which hotel is better/ famous here in the philippines? SOFITEL/ SHANGRI-LA? Pls. tell how many stars they hav.?
i have been to these hotel many times and have check-in in various hotel sites not only in Manila but in some other parts of the world as well.
in my personal experience Sofitel comes second to Shangri-la in the terms of quality of service and quality of hotel features meaning the quality of materials of the hotel finishings including the furnitures, fixtures and even the simple stationery in every rooms and the fine dining presentation. but when it comes to fine quality of features i still vote for the Mandarin, Makati. Also for instance in Shangrila Makati as a business hotel it caters better deals to corporate functions including room rates.
however when it comes to functions Sofitel advantage is its vast function rooms and the capability to service huge functions such as conventions or huge corporate functions.
My choice for gym and spa is Sofitel for it's size and better pool size. the negative side is they allow local residents with gym membership to use the hotel facility that makes sometimes the gym, sauna and spa crowded most of which are old Chinese businessmen. Unlike the Shangrila wherein it service hotel guest only.
Shangrila Cebu is considered a business and resort hotel this makes Shangrila a better option than Sofitel when it comes to resort.
but when it comes to cuisine my taste prefer Sofitel but as i mentioned the presentation score goes to Shangrila
both hotel are five star but personally it wouldn't matter for hotel classification are based upon in sizes of rooms, toilet and bath, parking, facilities, amenities etc etc what matters most is the quality of service, value for money, comfort and convenience.
at the end of the day every cities in the world have different fine hotels it doesn't mean if Shangrila is good in Manila it is also the same as in other places.
actually i'm from Sydney and the fine hotel here is the Sheraton at the park and if you compare Shangrila it's way different than Sheraton. However, in Manila Sheraton is nothing compared to Shangrila.
