Do not be a Statistic--Be on Alert for your own Safety and Security in the Philippines

Many foreign nationals who toured the Asian countries in search of love ended up in the Philippines. Some of us are succinct testimony of this fact. Once you are knowledgeable about the hot spots in the Philippines, you will be in a much better position than Mr. Schilling because you are forewarned. Please bear in mind that the Philippines is both a Paradise Island and the kidnapping capital of East Asia. Therefore, you must exert extreme cautions during your stay in the Philippines.

Warning
A few dangerous places that should be known as 'off-limits' to foreign visitors or those who are residents in the Philippines are however listed as exotic tourist spots by travel agencies and the department of tourism. I feel that foreign visitors are left in the dark on this issue because of monetary gains. I feel that foreign visitors have the right to know the truth about dangerous areas in the Philippines. Criminal and terrorist activities are extraordinary and shocking throughout Mindanao. Palawan, although a beautiful island, is also a dangerous place for the foreign nationals. There have been some kidnapping for ransom there.

You may find some travel agents or others who may wish to convince you to visit Palawan due to its beautiful beaches and landscape. Nonetheless, I strongly recommend that you stay vigilant if you visit Palawan, for your own safety. On May 28, 2001 - Suspected Abu Sayyaf gunmen raid the Dos Palmas resort off the western Philippines island of Palawan and seize 20 hostages including a United States couple and former Manila Times owner Reghis Romero. Most recently, on January 12, 2011 - four traveling merchants and a guide were killed and one wounded when suspected Abu Sayyaf militants ambushed them in Basilan.

As you may be aware, kidnapping for ransom is a common crime in the Philippines. The kidnappers and a large number of Filipinos perceive foreign nationals as ATM machines or mobile banking institutions, which means that all Westerners or any foreign nationals on the Philippines soil are filthy rich. They do not consider robbing them a crime; it is just sharing some of the wealth. Is there a need to be afraid residing in or visiting the Philippines? The answer is no, if you have the necessary knowledge respective to places that are or should be off-limits to foreign nationals.

Stay tuned for upcoming Part II.

About the Author

Colbert Bellevue is the author of three eBooks: "Top Secrets to Approaching a Woman, Seducing Her, and Taking Her on a Date or Getting Her into Bed," "How to Get Many Pen Pals and the Woman of Your Dreams in the Philippines, Thailand, and China," and "The Whole Truths You Need to Know Before You Travel to the Philippines."

He enjoys helping other people find the facts whenever and wherever possible. On a trip to Asia in 2005, he became aware that a number of Americans and other foreign nationals were either killed or kidnapped by some Islamic terrorists in Southern Philippines, as a result, he got himself busy writing an eBook about it.

He suggests that those who were held captive by the deadly bandits should have been alive today if they were advised to stay away from visiting those terrorist-infested areas in the Philippines. Mr. Bellevue heeds Ben Franklin's famous thought, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." In fact, he goes even further in this philosophical thought by believing that an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure.

Some of Mr. Bellevue's favorite beaches are Hulopo'e Beach and Hamoa Beach in Hawaii, the Famous Boracay Beach in the Philippines,Ko Libong Beach in Thailand, Stanley Beach in Hong Kong, and the super famous Normandy Beach, France.
