Palawan Beach Resorts Philippines

Best secluded beach in the Philippines?

Not Boracay, it's too much of a party place for me.

Palawan is great but I think the the beach (sand strip) leaves much to be desired.

What about Siargao? Can anyone recommend a good resort on a great beach?

Camigiun?

Thanks!

If you want a secluded beach, then you should not go to "tourist" beaches because there will always be beachcombers wherever you go. You might be better off in the following:

1. Caramoan Peninsula in Camarines Sur. How secluded? The beaches in the islands scattered in the area have been used as venue for Survivor France, Survivor Argentina, Survivor Israel, and Survivor Serbia. That is how virginal the islands are, and the beaches. In fact, you can pick an island and have the beach to yourself, essentially. Of course there are the occasional boats that go past the islands. But this place definitely qualifies as "secluded". Even the beautiful cottages on Gota Beach are on a secluded cove.

2. The coves in Mariveles, Bataan. Go down the hills to the water. Then find your way to the next cove. My friends and I do this, and we almost always end up with a cove with no one but us. Best to camp, and stay in the town proper for a decent bed and bath after your beach camp.

3. The beaches in Morong, Bataan. There is a 5-star accommodation at Anvaya Cove, but you need to find a friend who is a member of this exclusive club. But you can go past Anvaya and into town where you will find more beach resorts. Morong is a bit off the way and so there are few tourists who stay there. But the cottages are clean, albeit spartan.

4. Catanduanes. This is an island province that is also not a major tourist destination (Thank God!) and so the beaches are nice and a lot of them are rather secluded. The most famous is Puraran which is a surfing beach. However, there are at least 10 other destinations within Catanduanes where you can find accommodations and still have the beach practically to yourselves.

5. Batanes. The population is so small, and the entire island of Batan (main island) is actually rolling hills descending to the water. You could be the only person for one whole day, or one whole week, when you go down to the water from a hill. And the whole province is spectacular.

You can stay in the PTA Lodge (managed by the Philippine Tourism Authority) or in the inns operated by the locals. They are more charming and gets you a chance to interact with locals in the inn you will stay inn. My favorite is Mama Lily's and Ivatan Lodge.

I always declare that Batanes is not just the most beautiful place in the Philippines, but in the world.
