Makati Shopping and Eating: Filling up and stocking up in Makati

Manila is a magnificent city that constantly attracts millions of visitors every year. There are almost no limits when it comes to travelling in Manila, as it is actually a combination of cities and neighbourhoods. Nevertheless, it is very easy to travel Manila, as a traveller simply picks one of the districts, and spends their time there.

Arriving into Manila is most commonly done through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. However, low cost airlines, like Air Asia, usually fly into the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport instead.

There is no better place to visit in Manila than Makati, the number one spot to dine and shop. However, there is more to Makati than just that. There are so many fine accommodation options in the city of Makati, but many of these are extremely expensive, generally topping the most costly in Philippines list every year.

- There are many places for visitors to enjoy a day or two of shopping, and not to mention a healthy lunch or dinner. One of the most visited sites in the area of Makati is the Salcedo Park. However, it is not so much the park that attracts thousands of people, but what is inside the park itself. Held every weekend, the Salcedo Markets is home to an enormous range of ornaments, food, arts, crafts and cloths. It is recommended that visitors arrive as early as possible to the market place to pick up the best foods and best prices.

- Hotels in Makati are home to a range of restaurants…many of which are the most expensive dining experiences in the city. There aren't any hotels that contain shopping malls on their premises, but some of the hotels are found adjacent or even attached to a variety of Makati's shopping malls. Restaurants are commonly busy during most days of the week, so reservations are required before getting to the restaurant.

- The Rockwell Centre's Power Plant Mall is among the most outstanding shopping malls in Asia. Visitors arrive at the mall through the front entrance, and can explore the four level shopping complex in a few hours. However, with the range of delectable restaurants also situated within the centre, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for travellers and shoppers to spend all day at the Power Plant Mall.

- The SM Department Store Makati is another shopping centre that is found in the much larger Ayala Centre. Ayala Corporation is home to many wonderful shopping attractions and restaurants. Therefore, SM Makati is a popular place that shouldn't be missed by diners and writers.

- Greenbelt, which is so aptly named for its belt of parks and green areas that stand around the shopping complex. It is arguably the best shopping mall in Makati, Manila, and the Philippines. It consists of five different buildings, with some of these boasting indoor facilities, while others are more indoor facilities. This is quite a unique experience for shoppers and tourists. Of course, some of the retail stores found in the centre include very expensive and very reliable products like Bvlgari and Yves Saint Laurent.

- Glorietta is another one of the large and high society shopping malls in Bangkok. It is also part of the Ayala Centre, which includes a variety of department stores. Nevertheless, the complex contains a negative image to its façade at the moment, due to the number of attacks that were carried in the past few years. Some of the main shopping and restaurant stores in the complex include TGI Fridays, the Hard Rock Café, and a large number of interesting fashion stores and accessories.
