Suspected Abu Sayyaf gunmen raid the Dos Palmas resort off the western Philippines island of Palawan and seize 20 hostages including a United States couple and former Manila Times owner Reghis Romero. Most recently, on January 12, 2011 - four traveling merchants and a guide were killed and one wounded when suspected Abu Sayyaf militants ambushed them in Basilan.

The kidnappers and a large number of Filipinos perceive foreign nationals as ATM machines or mobile banking institutions, which means that all Westerners or any foreign nationals on the Philippines soil are filthy rich. Hi, no you can't declare it....LOL....you might get into trouble...
In my opinion, since those DVDs are pirated, better not to declare or mention that you have inserted any in that package, if you'll happen to encounter a strict customs official, he might open it and check what are those dvds. Now if you have some clothing inside the package, rather packed those dvds inside the clothes and better if you have towels packed in. But still, just want to remind you doing this will be at risk, just cross your fingers the custom inspector is at good mood while your package is being released.

Even buy your own backpack over there for cheap....we did. When it comes to looking after your items thats another story.. If you are traveling with some one take turns at looking after them.. leave them in your hotel if you have to.. Some places have little dry bags that can keep your things on you and dry on day tours..... Take as little as possible at all times..... HAve a great trip/

Because of this, local and international environment authorities declared the entire place (all of Palawan's 1,768 islands and islets) a nature sanctuary to protect its flora and fauna. With its land area of almost 1.5 hectare land, Palawan gives shelter to exotic animals and natural attractions, such as rainforests, mountain ranges, hidden caves, and unspoiled beaches, which continually attract visitors from all over world.
As one of the country's top destinations, Palawan has an enchanting beauty that compels tourists to keep on coming back. All of its gorgeous beach resorts are among the best in the world while its equally breath-taking diving spots have also received international recognition. One of these highly regarded dive spots is the Tubbataha Reef, which is located in the Sulu Sea, 181 kilometers southeast of the provinces' capital, Puerto Princesa City. Tubbataha is home to more than 1000 species of marine animals, many of which are considered endangered. Among those that are found in the area include tortoises, manta rays, lionfish, clownfish, and sharks.
Want to experience touring a world heritage site? Then go and visit the Subterranean River National Park located in Puerto Princesa City. Here, you can navigate the 8.2 kilometer underground river that flows through a stunning cave under a rugged limestone and marble cliffs and heads toward an underground lagoon with crystal clear waters.
The El Nido Marine Reserve located in Miniloc, El Nido, which is in the northern tip of the main island of Palawan, is another popular nature spot in the province. Occupying an area of 96,000 hectares, the area nestles varied ecosystems composed of rainforests, beaches, coral and limestone reefs. The place is also home to a wide variety of fishes and sea creatures like manta ray and the "dugong" or sea cow, which is considered as the world's rarest water mammal.
Aside from providing refuge to endemic wildlife, Palawan is also a haven for various types of African wild animals, which were brought from Africa when a terrible drought and widespread civil conflicts ravaged Kenya in 1977. African animals such as zebras, giraffes, impalas, and gazelles were brought to Calauit Island to live in the sanctuary that also protects endangered local animals like mouse deer, bear cats, tarsiers, leopard cats, Palawan peacock pheasants, porcupines, scaly anteaters, and monitor lizard. Tourists are allowed to drop by Calauit Island Wildlife Sanctuary for a visit as safaris are regularly arranged in cooperation with the park rangers.
In planning your escapade to Palawan, you may choose take one of the daily flights from Manila to Puerto Princesa through carriers such as Philippine Airlines, Air Philippines and Cebu Pacific. Travel time by air is one hour and five minutes. Small planes bound for the Calamian Islands in the northern portion of Palawan are also available. Arriving at the YKR Airport in Busuanga Island (part of Calamian group of Islands), visitors can take the jeepney shuttles to Decalatiao Wharf, where speedboats are waiting to ferry everyone to their island destination of choice.

About one mile north on the same coastal road as Bohol Tropics is a great seafood restaurant overlooking the water. The waitresses all wear a sari (spelling?) and are some of the cutest Filipinas I have ever seen in one place.
