davao "davao "

Davao

This cosmopolitan city on the south coast of Mindanao has had the second fastest growth in population in the Philippines after Manila.

Settlers have come here from all over the country and the population is almost 1.5 million.

San Pedro St and Claro M Recto Ave are the two main street s of Davao.

Davao has a large range of various religious sites including  a large Buddhist temple "Buddah with a 1000 Hands", The Shrine of the Holy Infant Jesus of Prague,  a Chinatown and some pleasant parks. The city is renowned for its large variety of tropical fruits in particular the Durian for which there is a Durian Monument. The fruit stalls are colourful and offer tasty treats and there are lots of them along Ponciono Reyes St.

The highest Mountain in the Philippines Mt Apo overlooks Davao and can be climbed in four or five days.

On your way to the top you can pass waterfalls hot springs and pools of boiling mud. o special equipment is needed for the climb and March to may is the best time of year as it is the driest.

Among the many reasons why tourists visit Davao City is that it is in a typhoon-free zone and has unique eco-tourism and cultural resources. Its  strategic location allows a number of flights and is on shipping routes and land trips.

The highly skilled and educated population offer a safe and clean destination.
