Philippine Airlines fare increase....?

Howcome PAL increased round trip air fares from $1,000-1,500 to $3500??? Is it all because of the oil price hike or is it just a technical problem in their online booking?? I can't believe it! The price just doubled!
I know that December is high season... But I just cant believe the 100%+ increase!!

3,500 u.s. dollars must be for mabuhay class(pal's business class). if not, they must be joking.
